Dusty the company owner was to have the walkway installed by Dec of 2018. Work was finally finished Aug of 2019. He had all sort of excuses for delays. He gave us an overall plan and pricing but then when he did the work he forgot that he needed to take the walkway all the way to the top sidewalk so when he set the highest step in the walkway he didn’t sink it in low enough and this forced more of a slope than was wanted. Finished job at the top of the walk is jagged and stones were not cut to make a clean line to match what was done at the bottom of the walkway. Owner was unreliable and we had to regularly call him to find why he wasn’t on the job. Pleasant guy to talk to but terrible landscape contractor. Unreliable, poor planning and bad execution.

The walkway completely fell apart over the year. He didn't use cement between the stones, but he used some cheap mortar from somewhere. I found this out from the contractor who had to redo the whole thing. I just finished having it redone last week. His name is Dusten Hamlin. He is a stone mason who was listed in a local paper. He did a terrible job. I just finished having it redone last week. He was absolutely awful. I had to call the contractor’s board, and they never called me back. My next call was to the Attorney General’s office to try to get my money back. It was an absolute nightmare. Dusten talked me into paying him before he got the job done. I really wasn't comfortable with it, but he said he hadn't done anything that should make me not trust him. He said he needed to be paid and so forth. Once he got his money, he was not there even after a week went by, and then another week went by. It ended up taking three months to do a job that should have taken only a week. He was absolutely terrible when it came to punctuality. On the days he did come he would only come for a few hours, and then would leave. My husband wrote a letter to him with a carbon copy to the Contractor's Board of Registration. The Contractor's Board came out and looked at the work. He ruled in favor of the contractor. He said it didn't look like anything was amiss. I called him this year over the winter and it all just came apart. We could actually lift the bricks off the steps. The mortar between the bricks just became dust. It was a liability to have that there. If somebody had stepped on that brick and it just fell off then we were in trouble. I never contacted him after everything started falling apart. After our experience with him and him not returning calls or getting back to us, we felt that was a waste of our time.
