We also had an issue with our line from the house to the pole and they advised who we needed to call (national grid) to get that fixed. We are very pleased with their work and plan on using them again.

I called on Wednesday 2/19/14 hoping I could get someone to look at it on Thursday the 20th. I had already taken the day off from work. I spoke to Gary explaining my problem, and he said he would try to fit me in on Thursday, but he could come on Friday for sure. I had to work on Friday so we left it that he would call Thursday afternoon letting me know if he could make it either way. Thursday at 8am Gary called and let me know he could come right over. Once he arrived, he took a look, explained my options, I chose to have the fuse box removed. Thirty minutes later everything was done. My dryer worked once again. I wrote a check everyone was happy.
Description of Work: Gary removed an unnecessary and faulty fuse box between my dryer and the circuit breaker. He also added a new junction box, and cleaned up those wires.

...continued. Gary replaced the meter box, and again, we still had flickering lights. Now, even more, he was sure that the problem was at the pole and tried to help us get some response at the electric company. Finally the electric company came out and I pleaded with the lineman to go up and check the connection, telling him that it's the only thing that hadn't been checked. He complied and wasn't up there thirty seconds when he shouted "I've found your problem". Gary was right! Even with a very full plate, Gary was able to address my concern and shuffle his schedule. Something that most people wouldn't do. Now my wife and I are no longer concerned about an electrical fire or damages to our appliances and t.v.
Description of Work: My wife and I contacted Gary when we had flickering lights. He came and looked at our electrical panel and noticed corrosion. He suggested replacing the entire panel and the line coming in from the meter box. He didn't feel that the meter box was in bad shape, so in trying to save us some money, he didn't replace it. After the panel had been replaced, we still had the flickering lights. Gary told us to call the electric company to have them check the line coming in from the street, that based on the symptoms, the problem must be a connection at the pole. The electric company came out, checked the meter and put a device on it to measure our service. The lineman told me that there was no problem from the meter to the pole. He told me to replace the meter box, that the posts that the meter sits on were loose. He never went up on the pole. continue...

Gary answered my call on the second ring and said he could be at our home within an hour. He arrived in about 40 minutes. He charges by the job and does not add a surcharge just because it is a weekend emergency. Gary had to troubleshoot the problem and it took some time to determine that workers who had been re-shingling our home the day before had nailed through the wire to the recessed lighting in our living room. The work took about three hours and he had to call another worker to bring him some supplies. We were thrilled with his professionalism and knowledge. We have found our new electrician of choice from now on! Thank you, Angies List!
Description of Work: We called Gary on a Saturday because we lost electricity on the second floor of our home. We thought it was a defective circuit breaker but my husband replaced it and that did not correct the problem. We knew we were in trouble and needed professional help. We called a couple of electricians that we knew of but were told they could not see us until Monday at the earliest unless we wanted to pay premium emergency rates.

I experienced problems with lights flickering Saturday night. On Sunday, my refrigerator was off and several other appliances. I found Mallozzi in the phone book and called as the ad stated they would respond on Sunday. I left a message Sunday morning, and he called back quickly and came to see me at home that afternoon. He diagnosed the problem and said water had gotten into the circuit breaker box and the wiring on the outside of the house had deteriorated and needed to be replaced. It was a serious problem and needed to be corrected. He said he would be there on Monday morning to do the work and gave me a price of $1900.00. He was at my home on Monday morning with the equipment needed, and the work was done that day; I had to pay him with a credit card, and he charged ne an additional 2 1/2% for the card. But he did an excellent job and was very responsive and punctual.

I called at 7am and the phone was answered after just two rings, the gentleman who answered was polite and when I told him it was an emergency he said someone would be there within the hour. Gary called within 15 mins of coming to my door. He was polite, professional and solved the problem within an hour. The price for service was very reasonable and he honored the angie's coupon and part of a senior discount. I am definitely calling him again for some cosmetic work I need to be done. Thank goodness we found an excellent professional. Thanks Angie. Will be calling, Gary

I called for assistance with an electrical problem with my kitchen. The owner answered the phone promptly, was very nice, and tried to help me out via phone. I couldn't solve the issue so he scheduled to come out the next day and was great in working with my schedule. Later this evening I tried our fuse box again and fixed the problem. When I called back the owner was really nice about it. Even though we didn't end up having any service, I would definitely call again if we have a problem or need electrical work done!

Gary showed up at around 6:00 PM and finished in a tad under 2 hours. Very professional, excellent work, and very courteous. During an early heat wave, we bought new air conditioners to replace very old, in-wall AC's. Thought we had the right sockets for the new AC's, but found that current sockets were (1) too big and (1) too small and we could not install the AC's. In the heat, we were deparate to get the sockets fixed so we could move ahead with project. Called Mallozzi Electric and spoke to Gary Mallozzi first thing in the morning and hearing our dilemma, was able to squeeze us into his schedule. Gary was very professional and addressed all of our issues. We were very pleased with the work Gary did and will use him again for any electrical needs that arise.

