Bob worked closely with us and his contractors to the conclusion of each project. He was always accessible, often at the project, knowledgeable, and flexible. I understand Bob was a custom home builder for many years. His expertise and experience were clearly visible as he guided us through each project from start to finish. In the end the kitchen turned out even better that we first envisioned as we were able to add a cathedral ceiling where the porch was with a small half round window and large sliding glass windows all around overlooking the backyard. We call it our sun room with a moon window because the moonlight streams in the window at times. Bob?s team of contractors were all excellent craftsmen in their trades, and not one thing had to be redone except for the smallest of touch ups. We were impressed over and over at their courtesy, cleanliness, and skill. Bob was extremely flexible when we requested changes to the original plan, and although, of course, it increased the cost, we now gravitate to new kitchen when we are home because of the beautiful finishes. We also had 2 dogs and a cat to be concerned with during demolition and construction, and the workers were always careful and aware of their presence. Bob and his crew did an amazing job! He prepared a very detailed contract setting out parameters for the scope of work. His crew was friendly, professional and always cleaned up each day after themselves. Bob was great at communicating with us each step of the way and the job was finished on time. While Bob was not the cheapest quote we received the level of service and attention to detail that he provided was worth the price! When the job was finished my husband said that our new bathrooms looked too nice to use! We will absolutely use Bob in the future for any home improvement projects.

Really things went as well as we could have wished. Bob is great about letting you know the schedule and sticking to it. There were no hidden surprises.

Bob showed up to give my daughter an estimate on her kitchen when I was there. I liked that he arrived on time, and handed her references and a portfolio of his work so I decided to have him give me a quote on my kitchen remodel. My kitchen hadn't been remolded since the early 50's so it needed to be stripped down to the studs. Bob came out to bid on the job and immediately pointed out a couple of things that might present a problem during the remodel so I wouldn't be surprised by any changes. Fortunately he was able to address the issue with no additional cost for me. While the remodel was in progress, Bob called every day to keep me updated (sometimes several times a day) and always answered any phone calls or e-mails promptly(often within minutes!) When I struggled with some material choices Bob was able to offer alternative suggestions and always took the time to explain when ever I had questions. If I pointed out something I didn't like, Bob always took care of it immediately with no fuss or argument. I would highly recommend Bob to anyone - and I have. He is currently remodeling a colleague's kitchen and I plan on using him again on another project.

Bob was prompt and professional from our very first contact. He understood my vision for the project and came up with an excellent design. He met every deadline and I was very pleased with the quality of the work. I would use him again in a heartbeat. I am thrilled with my results.

It went really well. It was hard to find someone who was interested in doing a small job (big to me, but small in contracting terms). Bob came to inspect the job right on time, gave me a disc with other work he had done (which also gave me ideas) and references. This was the only bathtub/shower in the house, so being out of commission was something to deal with, and Bob was totally sensitive to that. We spoke every day - he was wonderful in letting me know what was happening next. I wanted to note that when I researched Calyx Homes, it was noted they were not the cheapest. That is true - and not a bad thing. I really liked that Bob had different professionals that knew their specific skill and did it well. You do get what you pay for! There was a problem with my other toilet and Bob fixed it without charging any more. We are very happy with the result and would totally recommend Calyx Homes and use them again.

The jobs were well developed and explained. The follow-through was excellent.

The project was started and completed within the timeframe, these guys worked long hours and were nice and friendly and just a pleasure to have around. I was amazed how quickly they put everything together, I LOVE my new bathroom, much more space,storage and very cozy.

He was extremely professional. He got back to me the same day I put the request in. He called the same day and came very quickly. He had a very organized proposal. I was very impressed with him but his price was very high. His proposal was almost double some other estimates I got. If he weren’t so expensive I would have definitely gone with him. The proposal was done perfectly. It was all typed up with references. He gave us a CD with his work. He was just what we were looking for. We would get another estimate from him.

All 3 projects with Caylx Builds went great. Before choosing Caylx Builds I called and interviewed about 4 or 5 other local contractors. Caylx Builds was far and away the most professional and trustworthy. Bob (the president of Caylx Builds) is always on-time, and takes care to inspect your job and understand what you want/need to have done. Caylx always provided me with a clear formal job quote with an exact price, time frame, terms, and no small print. Among others there are two primary reasons why I would use and recommend Caylx Builds again. --When Caylx Builds gives you a start and finish date for a job you can count on it. All three jobs Caylx performed for me were started and completely finished exactly as the original quote stated. Before 1 job I informed Caylx that I would need the job completed before a certain date because I would be traveling for work. Caylx adjusted their schedule around my travel without a problem. --The president of Caylx Builds, Bob Brierley is very accessible and easy to work with. During all 3 jobs there were times when I wanted to make a change, had questions, or needed an explanation about some of the work that was done. I could always call Bob directly or have him respond to an email promplty. For example, after the first day of construction for the building of an addition I was inspecting the outlines of the addition and wanted to make the room slightly larger. I spoke to Bob the next day and asked for the enlargement, without hesitation Bob said he would do his best to make the change. The change was made with no increase in cost or delay in construction.

