Casey's Chimney & Wood Stove Service

Chimney Repair, Chimney Sweep, Chimney Caps,

About us

Please call the main number to schedule service. Established in 1973, the Casey family has been keeping Rhode Island families warm and safe from chimney fires longer than any chimney company in the state. Founded by, James and Joyce Casey nearly 40 years ago, the husband and wife team started out as a family owned and operated business with a station wagon, ladder and a few chimney brushes. While Joyce ran the office from home and looked after the children, Jim set his sites on becoming the best in the industry. Jim wasn't happy just cleaning chimney's, he wanted to learn the science behind each working part and mechanism taking classes all over the country. Once Jim knew the anatomy of a chimney he could diagnose various problems customers experienced. Just a few short years into the business, Jim learned there was much more to the chimney business than simply brushing down a chimney. His now highly educated eye picks up on what other chimney company's bypass. Two of Jim and Joyce's children have joined the family company where they are committed to their parent's ethics, values, sense of community, and to never sacrifice safety for the almighty dollar. Decades have passed and seen the company grow from a station wagon to cube trucks which are virtual warehouses on wheels. If you need it, we have it - WE DO IT ALL!

Mr. Casey had been telling me for a couple years (he cleans my chimney every year) that the line in the furnace flue was deteriorating pretty bad and needed to be replaced. A couple weeks after his last cleaning we noticed some exhaust smell in the house. Nothing terrible, but you could smell it. I called him the next day (a Wednesday) and left a message that we needed to get on his list to have a liner installed inside the original clay liner. That afternoon I had a message from his daughter (she runs the office) that if we were smelling anything it was dangerous and to call them back. I did, and they re-arranged the schedule of one of their crews to come by the next morning. They were there by 10:00, and worked until around 3:00 to get the job done. It was not a straightforward job, and the space is very tight, but they did it right and explained everything to me as they went. You definitely get the feeling that these guys take pride in their work and they don't cut any corners. I didn't bother shopping prices because I knew from past experience with Mr. Casey and his crew that they'll do it right, and I'm not interested in saving a hundred bucks and then wondering if my furnace is venting properly. Done and done, work done right the first time and total piece of mind.
Description of Work: Installed a stainless steel liner, from the furnace to the top of the chimney. The original clay liner was disintegrating. They had to open up some brick in the back of the chimney because the route was a little crazy.

I love this company. It's so hard to find a good chimney sweep/installer/cleaner. Jim Casey is professional, responsible, does great work and is, in my opinion, his is the ONLY chimney company worth using. They are great.

It was great! Our oil company sent a chimney inspector who told us that we needed to replace the chimney liner and do other work that would cost more than $2,000. We called Casey, who made an appointment for the next day and was at our door on time at 9:30. He looked at our chimney from up and down and in and out, he even had a worker on our roof in the rain! He reported that there was nothing wrong with the liner. The only thing he could suggest was to replace the top 18 inches, as it was narrower than the chimney opening. The whole thing was done that morning. There was no mess. He gave us his cell number and told us to call him at any time right away if we had any problems whatsoever. The total cost was $150, which he had told us before hand would be the cost for an inspection. We were so relieved to find out that our chimney and liner are sound. We can't thank him enough! Bill and Gene Brown of Warwick, RI.

I had a roofing guy who told me that my chimney had started to fall apart. I looked up the companies on Angie's List, and when I called, she said that they were booked out until some time in January. She said that if they get an opening, they will let me know. As we were talking, she said I should hold on, and she was talking to somebody in the background, and it turned out to be the owner. She said that the owner said he will do a fly by because he will be in the area, and if he can do it any sooner, he will let me know and will give me a call. A couple of days later, the owner came up and knocked on the door. I wasn't home, but my room mate was, and he asked if we would like it to be done. I thought it would be where I would have to call somebody else because they were busy, but they weren't busy enough to come and do the work, and do extra, at an extremely reasonable price.
Description of Work: They went up on the roof, and determined what needed to be done. They rebuilt the chimney, flashed it above the roof level, and I had the roof replaced a couple of years earlier, and he said the shingles were getting loose around the chimney, and he replaced them. He also put a cover on the chimney.