Mallozzi Electric took care of a lot of things that had needed fixing for quite some time. I am not writing this review to "bash" electricians who left a renovation project without taking care of all the details, but honestly, the tub hadn't worked since the original installation and because of on-going work, by the time I realized it, the electrical contractor was no longer on site. Unfortunately there were some billing issues, which were ultimately resolved, but I was not about to call him and ask him to come back and fix the tub. Another electrician tried to be helpful for the one visit he was here, but I could not get him to come back. Let's just say, I haven't had the best of luck with electricians in the past, so I was very pleased to meet Gary and Rico. They showed up promptly, after calling ahead to let me know they were on their way. They had a "can do" attitude - were polite and very helpful. They efficiently took care of everything on my list that they possibly could (under deck lights are problematic and more information will have to be gathered from Lutron before they can add a fixture to a setting.) To me the price of all these fixes was reasonable, considering that the whirlpool tub has not worked in 3 years, and I now have a working doorbell, can use the exterior outlet at the back of the house again, and, if we decide to "rework" the lights under the deck, I feel that Mallozzi Electric will be there for us.
Description of Work: Two technicians performed a multitude of electrical tasks that had been accumulating for some time. Work included: replacing faulty GFI in a whirlpool tub that required removing an access panel. The outlet was tucked into a very hard to reach place beneath the tub deck. First, they had to locate the correct circuit breaker for the tub, which was not labeled on the panel by the electrician who originally did the work. (not Mallozzi Electric.) The technician relocated the outlet to a less awkward location, still behind the panel, but easier to access in the future. They relamped a bulb on a track light in a difficult to reach location (high on a wall above kitchen island) . They also replaced an exterior outlet that was no longer working, replaced the chime of our doorbell (provided by owner), reattached some rope lighting under a vanity that was hanging down by the floor, and therefore visible. They did some troubleshooting of some lights under our deck that had collected water during the winter. My husband had taken the lights down. We were hoping there was some way that Mallozzi Electric could make them "water proof." Unfortunately, the way the lights were installed by the original electrician, it would be a difficult and expensive fix at this point, so we will remove the globes in the winter, to avoid the problems caused by melting snow on the deck. Mallozzi Electric is going to help us reprogram some exterior lights to include an important light that was overlooked. We were not left any information on the system by the electrical contractor during our recent renovation, so this required Mallozzi to remove a panel to find the model number. More research is necessary before they can do the work - am not such a big fan of "lighting systems" at the moment, since we are now dependent on others for "programming" - but I feel confident that Mallozzi Electric will help us resolve the issue so the setting includes the exterior lights we want it to include.

Gary the senior was the person that I contacted and he was very pleasant to talk to. His sons came to installed the unit. I was surprised that I reached someone on a Saturday and they came out the same day. But $203 to replace a light switch? That's excessive for a 5 minute job. Every one I mentioned it to agrees. It's the most I've ever been charged for such a simple repair. On the good side, they came out the same day and Gary was personable and professional.

Thank you member for your review. We try to provide the best possible price to our customers in a economy that strains small businesses with high operating costs. We know and believe our prices our lower than a majority of our competitiors. We also are well aware we are not the cheapest electrician, but the saying goes you get what you pay for and as you noted we provided same day service over the weekend. You also commended our technician on him being personable and professional. Which we appreciatte. Unlike some other contractors we troubleshoot our customer's problems in a prompt manner as we know how valuable our customer's time is. Please also note that there is time invested in your job in driving there that can go unnoticed. We pride our selfs on the service we provide and hope you give us another chance in the future. Best of luck!

Well, these guys were friendly and they did a really great job. We did have to wait for them though and persist a bit. I tended to call near holidays when they were overwhelmed to begin with, and twice, they said they would call me that week and fit me in, but did not. I kept trying because the man sounded thoughtful over the phone. Finally, his sons appeared on a holiday and did a fantastic job. We did pay for the service though. Not sure if it was a holiday price or just the going rate. However, we were thankful to get it done finally. Because it was a holiday, one of the supply places was closed. For them to come back with the part, of course there is a high return fee. So the lesson is, don't call them on a holiday if you can help it. They were straight forward and thorough. I would have given more points but having to call them three times is probably not up everyone's ally. Still, I would call them again.
Description of Work: They repaired a lot of broken and not fully functioning areas in our home that we could live with but they certainly improved upon- like lights and fixtures and switches. They could not repair the light on the range for the hood but said we needed a specialist for that.
