Please call the main number to schedule service. Established in 1973, the Casey family has been keeping Rhode Island families warm and safe from chimney fires longer than any chimney company in the state.
Founded by, James and Joyce Casey nearly 40 years ago, the husband and wife team started out as a family owned and operated business with a station wagon, ladder and a few chimney brushes.
While Joyce ran the office from home and looked after the children, Jim set his sites on becoming the best in the industry. Jim wasn't happy just cleaning chimney's, he wanted to learn the science behind each working part and mechanism taking classes all over the country. Once Jim knew the anatomy of a chimney he could diagnose various problems customers experienced. Just a few short years into the business, Jim learned there was much more to the chimney business than simply brushing down a chimney. His now highly educated eye picks up on what other chimney company's bypass.
Two of Jim and Joyce's children have joined the family company where they are committed to their parent's ethics, values, sense of community, and to never sacrifice safety for the almighty dollar.
Decades have passed and seen the company grow from a station wagon to cube trucks which are virtual warehouses on wheels. If you need it, we have it - WE DO IT ALL!

I wanted the chimney inspected, capped and repaired if necessary. Casey's came the next day and found I needed a crown coat and flash seal because they were seriously deteriorated. The first crew in the morning installed two caps, and a second crew came later in the day and took care of the rest. They were very professional and the chimney looks great.

We needed to have our chimney rebuilt from the roof up and needed a cap. We called Casey's and they arranged to come out right away for an inspection and a quote. They were on time and gave me a very detailed quote along with the work that they would complete. We decided to use the company and called to make an appointment for the work. I was not home for that appointment but my wife told me they were right on time. By the time I got home there was no trace they had been there, other than a gorgeous new chimney and cap! We were very pleased with our experience and will use them for continued maintenance.

Casey did a thorough inspection and explained all of the problems I had with my chimney and the fireplace. He gave me an estimate of the repairs. He showed up when he said he would, did all the work he was contracted to do, and maybe a bit more. He fixed it right, so it won't have to be done again. He charged only what he estimated, with no hidden or added charges
Description of Work: First he did a thorough inspection. Repaired a crack inside the fireplace. Rebuilt the chimney. Put a liner in the chimney Put a cap on the chimney Flashed the chimney Cleaned out a packed flu (evidently NOT cleaned by the guy we paid to clean the chimney last year.) Pressure washed the chimney to remove old paint (someone used the wrong paint on it) Painted the chimney

Upon This summer I called Jim back to replace the chimney he said he'd be out and confirm what needed to be done. After about two calls and a no show I finally advised I was no longer in need of his services. He simply stated "i'm backed up and cannot make it" To me that meant I'm too busy for you. I was never called to reschedule, I had to make the calls to get any response etc. I have since had two other companies look at my chimney and there is no need to replace the ENTIRE chimney. I caution you with repair jobs with Jim and his service. He is not truthful in what he states and will end up costing you more. My chimney has only required a new "T" and is about $300 saving me over $1300 in unrequired spending. It is worth noting that Jim prides himself on Fire Safety but was the FIRST and LARGEST supplier of fireworks in RI when they were legalized. It's a bit contradictive to his services that he has.
Description of Work: Initially Jim came out to clean my chimney (Hearth and Cooley) single stack system for my wood stove. Overall they did a job that was clean and to the point. He advised of a safey concern as my door did not swing fully over the hearth. I took this in advisement and have corrected. Following his cleaning he noted the support structure of my system was detoriating and would require replacement. About 3-4 months into the heating season my chimney sprung a leak and was dropping ashes onto my deck below. I called Jim up who came out and priced me out. He noted now the "entire" chimney had to be replaced. I foudn this a bit odd following his cleaning as his technician and himself were pretty abrasive when cleaning. None the less I had him quote me for a entire chimney replacement. Total came to about $1600. I opt'd to shut the stove down for the year and bite the bullet with my electric heat.

He arrived on time (a little early, in fact, as he had said he might) and went right to work examining the chimneys. He was friendly and efficient and took care to protect the household from soot and dust. He performed the cleaning and exterior inspection in about an hour. When he recommended pointing for the chimneys and I told him I already had someone contracted but offered to return to apply a sealing coating of protection against squirrels over the lead flashing around the base after the mason was finished.
Description of Work: Jim Pereault examined two household chimneys and recommended cleaning one; he performed the cleaning and examined both the interior and the exterior of the chimney from the roof for signs of damage and need of pointing.

We called to quote for a few services last winter, but called again July 14 or 15th 2010 for a more comprehensive quote. They came to look at the job on July 19, 2010 and called later that day to say that the price they quoted would only be available the next day due to increases in the distributor's price. We agreed to have the work done the next day to keep the original price. They came right when they said they would and got to work right away. They worked for a whole day at our house with no added issues or add on costs. They did attempt to give us a deal on a used chimney cap, but it didn't fit. So, they split the difference on a new chimney cap, which they didn't have to do. They left our basement cleaner than it was, were courteous, and worked tirelessly on the roof under the hot summer sun. Everything looks good and we hope to have years of a trouble-free chimney.

Initial phone call was great. The person on the phone managed to move up the date for the estimate/consult for me. The day came and went and they didn't show. I had a spalling chimney and it needed to be taken down and rebuilt. Steven and Kevin did a really nice job. They arrived early, stayed late, and were very patient with all my questions. They took down the old chimney, rebuilt the new one and put on a stainless steel cap. It was discovered that my chimney wasn't flashed correctly in a few spots from when our roof was done, so they did "counter-flash" so they took care of that too. They took all the debris, cleaned everything up and you would never know they were there. Really nice job. Good price too! My new chimney is beautiful! I went with this company because of his reputation and he lived up to it. Thanks!

