JJJ Painting & Construction

Everyone we dealt with was very nice. The painters arrived on time and were hard workers. The quote was to power wash, prime (with a heavy duty Mad Dog primer) and apply two coats of paint, however, I believe only one coat of paint was applied. I brought this up with the owner and the workers insist they put on two coats of paint, but some of the original paint showed through in spots. This means they would have had to miss the same spots each time they applied a coat of paint. The trim and siding they replaced was done well. This work was done in September of 2015 and I was assured the paint would last at least a few years. They told me the Mad Dog primer would take care of any problem areas. Unfortunately, the paint is already peeling in some areas. I sent multiple emails to the company over the past two weeks and left a voice mail. I have yet to be contacted by anyone. This is very disappointing.

The 1st appointment got canceled and rescheduled. However Waited for 2 hours. No show and no call. Called and emailed via Angie's list site. No response. Glad I did not hire them. imagine that it happens in the middle of project.

There was more construction work that needed to be done before painting than originally thought. The contractor worked his way around the house making the necessary repairs, starting in the front and ending in the back yard. This way the painters could start on the front of the house. All construction work was top-notch and definitelyy should have been done years ago. The extent of the repairs was a little more than what was included in the original estimate, and resulted in a $400 up-charge, but once we saw the finished product, it was well worth the extra money. There is something to be said for peace of mind. The house has never looked this good.

Mr. Cardilli subcontracts his work out and oversaw the construction. He helped us figure out what to present to the insurance company so that the majority of the work done was eventually covered by our home owner's policy. He was in constant contact throughout the project. He helped us develop a plan that allowed us to remain in the house during construction except for the floor refinishing. This was an important factor for us. He remained in constant contact with us about the process, what we needed to do and by when. He checked in on the job daily either by phone or site. The construction crew he hired was excellent. They were very thorough in their daily clean up of the house including little conveniences like plugging in alarm clocks and setting them to setting up our beds in other rooms during construction. The painting crew was good, but work needed to be checked for thorough paint coverage. We found paint on bed spreads, curtains, and floor. They did not clean up as well as the carpenters. The flooring crew completed their job within the given time frame and the work was excellent. All work was completed within the expected time line. This was the first time we have ever hired a contractor to do work for us. I will add a couple of things we learned in the process. If you want / need an itemized list of all work and materials used, put that expectation in the contract. Additionally request that any work beyond the agreed upon work is approved (cost) prior to starting the needed work. When the additional work is done, check the work and time required for labor to be sure it is accurate. Overall this experience was a good one. The subcontractors were polite and pleasant to our family. Mr. Cardilli was attentive and responsive to all our emails and calls.

I had several contractors come by to give an estimate on the work. One never showed up, one came by several times with different subcontractors but never gave me an estimate, one gave an estimate leaving off a couple of things, and the price was outrageous. Jason came by, took notes, sent me an estimate within a week, which was detailed and accurate. I agreed to the contract, and though it took a while for him to get started, when he did, the work moved along quickly. Everyone who came to the job was efficient, respectful, punctual. The project came out great! I've had so many compliments from my neighbors. I asked Jason to give me an estimate on some interior painting, because I trust him, his work and his team. I will definitely be hiring JJJ again and would be comfortable recommending him to friends.

Jay was great and very communicative through all stages of service. Services had to be rescheduled a few times due to weather issues, but Jay was always up front about this, and let me know with advanced notice that we needed to be rescheduled. The day of service was very easy, the workers were fast, professional, and unobtrusive. And the final product was beautiful. My decks look great and I would use this business again in the future.

Was looking at buying a foreclosure and was in need of a contractor to do a work for a 203k loan. I told the woman in the office on the phone this, but seemingly the message was not relayed. Contractor showed up and was surprised by the amount of work the house need. I also needed an estimate in 2 days. He showed up, looked around, and then I never heard from him. Never got a quote.

