Custom Built Window & Door

These guys are creeps. The guy that set up the appointment kept asking me if there was a significant other in my house; the guy that came didn't even know what he was there for, tried to sell me a house full of windows instead of 4 cellar windows, after 45 minutes and finally an estimate, the guy wouldn't leave, he said I thought you were going to cook dinner then said he was kidding. I told him 4 times to get out. He insulted me all the way out the door. Then some other guy called me two days later, he asked how it went, I told him, he said he's writing all this down and then proceeded to try and sell me the windows, calling me dear. I said no. (Update) As an additional note to my 11/6/19 review, the outfit from the Colonie, NY location are the ones I dealt with. The Headquarters for this company is in Rhode Island.

Things went downhill from the beginning. I visited the showroom and explained what I wanted. A gentleman took my name and number, but two days later I did not hear from them, so I called to set an appointment. I was made to guarantee that my wife would be there, and to provide her name. Then I was told to expect a call back from a supervisor confirming the appointment. The call came while I was busy, so my wife took the call. She asked why she had to be there, and was told it was company policy. A disagreeable conversation ensued. We decided to keep the appointment anyway, but I had the feeling this was not going to be fun. The salesman arrived on time and was pleasant at first, but as soon as we told him we wanted a quote for his most inexpensive door, his face fell. He insisted on bringing out his flip chart to give us a presentation, which he rushed through, and then gave us a price that seemed very high to us, whill trashing the competition. I thanked him for his time, and he left, but was no longer Mr. Friendly. I'm not able to judge the company's product; they have a large factory and a long history, so they probably have very good products and installers. The buying process could be a lot better. Be prepared to sit down like you're buying a new car.

They came when they said they would. They did a good job.

All work was done very professionally. Both the sales person and installers was great to deal with. The windows did take a few weeks longer to get than originally quoted but I all in all it was the same amount of weeks the other companies quoted, which was about 2 months. The installers were here right on time, worked fast and cleaned up everything, including broken glass that was here. The replacements were due to a storm and I was working with insurance. I needed additional documentation for the insurance company and the salesman assisted me with that also.

This time we got new-construction windows and doors. We had some design changes and custom built was very helpful and patient in custom fitting the windows to our design including a beautiful new bay window, A couple of weeks after delivery we had an unexpected issue and decide we need 1 more window. Custom built has committed to delivering it within 2 weeks so that it does not hold up construction. Our contractor normally uses a different window supplier but agreed for us to buy the windows directly from Custom Built. He told us that we got a very good price (as good as he could have gotten as a high volume customer). For our previous replacement windows Custom Built has always provided a very competitive price, been prompt and professional in installation and cleaned up thoroughly. Note the first time we used Custom Built we had our own contractor and one window leaked around the sides due to poor installation. When we had Custom Built install additional windows they fixed the leaking installation at no extra charge even though it was not their fault. We like the fact the all the windows are fabricated locally in Warwick RI helping the local economy.

They were a lot higher, they were like $140 higher per window and it is the same window made by the same company. He couldn't give me a price right on the spot. The professionalism was fine. He was great, very courteous and very friendly.

Having workers with hundreds of contractors over the years, none out performed Custom Built. Excellent craftsmanship, and the owner even followed up with me six months later to make sure there were no problems and that I was happy with everything.

They came, measured, then returned with the doors and installed them. They look good and are much more energy efficient than the old ones.

Custom Built Window and Door were meticulous and professional. Sometimes they are slow to get back to me but the actual work that they do is excellent.

We recently built a home and I was very hesitant about not using and quot;Anderson Windowsand quot;. We had the Anderson 400 series in our last home and I was really not interested in making a change. As a way to cut the ever growing budget of building a new home I reluctantly agreed to use the Custom Built Energex Windows and Patio Door. I absolutely LOVE them. They are beautiful looking, easy to use and clean and I think they are leaps and bounds better than the Andersons. The company and staff was great to work with and the showroom was modern and conveniently located. I have been recommending the windows and company to everyone!

