Calyx did both a kitchen and bath remodel at my house a couple months ago and we were thrilled with the results! It was a very professional experience with full transparency. Being someone with not much construction experience they really explained everything in depth with me and walked me through the process. I was very descriptive in what i was looking for and they more then delivered. For any future projects I will be reaching out to Calyx again!

Awful experience. Hired Bob to renovate a 3/4 story of a cape house into a full second story. I was told they do this sort of scope "10x per year". What ensued was a small crew of misfits showing up at my house and hacking together framing and roofing that neither met manufacturer or industry standards, nor passed inspection. Additionally, despite multiple assurances that my first floor would be kept dry and in tact during the renovation, there was substantial water damage to my first floor after one minor rainfall because the crew left my ceiling exposed overnight. And the next day they told me nothing hoping I wouldn't find out. So now I have to renovate the first floor due to mold, and my house is uninhabitable. I was told they would take care of everything and they did nothing. Every other word out of the crew's mouth was f this and f that, they all smoked and upon several site visits I smelled marijuana. Absolutely embarrassing for my neighborhood. To add insult to injury, after multiple complaints regarding lack of project management and poor workmanship, all I received was a bill for work that now has to be corrected in order to pass inspection and meet the design of my construction documents. Bob Brierly is a fraud. He sells the project well, then handed it off to the cheapest subs he could find and walks away. So instead of moving back into my house this week as agreed to in the contract, me and my two children have to find alternative housing while I wait for professionals to remediate the damage Calyx caused. Beware, these guys have no conscience and I highly recommend running a background check before you hire Bob Brierly.

Not good. I paid 100k for a leaky bathroom, poor communication, poor workmanship.

I have nothing but great things to say about Calyx! I didn't review all A's just to be nice. They were absolutely incredible... professional, the quality of the work was above and beyond and they finished one month AHEAD of schedule without cutting any corners. I gave them a magazine picture of how I wanted my custom bookshelves designed - and they matched it exactly! I would highly recommend Calyx. George Jr., the project manager, was available night and day and personally visited to make sure that the work was done in a quality manner. Every single sub-contractor was outstanding. 100% highly recommended!

Calyx was very professional and friendly. They completed work ahead of schedule for the agreed amount. They took care of everything for our project that was very big! The bathroom is beautiful and better than we expected.

Exceptionally well! This was our first home remodel where we hired a contractor and team. We have done other work/projects on our own around the house but knew for the money we planned on spending we wanted everything done right and timely. Bob, Julie, and Melo could not have been more professional and easy to work with! They provided detailed and itemized quotes and updates on a regular bases. Every junction was clearly defined and billing was easy to understand and match to the work completed. We added a few change orders that made the overall project a bit more than the original quote but we were kept up to date on everything we changed and knew what to expect. We are so happy to be back in our home and everyone who sees the finished work is extremely impressed.

We could not be happier with the process or the results! Everyone at Calyx was wonderful to work with and incredibly skilled. The work required was extensive and was completed in a timely manner. The project manager kept in contact throughout the renovation and we always felt like each person working on our house genuinely cared about producing the best result possible. I felt that we were lucky to have true craftsmen working on the project. We had workmen in and out of the house for a couple of months, and they were all pleasant and courteous. I could not recommend this company more. We would definitely use them on our next project.

When we were ready to begin the process of adding a bathroom to a room in our house, I reached out to friends who had recently completed renovation work. No one would recommend their contractors. I noticed Calyx signs going up and down in my neighborhood and called for a quote. From that first phone call to the completed bathroom all of Calyx, including Bob, George Jr and George Sr were amazing. The communication of progress, expectations, and the high quality of work left me with absolutely the best experience ever. From the day of demolition to the final inspection was less than 2 months. The amount we were quoted was exactly what we paid, plus one small overage based on a decision my husband and I made. All the workers through our house those two months were respectful, friendly, courteous, and professional. Also, it's nice to know there is a two year warranty: ten minutes after George Jr left for the last time, I was admiring the bathroom, and I noticed a very small leak. I called George and a plumber came the next day to fix it, no extra charge. I have already recommended Calyx to all my friends and neighbors and now to the world.