Promptly came to the house to work up a quote. Downhill from there. We were told they were busy with prior jobs, but 3 months later and still no painting. The main frustration was lack of communication. Repeatedly tried to contact to find out what was going on with no response. Or if they did response it took over a week. Extremely frustrating! In the end, we got tired of chasing them for a reply. They did not perform the work for us.

Upon calling Jay for an estimate - he came out promptly to look at the job in hand. He supplied a detailed estimate within a couple of days and we agreed upon this. His crew began working within a couple of weeks of original suggested date due to bad weather they could not start earlier. Once here, they were very hardworking, thorough and professional. All of his crew were excellent painters and took their time to make it look really nice. They cleaned up each day after they left and were respectful of the property. I would definitely recommend them to any of my friends and neighbors. I will be using this company in the future to update our bathroom and replace handrails in the hallway. Bethany, Jay's wife deals with the administration/financial side and is a delightful lady. This is a great company that believe in good workmanship.

I really wanted to like this company. I liked the owners; I liked that they were local, and I liked that they were a small, family-owned company. I did not like that the owners left for vacation the week that the majority of the work was to be done. I did not like that many of the wooden shingles were sanded, resulting in what looks like a poor paint job in many spots. I did not like that no one called to tell me about an upstairs windowsill that fell apart during prep. I had to call to ask about that, which prompted the employee (who admitted that he had considered the job done) to call the owner. I do like that the sill was repaired shortly thereafter--in fact, I like the carpentry work in general. I like that some of the shingles were replaced so that the paint job that I see every time I enter the house looks better. I don't like that many other parts of the house don't look so good. I also really, really, really don't like that the owners never showed up to look over the job with me. An appointment for such was scheduled, but no one showed. The checks I wrote were promptly cashed, though. I wish I had hung on to the last one until someone came to assess the job, but, alas, I did not. Bottom line: I will not use this company again, nor will I recommend them to others. (And I really wanted to be able to do that!)

I had a similar experience as last reviewer. About 4 weeks ago I contacted JJJ requesting a quote to prep and paint the exterior of my mom's home. Three days later I was contacted and was told they would head over to house at noon of that Friday to look things over and I would receive a quote for work the following week. The following week I heard nothing so called and left voice mail inquiring on the status. Left a few more messages on the following weeks also with no return phone call. I have no idea if JJJ even stopped by to look over the house so I'm glad I didn't take time out of work. I know this is the busy season but think it's a shame a simple 1 minute return phone call can't be made, especially since this company had an A+ rating and is why I contacted them in the first place. I since have hired another company rated A+ on Angies List for the work. They contacted me within 2 hours of my initial inquiry, came out the next evening to look things over and received a detailed quote 2 days after that. That's the response I would expect from a highly rated company.

provider was difficult to contact. he came to the house, took a list of work but never called with an estimatem mor did he return my calls . Do not waste you time with him.

The whole process went extremely well. Both Jay's, as well as their crew, were extremely friendly. I felt well informed of the process from the day they come to assess the job to the day the last brush stroke was made. Even when I had questions during the process, they were timely on getting back to me. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

The outcome is beautiful. The project was completed ahead of schedule and very well priced. They were very clean and considerate.

It went well, the whole process was completed on a timely basis. They kept us informed of what they were doing, the days they would be working, and when it would be completed. We were very satisfied with the whole process.

Went well. Slight shortage of help on a couple of days, but more than made for it to completion. Would use them again.

JJJ and there guys were amazing! From my first call to set up an appointment for an estimate through the very last touch up they were helpful, courteous, insightful, and professional. They treated me like family! We started off with a dismal, dark paneled, living room and a dilapidated sun porch that they redesigned into an absolutely gorgeous new bedroom suite! It was a pretty extensive project that included removing a set of sliding glass doors as well as quite a few windows before installing a new header beam. They also installed a beautiful new hardwood floor, new windows, and doors! Then they were so helpful when it came to choosing colors and the finished paint job was incredible. I can't wait to have them remodel my antiquated avocado green bathroom in Spring 2015!

