ABC Cleaning Company was the people I had come last year. They did a good job but it was really kind of the same thing as well where the one I just hired had four people come, I think they had two people come. ABC Cleaning Company actually did do a really good job at cleaning. I looked into hiring them but their hourly rates were kind of high and more than I could afford at that time but they did a really good job.

It didn't go as well as I had hoped or expected. I kept finding things they didn't do for weeks after they were here.
Description of Work: I wouldn't use them again. The cleaners arrived on time and equipped to clean, but instead of getting to work they were only interested in specifically what I wanted cleaned, rather than doing a thorough cleaning of the whole house, which is what was advertised and what I paid for. And that's exactly what they did, clean in spots. One cleaner seemed to do a decent job while the other spent as much time as possible trying to do as little as possible while trying to convince me to hire her for side jobs. On the whole the job they did was less than second rate and I wound up hiring someone else to do the job a couple of weeks later.

I'm sorry to hear that we did not live up to your expectations, however, we do recommend carefully reviewing the terms of the deal before purchasing to avoid this type of misunderstanding.

Great experience, had no problems from booking to the actual finished product. The girls seemed very professional and you can tell they worked well since the house looked great.
Description of Work: I am assuming that this is the company that was formally called Ocean State Housecleaning. I purchased a deal for 3 man hours through Angies List. I contacted the company and was able to get an appointment right away. 2 of the workers came to my home and went over in detail what I wanted cleaned and also where to concentrate. I felt comfortable leaving my home while they worked. The house looked great when I came home, and a check list was left with what they did and a supervisor had arrived at the end of the cleaning to inspect their performance. Nice touch.

The company sent 2 people for 2 hours of work. I asked them to focus on the bathrooms and kitchen. I was happy with most of the work though I feel the tub could have been cleaned better. The trash was emptied and extra trash bags were left in the pails, which was a nice touch. The address listed here is a bit suspect, which is why I marked down on professionalism

Use at your own risk! We had used Ocean State for a few months and the cleaning was somewhat inconsistent, but adequate. The problem came when, right after Christmas, a very valuable piece of jewelry (both in terms of money and sentimental value) went missing. I assumed I had misplaced the piece in the hub-bub of the holidays, and asked Kara at Ocean State to please ask the cleaners who had been in that day if they had seen it. After tearing the house apart myself and hearing back from Kara that the cleaners had not seen it, I tearfully gave it up as lost. Imagine my surprise when 3 months later, I get a call from the police saying that an employee of Ocean State was suspected of stealing jewelry, and did I recognize my piece from amongst the list of suspected stolen items! To make a long story short(er), the cleaner actually confessed to stealing specifically my piece of jewelry (among others) which was now destroyed. My outrage, however, is not about the theft per se. I am outraged because I never once was contacted by Ocean State (they responded to my emails, but they never initiated anything) during this whole process - they never informed me that their employee was under suspicion, that their employee confessed, or volunteered any information on how to get reimbursed from their insurance (since the jewelry was destroyed, I couldn't get that back). I've never been allowed to speak to the owner and they never even offered a rebate or discount on a cleaning! In addition, I still have not received one penny from them because first I was told that their employee had to be convicted before their insurance would pay anything. After the individual was convicted, I was told that the individual had to be convicted specifically in my town before their insurance would pay anything. So now over a year later, and I'm still spending my time and energy dealing with my hometown police to try and figure out what exactly Ocean State needs to happen so that I can receive any sort of compensation.

I called and booked and appointment. They gave me a 2 hour window for a time they would arrive. They called me to tell me they were on their way. Two young men arrived with their own cleaning supplies. I showed them around my house and mentioned a couple of specific areas that I wanted to be sure they cleaned. The deal was for 2 people for 2 hours. They actually finished in an hour and a half. They had me walk through the house when they were done to give my approval. They did a very nice job. I was pleased with the results.

Another "deal" buyer. We are sorry that you were not happy with the cleaning you received and that it was not up to your standards. Perhaps if you had purchased a regular cleaning instead of a half-priced cleaning you would have satisfied with the service since it would have allowed the option for additional time to be spent on your home. The deal you purchased limited us to 2 hours in your home. A regular priced cleaning would have allowed more time in your home for us to be more particular with the detail portion of the cleaning. We did what we could do with the amount of time we had for the deal you purchased. We would also like to point out that we DID NOT leave a grease mark on your carpet. This is not possible. None of our vacuums have any parts that are greased or have grease in or on them. We use Oreck uprights and Kenmore Progressive canister vacuums, none of which have any grease on them anywhere. Due to the frequent complaints from clients who have purchased “deals” such as Angie’s List Big Deal, Groupon and Living Social we have decided to opt out of offering these deals in the future. All of the poor reviews recently received on Angie’s List have been from deal –buying clients who expect a $500 deep clean when in actuality what they purchased was 2 hours of basic cleaning services. We can clean what we can in two hours, but we cannot make a client’s home new again and apparently many of these deal-buying clients do not understand this. Unfortunately as well, many satisfied clients never take the time to leave a good review (and we have tons of satisfied clients, we wouldn’t still be in business, or do business at the volume that we do, if we didn’t have tons of satisfied clients) but those who are left unhappy because we would not deep clean their home in 2 hours time for $89 (and we only receive $44.50 from every deal purchased and that doesn’t even cover our payroll costs) are the first to go online and bash us on places like Angie’s List and Yelp. We’re done with these “deals”. We’ve learned our lesson the hard way.