We were very pleased with the results from Calyx. They were professional and did good work across the board. The project proceeded as quickly as the town inspectors would allow (widening the entrance to the kitchen required structural work). Calyx stuck to the budget and there were no surprises along the way. I would hire them again for future work.

Calyx did an excellent job on my kitchen remodel. Two walls were removed and a huge island was put in. The wife couldn't be happier with the cabinets. The team works very well together and is very helpful during the entire process. The lead finish carpenter (?) was very knowledgeable and was a real perfectionist which I like. George Jr. always responded via email and texts very promptly which was appreciated. They did an excellent job of keeping the work area as clean as possible. The work was completed right on schedule. The only reason the total paid was more than the estimate (which was much lower than anyone else in the area) was because we kept adding upgrades that were well worth it! I would highly recommend Calyx and would happily hire them again in the future.

Fine! They were clean and professional and right on time. They came back to seal the door for me and caulk the frame as well. They also replaced a small part on the door’s hardware so it would match.

The entire project went very well. The plan was laid out for us in detail before we signed the contract. Once we had picked out our cabinets, countertop, flooring, etc., work began within a few weeks as promised. Everyone we dealt with was very professional and did high quality work. Lauren, our project manager, followed up on a regular basis. Any questions or concerns were imediately addressed. It was completed within the expected time frame and the finished kithchen actually exceeded our expectations.

The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Bob came promptly to review the scope of work, provided us with an estimate within a couple days, and began work the following week. His crew is terrific.....very professional, prompt and thorough. Thanks for such a great experience!

Calyx removed all bathroom fixtures, demolished the floor, sistered and supported some of the joists, installed a new flat subfloor, tiled the bathroom with tiles that I supplied. and reinstalled all the fixtures with new plumbing. They also re-drywalled a section of the bathroom wall that was missing. They initially told me that the work could take up to two weeks, and they ended up finishing in 10 days - I was very pleased. While I initially felt the quote was on the pricey side, given the accelerated timeframe, and excellent job that they did, I believe it was a fair price.

Calyx was very professional from our initial meeting to the final walk through. Bob (the owner) had consulted with us about the project and listened to all our needs which was evident in the detailed proposal outlining what services were being provided coupled with a realistic timeline. In the process of remodeling, we did work with their vendors in selecting various materials - Paul at Simon Supply was extremely helpful and got us exactly what we wanted. We were happy to deal with such good vendors and to hear from the vendors how pleasant it was for them to work with Calyx (this gave us further reassurance that we picked a quality subcontractor). Communication on the project was relatively open during the entire project whereby we knew what was happening next. We would definitely use them again as they were able to work within our budget, the final product was what we agreed upon and the fact that everyone at Calyx (from top down) was professional.

in both cases, Calyx was professional, on time, attentive to our needs, and responsive in the rare case where we had concerns. Were they the cheapest quote? not always, but I am willing to pay for excellent work, and Calyx worked to that standard. I would not hesitate to call them for any future project and I routinely recommend them to friends.

We picked Calyx after seeing their reviews on Angie's list and after meeting with Bob. We loved their work on our upstairs bathroom and kitchen ceiling and didn't think twice about hiring them again for the renovation of our 1st floor bathroom. The staff members communicated with us efficiently via e-mail, phone and in person. The work done is high quality and done right the first time. We know we could have had the project done with another company for a lower price, but I don't think we would have received the quality work and materials that we received when we choose Calyx. We are already thinking about future updates we would like to make to our home and know we will hire Calyx for the jobs.

Went well. This was a small job for a construction company, but they took it on and were able to fit it in with their larger jobs. Once construction was started it went very quickly. I'm no expert, but it all looks like really nice work.

