Papis Painting

I requested a quote for some exterior paint touch up. I felt it a bit high, but still reasonable. He insisted on being paid up front in cash which made me a bit uncomfortable. I went ahead with the job in spite of my misgivings. It was fairly minor so I figured he couldn't screw it up too badly. The job was supposed to take no more than a day. It's been weeks since he started and it still has not been completed. He keeps promising to return and finish but never has. A myriad of excuses always follows his failure to complete this work. Now he's stopped responding to my calls and messages. I decide to do a little research and discover his license lapsed back in 2018 and has never been renewed. This isn't even a legitimate business. Don't even reach out to this guy. He's a criminal.

Our experience with Mamadou was beyond frustrating - it was infuriating. He was hired in October 2020 to paint the exterior of our house and replace wood as necessary. He began sanding and preparatory work in October with several workers, although he himself rarely appeared. He has said many times that he would finish the job before winter, which he did not. In fact, as of August 2021 - YES! 10 MONTHS LATER! - he has STILL not finished the job. He has been storing his equipment here - ladders, old/open paint cans, etc - on the sidewalk of our house since he began, which obviously inhibited the use of our sidewalk. His workers did not show up again until May, at which he said he would have it done in two weeks. He has used every excuse from illnesses, graduations, and even that his workers were "drunk due to a holiday". As for his "team" - one person would show up, do an insignificant amount of work for about 4 hours once or twice a week, then not show up for another few weeks. Occasionally he had multiple workers who clearly did not mesh well, as evidenced by awkward yelling at one another leading to the storming off of one individual. We were clearly on the radar, as Mamadou himself would occasionally swing by after-hours (even on Saturdays!) and quietly take a ladder or two - presumably for another job - before disappearing for another 2 weeks. As for the wood he was supposed to replace - he didn't. He has his worker fill in the expanded cracks with putty, not even bothering to sand it down or even attempt to make it look like anything other than an ill-formed bar of clay. I'm at the point where the sight of them incites anger - again - as of August 2021, he has still not finished painting the exterior of our house!! Our neighbors had their houses of equivalent size painted in a little over a week, and Mamadou has still not finished our house after TEN MONTHS! I would NEVER recommend this person for any job.

My husband and I bought a new home in May last year and wanted to repaint several rooms before moving in. Mamadou met with me and gave me a couple of fan decks from which to choose colors. He got to work quickly and completed the rooms within a few weeks. The work was perfect. I agonized over painting the kitchen cabinets because it seemed like such a big job but he said "why not?" So I immediately felt confident to go ahead. He came with his carpenter, removed the doors, spray painted them (and the wood knobs I had found) at his shop, painted the rest of the cabinets and had it all done before we moved in in June. It was all perfect. And to top it off, he is very clean and tidy, professional, and an absolute delight to work with. I can't recommend him highly enough!

All work completed by Papis Painting was to perfection and we have and will continue to recommend him without hesitation. He has a mild temperament and a desire to please. Simply said, he is a quality person!