I was looking for a full time cleaning service and this was a trial run. I won't be hiring them again. Very disappointed given previous reviews.
Description of Work: I asked the team to concentrate on bathrooms and floors. They left 15 minutes earlier, 30 minutes in man hours, and the toilet bowl still had a black water ring in it. Additionally, basic surfaces were not cleaned such as kitchen counters and table tops.

You all “claim” to be looking for a regular service when in actuality all you are looking for is a cleaning on the cheap. First off…you paid $89 NOT $100. The team was there for the allotted time and could not finish cleaning your 2,000 sq ft home in the time allowed by the deal. Next time maybe try getting off your wallet and you’ll get the service you’re looking for.

They did a good job of dusting but a lousy job on the floors. Nothing got moved or cleaned underneath it, not even a small very light weight footstool. The mop they had to use was awful and left half of the dirt on the floor.

I hired them in December 2011. They did a good job the initial cleaning, they called me if they were going to be late. Found a couple of people that I liked the way they cleaned my house and asked for them to be my main cleaners. I was pleased for the first few months but the quality started to drop off. I liked the fact I got a checklist so I knew what was done and that every room was cleaned and I knew who was in my house. For the past two months I stopped receiving the check list and noticed that things weren't being dusted. Fair enough, we have alot of furniture, things get missed from time to time, I can handle that. Two weeks ago my bedroom was overlooked so I sent an email letting the QC manager know that my room wasn't cleaned and that my window sill looked like it hadn't been touched in a while and I was disappinted in the quality of the cleaning lately. She was very nice about it and sent someone back the next day to finish. I was pleased with the results. Came home from work yesterday and my bedroom was again, overlooked and a piece of furniture looked like it hadn't been touched in a while. I just complained about the same thing two weeks ago! I finally had enough and sent an email asking for my key back. To miss pieces of furniture is annoying but I can handle it but to completely skip a room TWICE in a row is unacceptable. I shouldn't have to ask them to come back to finish the job. It's a waste of my time and theirs.

I had purchased a deal for 4 man hours of cleaning. 2 cleaners arrived on time. They did a great job of the cooker and hood and the bathrooms. They also cleaned the floors well. They needed more time to clean the basement, but the cost was $60 for them to work for 1/2 an hour, which I thought was pricey, so I did not hire them for the extra time. I have no complains about their work.

The quality of service varied, depending on who was cleaning the house. We initially had two women who were really good. We asked if they could clean our house every time, and they did, for a while. At some point, that changed, and we had different people coming in. Their work wasn’t as consistent. They did a decent job. One thing I didn’t like was that they don’t do certain things. For instance, they did the floors, but they didn’t polish the furniture or dust it, even if the couches had pet hair on them. Their price was very good. They were very responsive. I’ve decided not to use any companies to clean my house. I would rather just use one person.

Thank you for the feedback for the cleanings we did for you in 2011. I would like to point out that this client was over 30 miles from our office and it took our team over 40 mins to drive to her home. That said, she was paying a discounted rate per cleaning as requested by the client and due to this discounted rate we were not able to provide a full level of service to the client. Certain things had to be taken off of our "to-do" list to accomodate the discounted price of her cleaning and this included polishing her furniture and vacuuming her sofas. Dusting was included that was done at every cleaning. Often times you can get your house cleaned for a very low price by an independent cleaner or a company that isn't an actual legit business, however, there are trade-offs. Often times they are not insured or bonded. Sometimes they "claim" to be insured but when asked for proof can't or won't produce it. What will you do if something in your home is broken or damaged and your house cleaner doesn't have the money to fix or replace it? Chances are they won't have the money. What will you do if your house cleaner is injured while working in your home? Technically, they can sue you for their injury. Also, since they are not a legit business, they are technically your employee(s) and you must report any wages paid of $1800 or more per year to the IRS. Those weekly or bi-weekly cleanings will quickly add up to $1800 or more a year. Not only do you have to report it, but you also must withhold and submit your employee's social security and Medicare taxes along with paying your share of employer taxes on your worker to the IRS. Granted, you could ignore the law and hope the IRS never finds out but why take the chance? If you don't mind taking the time to learn the tax laws, filing the proper returns, withholding the taxes for your house cleaner and writing a check to cover your portion of the employer taxes, or you don't mind hiring an accountant to do it for you, then perhaps hiring an independent house cleaner is for you. An independent house cleaner might also be for you If you are willing to chance your belongings and your home to someone without insurance and without the resources to fix any damage they may cause. However, any savings you might find going this route will probably be negated by the time all is said and done. To be on the safe side you could just hire a legitimate house cleaning service and let them take care of the tax regulations and insurance issues. It's your money, your home and your choice.