The Casey team worked really well together. They were friendly and helpful - showing me and informing me of everything they were doing. I really liked that the were aware of trying to keep my house clean during the messy process by placing drop cloths in the area where they were working. Chimney soot can be rather messy. The price was reasonable for the services they provided.
Description of Work: Casey's came to our house and removed a very stubborn squirrel living in my chimney. It took them 1.5 hours to set it free. The chimney guy we hired 3 years ago to cap our chimney did not use the right size cap - so needless to say...a cute, furry critter made it's way in. Casey's placed the appropriate size cap and I haven't heard any further scratching in the walls.

Stephen and Anthony did a wonderful job! Stephen was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions thoroughly and made many recommendations. They arrived on time and performed the work quickly and professionally. The price seemed very reasonable for the amount of work that we had done. Valerie in the office also gave me a lot of good information and helped schedule the work quickly. I highly recommend this company.

I called for an estimate. A lady suggested a sweep and inspection. Mr. Casey showed up on time. He told me that my Chimney does not require a sweep. I am impressed by his honesty because all other companies told me a sweep is a must. Mr. Casey gave me a quote for $600. His price is in the middle of all quotes. I have quotes between $650 and $720. Everybody else's price includes a sweep. If I take the cost of sweep off, his price is in the middle. My neighbour came down told me Mr. Casey is a good guy. I hired him on the spot because his high rating on angieslist and I trust my neighbour. It took Mr. Casey and his man a little under 2 hours to finish the work. His man did most of the work. It seems to be a quality job except the shape of the crown is not perfect. It does not look like a perfect shape when I looked from ground. But it is ok. This is the only reason I gave him a B rating for quality.

Response from Casey's Chimney & Wood Stove Service
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to write a report on Angie's List. Feedback, whether negative or positive helps us become a better company. As the office manager here, it is my job to review these reports. Upon review of your report, I brought to the attention of Mr. Casey (owner), that you had given a B in quality. Mr. Casey stated to me that a B is unacceptable and to immediately contact the customer and inform that we will be coming out to take a closer look at our work. If there is any work of poor quality, it will immediately be corrected at no extra cost to you. Thank you again for writing this report as we would not have been aware of this if you hadn't! Valerie Casey, Office Manager (daughter of the owner).

Excellent! From start to finish, the work Mr. Casey and his crew performed was stellar. Mr. Casey was very responsive to our request for a drive-by estimate and followed up with a phone call that very day. Upon agreeing to having the work done Mr. Casey was true to his word on when he would fax the estimate for our review/approval. Once signed the crew was actually able to begin work the next day. No deposit was required. The crew arrived on time and quickly began working on dismantling the old chimney. Removal of the old bricks from the worksite was delayed one day to due to the weather and Mr. Casey was quick to inform us of such. At the end of the second day the new chimney was up and the entire worksite was clean. We are very pleased with how the new chimney turned out and would highly recommend Mr. Casey to anybody. He proved to be a stand-up guy and not someone we had to chase down. Very reliable and communicative.
Description of Work: Rebuilt a chimney from the roof-line up with red brick ($1500), added a steel chimney cap ($250) and removed all debris from the work site ($100). Job took a total of 2 days.

I read the many positive reviews on this company here on Angie's List, so I decided to give them a try. Mr. Casey called me the same day when I called to schedule an estimate. The next day, he performed a drive-by and called the same day to give me the estimate. After accepting the estimate, Mr. Casey's crew showed up to work the following business day. He requested that I'd pay him only AFTER all the work had been done. The work took about two full days. They work crews were very clean and did not leave a mess. Whatever dust that was kicked up by the replacement of the bricks was washed down by the crew at the end of the work. Before requesting the check, Mr. Casey himself inspected all the work to make sure that everything went the way it should have. I have to say that I'm very pleased with this company and definitively will recommend it to anyone needing chimney work.
Description of Work: Two chimneys were repaired: 1) The furnace exhaust chimney, and 2) The fireplace exhaust chimney. 1) Furnace Exhaust Chimney. This chimney was cut and repointed, and the flashing replaced. 2) Fireplace Exhaust Chimney. This chimney required most of the work. In addition, to being cut, repointed, and the flashing replaced, this chimney had a lot of bricks that were brittle and falling apart, which were removed and replaced. Also, a new damper was installed.

Mr. Casey did a thorough inspection before providing an estimate. His crew arrived when they said they would arrive, did excellent work, and left no mess behind.
Description of Work: Cut and re-pointed exterior of chimney, installed new flashing, installed new clay liner, sealed cracks between chimney and house, repaired firebox, built chimney two feet higher, and applied water repellent to exterior.
Very pleased, the 3 man crew were courteous, professional and hard workers. They cleaned every piece of debris from removing the old chimney. They left the old bricks in a neat pile, I'll use them to edge my garden. I have been passing out their business cards.

Great! When Mr. Casey first came out, he left a test piece in our chimney to make sure the clay liner crack was why we were getting water in the house. He didn't want to do the job and charge us before he had confirmed this because of the location of the leak, there were a few other things it could have been. After leaving the test piece in through a rain storm, and determining the liner was in fact the problem, he came out promptly and completed the job. Honest and conscientious!
Description of Work: The old clay liner in our chimney was cracked, so we had a water leak and were seeing stains in our bathroom ceiling. Casey's re-lined the chimney with a stainless steel liner. Our chimney is connected to a gas furnace, no fireplaces.