I called the company. A representative measured the window; he also measured the first window and the door and gave me a quote each time. I authorized the quote and paid 50% down. The service man installed the window(s), door., The company sent me a bill which I paid. Service was excellent.

My call was returned promptly and an appointment to meet with a salesman was scheduled. I met with Joe who was very knowledgeable and helpful in answering any questions I had and assisting me in my selection. The installation of the entry door by Dan was very well done. Following the installation, Dan cleaned up the area and left no traces of his work. My new front entry door looks beautiful. I would do business with this company again.

It went well. Workman was on time. I noticed a small problem, which was corrected the next day.

The installer, Dan, was great. He did a very good job and was very considerate. He caught one of my canine Girls making a run for it ( I didn't have her confined enough). There was absolultely no mess and the door looks wonderful. I wish I had called Custom Built when I had my windows replaced a few years ago. Very good company to do business with.

I have done business in the passed with Custom Built Window and Door System. I knew the father (founder) his name was John E Gardner Jr. known to many as Jack. Jack was a true gentleman and very good business man. I started doing business with Custom Built Window and Door System in the 80's through a Lumber Company I worked for. On occasion I had to call on Jack to pick his brain on an idea. Jack always had the time to talk to me and answer any questions I had. I left the lumber business in the mid 90's due to poor health. I only recently started doing some business again. Custom Built Window and Door System is now being run by Jack's 3 sons. Jack past away in 2008. The three son's have kept the same philosophy of their father. and quot;Give the customer a great product at a reasonable price and remember the serviceand quot; Yes you might be able to find a cheaper price at the Big Box stores. But when you need a part for a window or door that you purchase from Big Box in 5 years, chances are they have changed vendors of the product 5 times. Forget about finding that part. But by buying locally, from a family owned business you know they will be their to service your needs. So folks when making your choices on windows and doors price is not everything. You won't go wrong with Custom Built Window and Door systems.

Didn't get off the ground.

They have been great. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I've used their services several times over the last several years; I wouldn't go to anyone else. They've always been responsive and prompt. The quality of the work is great. I'd highly recommend them to others.

They did an excellent job; arrived on time, got right to work, were focused on getting the job done properly, and cleaned everything up afterward. They are not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for, and their product and work is top notch. I've used them for replacement of patio sliders as well as storm doors and i've always been very pleased with their work.Their service is outstanding.

I needed 3 odd sized windows in a hurry. They took my order early, 7:30 am, gave a time expectancy of 3 days , finished early the windows were ready for me the next day. Great customer service. They can also make the mesurements, and install them for you. Next time I'd do this.

THEY DID A WONDERFUL, NEAT AND THOROUGH JOB. IT'S TOO BAD THAT EVERYTHING HAD TO BURN UP IN THE FIRE WE HAD. IF ADRIEN'S WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPLACE THE WINDOWS, I MOST DEFINITELY WOULD'VE HAD THESE GUYS BACK.

THE COMPANY WORKED PRETTY HARD. THEY WEREN'T THAT TIMELY AND THEY MADE THE WORK LAST OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. THE DOORS LOOK REALLY NICE AND THE QUALITY IS AWESOME.

THEY CAME ON TIME. THE DOOR THAT THEY BROUGHT US THE FIRST TIME WAS TOO BIG, SO THEY WENT BACK AND GOT US A DOOR FIT RIGHT. THEY EVEN CUT DOWN THE PRICE A LITTLE FOR OUR TROUBLES OF WAITING.

I FELT THAT THEIR PRICES WERE REASONABLE AND THEY DID A VERY NICE JOB WITH ALL THE WINDOWS. THEY ALL LOOK VERY NICE, AND THEY ALL WORK PROPERLY. THEY WORKED WITH US AS THE PROJECT WENT ALONG, BECAUSE WE DID NOT HAVE THEM DO IT ALL AT ONE TIME.