Bob always answers the phone or calls back promptly. He comes when he says he will come and the work gets done in a timely manner, Final payment only when all is done to our satisfaction. He remodeled out kitchen too and that was a great experience.

Since our home is almost 28 years old the kitchen and family rooms were greatly in need of updating. Many of our neighbors had used Calyx Homes for remodeling work, so we called Bob Brierly to set up an appointment to talk about doing the work here. When we met, Bob listened carefully to our vision of the work and he offered many suggestions. Over the course of the next few weeks, we met several more times as drawings were presented and updated. We finally agreed upon the scope of work and the price. We visited the appliance, flooring and tile dealers that were suggested, although we were free to choose any dealers as long as the price was consistent with the contract. (Appliances were outside of the contract, but we did use the suggested dealer.) Overall, we found that the suggested dealers were usually the ones that we went with. The project was estimated to be finished in five to six weeks. During the course of the project, we found that the contractor was making sure that everything was right on a daily basis. We spoke with him at least every two to three days, usually more often. All subcontractors were excellent. We were especially pleased with their punctuality, friendliness and cleanliness. Since we were relegated to a makeshift kitchen in the basement, we were very happy that the project was actually completed in a little over four weeks. All in all, we were more than satisfied with the project and the way it was carried out. The kitchen and family room are beautiful beyond our expectations. My wife is thrilled with the layout and convenience, and is especially happy with her new cooktop and double ovens. We would recommend Calyx Homes to anyone. As a matter of fact, we have since retained Bob to oversee a new roof for our home. We feel that the value we received is absolutely worth the price!

We had just finished having our kitchen and family rooms refurbished by Calyx Homes when it became apparent that we needed a new roof. At almost 28 years, our previous roof had not given us any problems, but we knew it was just a matter of time. Since we were so satisfied with Calyx in their remodeling work, we asked for an estimate for the roof. The price was one that we considered fair and we knew the quality of the subcontractors that Bob Brierly uses, so we had this work done as well. As part of the project, we also had some work done on one window and some other wood work performed. All the work was done well and on time. The workmen who did the actual work were excellent. We were extremely satisfied with the results of this project.

We had a very positive experience generally. They made a real effort to keep things on schedule and to accommodate what we wanted. The head guy, Bob Brierley, was very pleasant and helpful. We didn't have any particular problems. There was one slight delay, but I thought he did his best to try to account for that. We were satisfied with their work overall. I would recommend them.

They were very professional. They came on time. I am still looking at other vendors.

We did have some issues with some things. The painting in the bathroom is peeling and it hasn't even been a year. That wasn't very satisfactory. The new bathtub, toilet, tile floor, and sink were well done. There were just issues with the plastering which we asked to have redone because that was not done real well and the painting. It was mainly the surface of the walls. The work was done in a timely fashion.

He is totally reputable. People showed up on time. He listened to what I wanted. He is probably more expensive then some other builders but by the same token I feel like I get what I pay for. He's honest, he sends honest work people. They show up, clean after themselves. Work is done in a timely manner.

I was actually quite impressed with the owner, Bob. He showed us some of his work. He seemed to be professional and detailed. We didn't end up going with him, because we got a more affordable offer.

They were very good but they were too expensive. The price was very high. I'm sure they would have done an excellent job. I would definitely call them for other work.

From their timely response to our initial inquiry to the final day on what turned out to be a complicated job, Calyx was responsible and responsive throughout. We are now talking to them about reinforcing the overall insulation of our house.

I was prepared for surprises, given that ours is an older house (about 100 years old). But everything went off without a hitch. Bob (the owner) was attentive to any suggestions we had as the project came to a close.

The house was in decent shape, but hadn't been renovated since the 1980's. I was in Boston, and the house is in southeastern Mass, so I needed to work with a contractor who was completely trustworthy and reliable. Bob was a wonderful partner in this project- he advised me every step of the way. The gut, rehab and installation went exactly as he said, on schedule and on budget. We were juggling deliveries and selection of materals- he kept in constant touch to let me know where things stood as the project progressed. The quality of the finished work is excellent- the kitchen and bathrooms are flawless. The floors are amazing- glossy and beautiful. The renovation was a complete success in every way. Bob helped with many other issues in the house which was much appreciated. I look forward to working with Bob on my next project, and I recommend him to anyone- they will be very happy with the results!