Jason was great! I decided at the last minute to paint the exterior of my home in late fall in preperation to put it on the market in the spring. Jason got right back to me, offered one of the lowest prices and was able to start the day after we signed the contract. I was able to reach him via email and cell anytime and the work was superb. The original quote was 4900 but then we had some rotted shingles he replaced for 400. My husband, who is very picky, was very happy with the results. I now need some interior construction work and am having him come again to look. will be my first call from now on!!

Overall, they did a wonderful job. The only thing that I wish was a little better was the trim around the front door. Never got to sand and finish off the trim around the front door. Other than that, they were always on time. They made suggestions for the stain on the side and back shingles and it came out beautiful. They were extremely pleasant and very neat. They did a wonderful job sanding and prepping the house for the paint, so a year later, it has held up very well, even with all the sun we get on the front of the house. I would absolutely use them again and I would definitely recommend them to others.

The owner of the company appeared quickly to inspect the job and make suggestions. I gave him my e-mail address to send me an estimate, telling him I was gathering bids for the job. A week passed then I called him leaving a voice mail stating it was 2 weeks since the damage in my home and a week since I saw him. He returned the call a few days later and spoke in an angry tone, stating it hadn't been 2 weeks since he'd been to my home. I corrected him saying I hadn't said that. He again said he would e-mail me an estimate and I repeated my address. I never heard from him again. I satisfactorily engaged someone obtained through the Yellow Pages.

Weather caused delay. Some disagreement in terms of contract. My intent was for all exterior painted surfaces to be repainted. Contract said "trim". We worked out the issue with some increase to cover some older windows. Lesson learned, make sure contract matches your intentions.

I was pleased with the overall work product. The prices were reasonable. Bethany was responsive. It was a little tough to get a hold of them in the beginning, but that sorted itself out. I would and have recommended them to others.

When I first contacted the seller, I had to leave several voice mail messages before getting a response a few weeks after the first call. They explained that there were some health issues in the family and they had fallen behind with scheduling. This was approximately 2-3 months after the Big Deal had been purchased in Febuary 2013. At the time of the call we discussed that I wanted to have the painting done within the following 3 months, since I was hosting a wedding in my home in August. August was also the coupon's expiration date. An appointment was made for the following week, so the owner could get an idea of what the job entailed. The appointment took place, as scheduled, and I was told that I could expect the painters to come some time within the next 2 weeks (with notice being given the day before). 2 weeks went by without any communication. I called and left a message on JJJ's voicemail and did, in fact, get a return call within a couple of days. However, at this time, my father went into the hospital and I did not call back for several weeks. A couple of messages were exchanged--without direct contact being made--some time around early September. About 2 weeks later, I left another voicemail explaining that I had already done the painting and wanted to discuss options, including the possibility of a refund for the services. Although my message was polite and non-confrontational, I never heard back from JJJ again.

As with any exterior work, weather caused a few delays. When we had a firm start date, they arrived on time and were very professional and respectful. They explained the planned schedule of what they would be doing when, and hey followed it. At times I can be a tough customer due to my expectations of quality. I am willing to pay to get it. I had them do some extra sanding and filling in some dimples and gouges to get a better final appearance to the house. I have to say that they met every expectation I had and even exceeded a few.. I had told them that they should replace any rotted wood they find, but they still wanted to get my OK each time they found more rot. I appreciated this as there was a substantial amount of rot on the fascia boards behind the gutters and some on the trim. I was aware of about 50% of what they found. The job they did replacing the wood was exceptional and they did it all within the planned schedule. They were also very accommodating to our schedule to have them not be working on the bedroom sides of the house prior to 9:00am. They would work on other parts of the house prior to 9:00 and the bedroom portion after that. I can not say enough positive about them and their work. Very professional, considerate, excellent communication, and quality work. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.