I am generally satisfied with their service and plan to continue to use them. The reason I rated them a B and not an A is that there is some inconsistency depending on which team shows up. Some are more thorough than others. There is also some inconsistency in the times that they arrive. I'm supposed to be scheduled within a 2 hour window, but have had teams arrive from 30 minutes early to an hour late . When I call the office to get an estimate on arrival time, I always get sent to voicemail. They do call back though.

Having been there on Easter and seeing it myself I agree it was a total turn around from how the house usually looks. They made things sparkle that I was sure were doomed to be dingy forever. February 26, 2012 Dear Mrs. ....., I found your service from Angie?s List and am giving you the courtesy of hearing from me before I post an unsatisfactory review on there. I contracted with your company to do a Deep Cleaning for Friday, 2/24 at ......Coventry. I realize that there was a scheduling problem as we had delays due to wood flooring that was being installed and I did appreciate being fit in. I explained this to (supervisor) and told her that we would need a thorough cleaning because of the sawdust resulting from the installation. When (removed for privacy) and her crew showed up before 11 a.m. on Friday, I explained to her that all the walls, baseboards, and doors would need to be washed due to the sawdust deposit. (removed for privacy) stated that we were not down for a Deep Cleaning and needed to call her supervisor. I must tell you now that this home was devoid of furniture making the cleaning quite easy. She also commented that this home would be easy to do. Less than 2 hours later, she called to say they were through which thoroughly amazed me but now I understand why they were done so ?quickly?. They didn?t do the job well at all. I think that....... was surprised also because she came to inspect personally. When we arrived back at the home, I asked her if they were able to clean all the kitchen cabinets and she said yes. I also asked her if she used the stools in the garage and she stated that she was tall enough to reach everything. Well she obviously was not as the cabinet above the refrigerator and stove were not done nor was the top of the refrigerator. In the dining area of the kitchen, we had a linen chest sitting. As I was checking to see if the sawdust was off the chest, I moved the chest only to find a HUGE amount of sawdust beneath it. Evidently they did not vacuum or wash under the chest. She was embarrassed and did clean under it for us. Then I noticed that the blinds were still full of sawdust and she proceeded to take care of that. I wondered how they could have washed the windows without the sawdust falling on them and I still am wondering if they were even done. I must add here that we did not stay to supervise because (1) there is no furniture to sit on and (2) I wrongly assumed that this was a professional crew that could be trusted to do the job well.The supervisor appeared shortly thereafter which I found interesting and did her walk through and also found things that were not done. She did make them clean the items she found. She found crumbs in the kitchen drawers. After they left, we found crumbs under the cabinets which made us look further to see what they had not done. I have listed what we found: KITCHEN: Behind sink faucet not cleaned Refrigerator shelves had crud in between shelves Light fixtures not cleaned. Dirty with dead insects in them Blind over sink full of sawdust Cabinet over fridge not cleaned and top of refrigerator filthy ? 9see sample0 Under stove and refrigerator not vacuumed. ? see sample Stove drawer never cleaned Smooth top of stove not cleaned well. I left cleaner for them. Grease on top of microwave, in louvers and underneath GREEN BEDROOM Sawdust on walls, blinds and doors not washed (sample included) BLUE BEDROOM Doors not washed- at this point I gave up looking for sawdust on walls as I knew there would be some. I would assume that washing woodwork would include doors and blinds. Cobwebs in closet LIVING ROOM Cobwebs in corners of room Blinds dirty. BATH I believe a mop was used on floor and I needed to get down and wash around the toilet base to get dirt out. Fan in ceiling not touched and FULL of sawdust that can be removed with a vacuum. I spent yesterday trying to clean up after them instead of painting so that my daughter could move in this weekend. That is not happening. My daughter did the walk through with the supervisor and on the surface, things did look good but on closer observation, the above appeared. At a cost of $350 and with not being able to use the 20% coupon that I printed off Angie?s website which was also an incentive to call your company, I truly believe that this job could have been done much better especially considering that it was upgraded from Moving In cleaning because I knew that a lot had to be done. I had explained to the supervisor that my daughter is highly allergic to oak and could not breathe in the house which is why we were hiring someone to do it. Also, no one should have to live with another family?s dirt which is why your business is so important to people who are moving into a home. I guess when I chose your firm off of Angie?s list; I expected that women would be cleaning this home. I did not expect young adults to be doing it and I feel that only a woman who has owned/lived in her own home, could understand what needs to be done in a home to make it clean. Some things can?t be ?taught? to young adults who don?t care to take pride in their job, as evidenced by the two young people who remained in the car while she was cleaning up after them. The supervisor did manage to get one person to come inside but the other person remained in the car. I apologize for the length of this letter but felt that you needed to be apprised of this situation since your company?s reputation must be important to you. I realize that we are only a customer but having been in the service industry for the past 53 years, I believe that feedback from customer is important even if it is negative. Our experience with Ocean State Cleaning Services was obviously very disappointing.
Description of Work: Contracted for a Deep Cleaning/Move-In cleaning after renovations to the home we recently purchased. When I called to make the appointment, I was specific on what I wanted done. I also asked for the 20% discount offered on Angie's List but was told I was not eligible for that discount. If not, I do not know why it is even offered. I must say that I have been told that companies do not pay to be on Angie's List but since they contract with them to offer Special Offers, it would seem that there must be some kind of "contract" with them. The estimate given was for the deep cleaning of the home we had recently purchased and I was originally told that it could cost $440. I ended up paying $350 but after I contacted them with my displeasure, they did give me the 20% discount and refunded me $70. A previous customer posted her email to them after she experienced the same type of cleaning that I had. I also sent a letter to them and will include it in this review. PLEASE NOTE: IF you use them and find that you are NOT happy with what they did, you need to contact them IMMEDIATELY -- within 24 hours as is their request. . At the risk of appearing to "go overboard" in my complaint tactics, I actually sent the company paper towels with the evidence of the sawdust, grease and dirt that I found in the home AFTER they cleaned. That is how disgusted I was with the job they did. We had new hardwood floors put in four rooms and a hallway and three coats of poly with sanding in between and it did leave a lot of sawdust. After they left, we noticed that every hardwood floor was scuffed and scratched. I can only think that the cleaners must have dragged their canister vacuum along behind them because the floor were brand new before they were on them,OR they wore shoes that were inappropriate for house cleaning (dark soles). We also expected it to be devoid of dirt left by the previous owner who was only required to do minimal cleaning before leaving the home. So with all of that said, my letter to the company is posted below. As I stated before, I was contacted and told that I should have called them the next day. Since I had already tried to contact them on a Saturday and only got an answering service, I felt it would be better to put my complaint in writing. I did not expect them to send a crew back on Monday since I spent Saturday doing a deep cleaning myself and wrote the letter the next day. Note: I removed the names of the crew and supervisor out of respect for their privacy. Would I use them again? No but I do think that they might be good for weekly cleaning, something my daughter was hoping to hire them for. Of course she no longer cares to do that.

