Harrop & Son Remodeling

This was a huge job - the basement is 1400 sq ft and needed a complete rip (it was an old doctorâ s office), new plans were drawn up and they handled everything from start to finish. The work was excellent and they kept to schedule. Really happy with the outcome of the project and would definitely recommend.

I spoke with them about the project, they requested pictures and a detailed explanation about it (which I provided) and they promised to be able to complete it promptly. When I checked in with them the day before they promised to arrive they stopped responding and disappeared completely

Throughout the years I have used many contractors for home improvement projects and Tom was by far the best. Totally satisfied with the work and he went above expectations.

Tom worked with us to ensure our needs were met in the design and throughout the construction project and we are pleased with the end result but the communication throughout the process was challenging. We had to initiate all communication and he did not keep us in the loop frequently enough. Still has not come back to fix two defective wood rails after completing the project over 8 months ago. Very frustrating experience.

Harrop & Son Remodeling is by far the best construction company I have had the pleasure of hiring. We were hiring for a complete basement remodel and the owner, Tom, called immediately after submitting our inquiry to Home Advisor. Harrop & Son was 1 of 3 companies to give us a quote and they landed well ahead of the competition. Tom was professional, very detailed in his quote, and was extremely knowledgeable about his craft. Honesty was a big reason I hired Harrop & Son. While the competition was ridiculously over pricing the job and looking to take advantage, Tom came in and provided me with an honest quote that was half the price of the competition but afforded double the square footage and a full bathroom, which had been out of the question for the other companies. It was clear that Tom really cared about getting you excellent value for your money. They started right on time and they blew me away with how professional and courteous they were from day 1. They made excellent use of their time and I never saw any of the crew not working. The Foreman, Rick, was excellent and I had complete confidence that when Tom was off site, Rick had everything under control. From the owner down to the sub contractors, everyone was extremely professional and did excellent work. The work completed by Harrop & Son is beyond exceptional. They truly are masters of their craft. They were very detailed in their work and anything they touched had maximum effort put into it. Very little changes were made throughout the process, but for the ones that were, Tom was extremely welcoming and was always 1 step ahead. The whole remodel was kept within the quoted price and the work completed far exceeded my expectations. We couldn't be happier with Tom, his crew, and the remodel they completed for us. I would not hesitate to recommend Harrop & Son Remodeling to anyone I come across looking for home renovations. We have a few other home renovations planned for the near future and I will not hesitate to contact Tom to have them back.

Tom called within a few hours of us signing up for this site. He was here the next day to give a quote. Due to the uniqueness of our request for door placements and sizes, the job took longer than planned, so he came back another day to finish. Very satisfied with his work, and our son is now safe and doesn't have access to areas of the house which were previously unsafe for him. Kitchen/bath remodels are next and we will, without hesitation, call Harrop & Son.

I am in the military and have moved over a dozen times in my 20 years of service. As such, I am used to moving into new homes at new duty stations and am often looking to do some fixing up after arriving. It was no different when I arrived in Rhode Island. We hired Tom Harrop of Harrop and Son for our basement and double bathroom remodel. He was the first contractor to respond to the request for an estimate and called several times as I interviewed other companies. He was patient and waited for me to complete the interview process. In the end I chose him not just for his price point, but he was genuinely excited about helping me out and seemed very much in sync with our ideas. We ended up hiring Tom, Mike, Mark, and the rest of his crew and couldn't be any happier. Tom gave us the exact basement we pictured but also added countless little finishing touches that made the 5 weeks he spent in our home actually enjoyable. He is very trustworthy, easy to talk to, and works with you throughout the entire process. The initial contract was to finish a basement, first floor bathroom remodel, and paint out the first floor and stairwell. Tom took it upon himself to also install some extra much needed storage, including custom shelving, and countless other touches. As he neared completion, we extended his contract to a complete demo/remodel of the upstairs second bath. After he was done with it, I think it might be nicer than the master! Bottom line, you won't do any better than Harrop and Son. His price was more than fair, stayed exactly on budget, was easy to work with and end result was magnificent. I will definitely be using him again. He has earned my 5 star recommendation!!

Tom was excellent from the beginning. He promptly returned my phone call and set up a date and time to come over to assess what we needed done (replace aged French Doors with a slider). He explained what he would have to do and provided a very reasonable quote. Tom is a great professional, very reliable and knowledgeable. When he and his crew came to do the job they were respectful of our house, of us, and completed the job with precision and care! Our new sliding door looks great and we get compliments on it all the time! We will definitely be hiring Harrop and Son for additional projects around the house.

Tom was prompt in answering my call. We agreed on a time to do the work and he came when he said he would. Tom is professional and has lots of experience. He repaired a non-working electrical plug, put a heavy mirrored closet door back on the track, and installed grab bars in our shower. It is clear he has lots of experience. He has been doing this all his life, as his father also had a construction business. The cost for these projects was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Tom Harrop.

Tom is a very reliable and knowledgeable. He came to my house 15 minutes after calling him to help me when a pipe burst in my home. He was able to reinstall insulation, drywall, doors, lights, etc... so my home was looking better than it did before the incident. It was great to hire one person to take care of everything and not have to worry about coordinating with different contractors.

I originally was hiring Harrop and Son for framing work but learned that he did other home improvements so also hire him to complete vinyl siding including trim work on a very old home that I recently purchased. Tom and his crew's work was so good that I hire him to remodel the kitchen, again his work was very good. He completed other work, baseboard, installing doors and windows, repairing the roof, installing sheetrock. All work was completed in a timely manner and very professional at a fair price. I will be calling Tom for future projects.

They were the best contractor I have ever had. The price was good, the deck was beautiful, and it was great! I didn't have to wait, they came over right when I called. They were very nice and just so pleasant.

They did very well. The work was clean and neat. They were reliable and personable. The quote was pretty much on point to what was quoted. They were nice and I would highly recommend them.
