NARRAGANSETT RUBBISH

Every year during the academic year, I need to call to complain that the trash is not being picked up weekly at my rental house. My rental house is the only backyard pickup on the street. This year, I accidentally discovered that the trash was not picked up for 7 to 8 weeks. My students were not living there for 5 of those weeks since they were home on semester break. I am certain of this since I live next door and was checking for frozen pipes in my rental for 3 of those weeks, also the houses are 7 feet apart and 7 ft from the street with on-street parking. The last week of the semester break, the flip top on the trash barrel blew open and I noticed the barrel was full of trash, indicating the trash had not been picked up since before my students left. Before I could call NRR, my students called to complain that the trash hadn't been picked up since a few weeks before they left for break and they also noticed this a few times during the semester. I called the company told them about the problem and asked for a refund for 8 weeks. They contacted the driver who of course insisted I was wrong. I was told I needed another barrel. The owner eventually got on the phone and was rude to me. He said I upset his secretary and I couldn't possibly know my students weren't living in the house. I simply maintained the facts...I live next door, etc. I did raise my voice when I knew they were not acknowledging that I needed a refund and that the driver was mistaken. I never said anything off-color, just maintained the facts. I was asked if I collected fees for trash from my students, I assume as justification for refusing to pay ME. This is one of the costs of running my business and I contract directly with NRR. My students do not contract with NRR. The service was not performed and he owed ME a refund. They initially offered me a $23 refund which is two weeks of service. He owed me at least 8 weeks. I would have accepted 5 weeks, and told them that, because I knew for a fact from MY observation (not my students') that my students were not living there during that time & no trash was collected. Because I was not accepting of the $23, the owner insisted I was calling his driver a liar, and that I couldn't possibly know that my students weren't living there, etc. I was very angry at this point and told him he was the liar in this situation. He hung up the phone. I have put in a complaint with the BBB and I have canceled service with them. To those you that use NRR especially for rental homes, I say, buyer beware......Be sure they are doing their job. From my point of view, when the drivers don't do their jobs, the owner backs them up, particularly when you ask for a refund for services not rendered!! One final note, I complained that they left trash on the ground around the barrel. They asked the driver who denied it. I had to actually insist on texting them a photo of the mess before they would believe me. To their credit, they did send the driver to pick up the mess.

WE COMPARED THEIR PRICE WITH OTHERS. THEY ARE ABOUT AVERAGE FOR THIS AREA. I HAVE HIRED THIS COMPANY IN THE PAST, AND THEY DO GREAT EVERY TIME. I REALLY LIKE THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY NEVER RUSH ME LIKE OTHER COMPANIES HAVE.