Our company sent a quality control manager to visit the home during the cleaning, and reported that the member was present during at least the last hour of the cleaning or longer. A walkthrough of the home was done by our manager, the workers re-addressed a few items under our manager’s advisement, and then the member and her daughter were walked through each room of the home together with our manager. Any issues of concern could have been addressed at that time. The workers were told to take off their shoes by the membe and her daughter, and were also told to take care with the floors, so they carried the vacuum’s barrel body by the handle. According to our manager, the member was witness to all of these things, so it is unclear why claims are being made that the floors were scuffed by shoes and vacuums, or that items were not cleaned when the team was cleaning those items in front of the customer. If there had been concerns while the team was still in the home, it could have been addressed at that time. Dust from construction remains airborne and re-settles for several weeks following construction. It does not surprise me in the least that construction dust should reappear the following day(s) afterwards. That being said, I do not understand why the member made no attempt to contact our office the following day when she discovered that newly cleaned surfaces seemed unclean. Even if she had been redirected to an answering service the message could have been left in due diligence towards addressing any questions, comments or concerns. Additionally, email services are also available to contact our company in an expedient fashion. The home was reviewed by management and was informed by the customer at the time of the appointment that the job had been performed satisfactorily. Given that the grades on this review reflect mostly on the price, it is my opinion that this customer was interested in a low-cost job, which she did not order.

I have been using Ocean State House Cleaning for six years. Teams of two come every other week. They are on time and trustworthy. I leave them a list of things to do and they sign the list. We are not always home and we have never had a problem.