Stephen performed a video inspection of both our chimney flues. The flue going to the boiler was clay and had numerous cracks and holes. The inspection cost $125, which was taken out of the total for installation of a 6" stainless steel liner system ($1,750), which carries a lifetime warranty. Stephen was courteous, professional, and very helpful. We would definitely recommend Casey's Chimney Service.

I am writing this review only because the description for this company on Angies List says "asks for details" to the question about free estimates. When we called to get an estimate (someone answered the phone), after a minute or so we were told that estimates cost $150 that would be credited towards the work performed. There were no "details" -- the correct answer was that they do not give free estimates. Their angies list profile should say that. Anyways, it's fine if you don't want to do free estimates (it's your business), but the company should be clear about that.

Initially, I thought I just needed to have the chimney rebuilt because it was starting to come apart. When Mr. Jim Casey did the inspection, he found that the flue had begun to disintegrate and there were pieces at the bottom in my basement. Thankfully, I have oil heat instead of propane, or this definitely would have caused carbon monoxide fumes to come into my home. When his crew came out, it was a very rainy day with scattered thunderstorms, but they managed to finish most of the work despite the weather. They came back the next day to finish the chimney work. I was very impressed with the way Stephen kept me informed all through the process. His crew even neatly stacked up all the used bricks next to my garage. I highly recommend Mr. Casey and his crew for their friendliness and professionalism. I will definitely be using them to clean my brand new chimney every year!

We used them to clean a big tall chimney for our wood stove insert. It had never been cleaned and they did a fabulous job. They closed up everything so tightly that not even one peice of soot got out into the room at all. It was hard to tell they were even there because they cleaned up their mess so thoroughly. They are very experienced and personable as well. We did have to wait some time for them to come but it was worth waiting for. They did a great job and the price was reasonable.

The service appt. went extremely well. Mr. Casey and his worker were on time/ friendly and pleasant/ professional and I was very impressed and happy with the whole outcome. The work that had to be done, was done in a timely manner. Certain things re: fireplaces/vents were explained to me, since this is my 1st home. Everything was taken care of, received the providers business cards, since I plan to use them in the future. I am one very satisfied customer !!
Description of Work: The provider went up on the roof to check & inspect chimney. Owner -Jim Casey- inspected my fireplaces/ masonry/dryer & chimney vents. Mr. Casey also checked on fire extinguishers ( how many & location) ~ same with smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. The provider told me I was doing a great job in regards to keeping everything up-to-standards and offered his input and expertise (which was greatly appreciated), which I will carry out.

I am Sooooo Impressed !!!! Casey's Chimney service is outstanding !!!! I had 2 other Chimney companies come to the home prior to Caseys. One of them were Daves Chimney service out of Mass. (stay away from them) They charged me $200.00 to clean the chimney out. (so they said). and the other company wanted to sell me all these liners, and other stuff for $2,500.00. When Caseys chimney came over, I didnt tell them about the other 2, or the service they provided, because I wanted to get a fresh start to see what Casey's had to say. When Jim inspected the chimney, he said that the chimney is totally blocked, and needed a good cleaning. at which point he cleaned both stacks of the chimney, and then re-inpected the condition of the inside. He told me it is in good shape, and didnt reccomend anything else but stainless steel caps. I asked him if he thought it needed a liner, or anything else so it would be safe. He said no, just the cleaning and the caps. He said the interior of both the chimney stacks are in good condition, and the problem was that the wood stove side stack was totally blocked, and that water and debris were getting in because there was no cap. he said its good to go. I was shocked to hear that the one of the stacks were totally blocked after I paid Daves Chimney service $200,00 to clean it. Jim showed me what came out of the chimney, and i couldnt believe it. Jim also gave me advise on how to properly use the wood stove. and types of hardwoods to burn. Jim did the job, PLUS little extras to make sure that we would have no issues, be safe, and keep warm this winter. Casey's Chimney are true HONEST PROFESSIONALS. and I would recommend them to anyone. I will definately use them over and over again !!!!! I even gave them 20 extra dollars to go buy coffee. Thank you Jim, and Angies list