Very poorly. Roof was left open during a rainstorm resulting in flooding inside the house. After completion of the job, a roof leak occurred that had not previously existed. ALMOST 2 YEARS LATER, DESPITE A NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS, CALYX CANNOT RENDER THE ROOF WEATHER TIGHT. Still getting water in the house during rainstorms. I strongly recommend you stay away from this contractor. They have not stood by their work and I'll have to pay someone else to fix the problem that Calyx created.

On time, within scope. The workers left our premises neat.

Ahead of time everything was explained and an estimate given to us. The work started on time and was completed in the time specified. The workers were thorough and made certain that everything went well. They were always polite, professional and considerate and always cleaned up after themselves.

Back in July I have published two posts the Houzz website. One on “How” we went about selecting a design/build company to completely re-gut/remodel our master bathroom and the other one on “Who” (Calyx Builds) and “Why” we selected them. I promised then that "lose or win" I will make the results of the project public. We were very happy all through the project and elated with the results. Many of us know how difficult it is to find a credible, caring, fairly priced design/build company and all of us lived through and /or heard horror stories about lousy contractors, electricians, plumbers etc... So here we go… Here is a success story. Calyx Build management made a very positive impression from the first meeting. Out of 10 potential companies they did not promise to listen to us, they really did. They were the only ones who called to confirm the meeting, came exactly on time, brought (unsolicited) a folder with company history, references, financial and technical information, a copy of every license, certification,insurance, references from current and former clients and pictures of projects. The proposal reflected every detail we mentioned, the price was not the highest and not the lowest and very well justified... the terms protected us and them. We were very comfortable signing the contract. We started the last week in July and finished the last week in September. After all the noise and destruction and dirt and dust and stress of living in a construction site… we were done and done! And guess what? We will definitely do it again and unquestionably with the same contractor. The final product (see pictures) is better than “GREAT” and surpasses all of our fantasies and dreams. We had a beautiful master bathroom in the house that we custom built in 1985. There was nothing wrong with it other than age and the “dated look” … and so we embarked on the mission of bringing our out-of-date master to the current century. We made it! Almost on time (we lost a week or so (our decision) to Jewish Holidays, on budget and with a lot of joy and pride from the work well done! At all times we felt very secure in our decision and the progress of the project. Similar to every construction project there were a few unexpected “surprises” along the way but they were quickly, efficiently and professionally dealt with to everybody’s satisfaction. Our talented Project Manager seemed to know everything about everything and could figure out a way to fix any and all unexpected predicaments before they became issues. He managed the project and the resources with ease that comes only after many years of experience, in-depths knowledge, credibility in the eyes of the specialists and an evident quest for perfection. He projected unwavering confidence all through the project and when he offered advice it was apparent that he kept our best interest (and vision) in mind. The team had the best, most qualified members for every major technical, technological and esthetic function of the job. We had the best plumber, electrician, tile team, carpenters, painters, glass and mirrors installers… I hope I did not forget anybody. In a couple of instances where mistakes were made, they were corrected in no time without conversations of “extra cost” or attempts to “shift faults” which are unfortunately so common during re-modeling projects. I should also mention the special function (that glue that kept us all together) represented by the Office Manager (Kathy. Hers is the only name I use) The names of other team members would depend on the team that would be assigned to you...From our experience they are all good. Kathy was the daily communication link between us and the various trade resources, a trusted adviser on various and sundry questions that come up almost every day and on occasion a client psychiatrist. Believe me, we can all use one those on a major construction project. The owner of the company kept a thoughtful eye on the progress all through its duration with sincere interest in having the work done well, fast and to our total satisfaction. If I had to summarize all of the above in one word… “TRUST” would be the word I would use to describe our relationship! We were very lucky to have the team we had. I wish I had another project… maybe next year!

Everything went really well. They were very attentive. When we had a of minor issues with their subcontractors work, they responded right away and were eager to fix the issue.
