I originally hired Mr. Fix It to repair a toilet in a tenant's apartment while I was out of town and couldn't reach my plumber. We did not meet in person. The job went smoothly enough, so I contracted him to replace a door. He also informed me at that time that he could power-wash moss that was growing on my walkways. I agreed to have him do that job too. He took many breaks, so it took a couple of days for him do get the door in place, but still no finishing of the frame, or caulking. I was out of town for a few weeks, when I returned I called Mr. Fix it to return to finish the door (filling gaps in the frame and caulking, along with cement under the threshold). He said he would bring an assistant along to do the power washing. I am always on the premises when I contractor I don't know well is working. I didn't notice when he first arrived, but when he got close to me looking at the work to be done, I could smell alcohol. Mr. Fix It worked for about half an hour, then took off leaving the 18 year old assistant to do the washing.........the kid had never operated a power washer before. When Mr. Fix It returned several hours later, he was clearly drunk.......VERY drunk. I told him that I couldn't have him doing any more work for me. He was always several hours late when times were scheduled, then he show up too late, and too drunk to do anything. He got very hostile, swore at me, then dumped cement on my front step, splashing it onto my car. My son had to step in, fearing Mr. Fix was going to hit me. He was raging. He eventually gathered his things and left. I wouldn't let the assistant travel with a drunk driver, so I arranged for his transportation home. I have NEVER experienced anything like this! We've all had a contractor we weren't totally happy with, at one time or another. But, never one who is totally intoxicated on a regular basis, swears at you, and verges on violence because of their own behavior.
Description of Work: Installed and entry door, but didn't complete the task.

I have had experience with handyman services and it is called 'Mr. Fix It'. I think he was very good. I like them. I think that he did a good job for me. He is very reliable, a reliable guy. He has people who work for him do very good work. He doesn't do all the work himself but he hires out a lot of it. I was happy with the work he did. The quality of work was variable, some times was really, really well and sometimes it is okay.
Description of Work: He actually remodeled 2 bathrooms for me.
