Astro New England was awful The movers that came to our home were very good expect that we had one drifter walk off the job and were left with a move that went into the late hours because of this understaffing. The biggest problem was the quoting to get the business. What they did was basically your typical bait and switch approach. They quoted us several times around $6500 to get the business which ended up being over $13,000 dollars when the actual move took place. The company and owners took no responsibility for anything and just walked away from any responsibility.
Description of Work: This company is your typical bait and switch. They quoted us $6500 dollars and it end up at over $13,000. We had three visits from their rep. to insure accuracy but when the drive pulled in the driveway He just said " This move is grossly underestimated. Astro took no responsibility for anything. They just basically said to bad.

Member, Attached are a copy of the weight tickets the driver faxed over to us after loading your shipment. If you cannot read them the driver can furnish you a copy of the originals at delivery. I have reviewed the both the Florida shipment & the Texas shipment with Curt. We have combed through the estimates & the actual inventories on both shipments. I asked Curt why these shipments were not booked as binding estimates, as 95% of Astro registered shipments are Binding. Curt informed me that from the 1st survey on February 12th you informed him that there were going to be changes & Curt informed you that that was fine & this would be a no-binding estimate based on actual weight & services. On February 12 Curt furnished you 2 estimates, both for p/u to Astro storage & separate Interstate shipments. 1) RI to FL @ 11,875 lbs. $6,629.10 2) RI to Victor, ID @ 4,536 lbs. $3,771.95 After reviewing those quotes, changes were made & the ID shipment was not moving. On April 9th Curt returned & provide you with an estimate for 2 shipments, along with new itemized cube sheets (room by room) based on your description of furniture & contents for separate moves: 1) RI to TX @ 8,200 lbs. (Packing & additional services) $ 6,498.56 2) RI to FL @ 1,600 lbs. $ 2,016.50 Original cube sheet (13 items) Actual items moved 30 At all times Curt has informed you that these are non-binding estimates & the final charges were based on actual weight & services. Curt again came out to the house May 6th & reviewed the packing at your request. At that time he was informed that you were going to handle as much packing as possible but if needed you would call Astro to update us as needed for assistance. On the May 6th walk-thru Curt said he viewed 86 cartons packed by you & was informed that only the kitchen & the Astro fragile packing was left to do. Somewhere between May 6th & loading on May 10th the cartons (contents) changed drastically. From the original cube sheet (157 items including 63 PBO cartons) were to be moved to TX. The actual inventory of items loaded ( 453 items including 268 PBO cartons) were loaded onto the truck. There was an increase of 265 cartons packed by owner, added to the original cube sheet & estimate. That is an incredible amount to not account for unless Curt was miss informed or drastic changes were made at the last minute. I do not know what was actually said between Curt & yourself, or shown to him, but I can tell you that Curt’s job is to provide all customers with a room by room list of all items & contents to be moved. That list is to reviewed by all parties & acknowledged under agreement as how to proceed forward. The TX shipment increased by 296 items (give or take from inventory) & the FL shipment also more than doubled in item count by 17 items. I truly feel that if at any time Curt was positive or knew exactly what was to be relocated he would have furnished you with a Binding Estimate. You can request a reweight of the shipment to verify the actual weight but the final charges of $13,011.61 must be paid in Certified Check prior to delivery. I truly don’t know where or how a shipment can be off by over 290 pieces & 7,760 lbs. unless there is total misunderstanding by all. Chuck Lamendola President. Astro of New England

We couldn't have been happier with the whole experience! Kurt met me at the house and made very quick work of quoting the job and he got the quote to me within one day. Astro was also able to accommodate our requested move date on fairly short notice. We received a call the day before as well as the morning of the move to see if we needed any additional services and to let us know the crew were on their way. The crew arrived at 8:30 am sharp and made quick work of a walk through before starting the move. The crew of three, Tim, Tom and Travis were very friendly and had the house completely loaded into the truck in two hours!! Not a mark on any walls or furniture. Unloading in Providence went just as smoothly and the guys had our house set up including assembling beds by 2:30 pm the same day. We were hanging art on the walls by dinner time! Astro requests that you have a certified check for the estimated quote amount on moving day. The icing on the cake was that, because we had prepared by making sure everything was ready to move, our move came in under the estimate and we will be receiving a refund for the difference! Dealing with contractors can be a constant battle and moving can be very stressful so it's great to be reminded every once in a while that some things can go right from start to finish!
Description of Work: Although we moved from CT to RI, our move was considered local being only 45 miles. We packed and moved the small items ourselves such as clothes, kitchen items, books and tools. I also disassembled two pieces of exercise equipment prior to moving day. The moving crew disassembled beds, packed and loaded all the furniture from three bedrooms, living room, dining room, sun room as well as large items form the basement and garage.

Buyer beware! We were in search of a full-service moving company to help us move from our 3rd floor walk-up apartment into our new home. Astro of New England provided a competitive quote and offered all the services we were looking for - packing some boxes, moving some of our self-packed boxes, and moving large pieces of furniture. The movers arrived on-time and with enough people to get the job done. However, they were not very well prepared - ran out of tape and wardrobe boxes halfway through the move and took 30 minutes of idle time to get more supplies. The movers were courteous and able to move the furniture safely out of our 3rd floor apartment. But, when it came to cramming everything in the truck, we later found fragile fixtures, decorations, and furniture pieces they had packed to be broken or damaged. The movers were also absolutely wreckless with our boxes - we have over 10 boxes that were crushed or torn with damaged goods inside. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt since we packed some of our own boxes. But, even the boxes they had packed had box damage and broken items inside. The net result = over $500 of broken Corningware, glasses, decorations, and even liquor bottles. That doesn't include the damage to the furniture pieces. We reviewed the work the movers had done before they left, not having seen all of the damage done to the mountain of boxes in our house. Overall, everything seemed fine at first glance. Then we noticed that some of the furniture had not been reassembled properly by the movers. A dresser mirror came crashing down later that night. And, we found a desk to be held up not by the misassembled legs, but by the wall it was leaning against. You'd think that after all of this Astro would be trying to solve the problem and help us replace some of our goods. But, unfortunately that was not the case. Their general manager was kind and offered some compensation for the glasses we found broken at first. But, after we began finding other issues as we sorted through boxes, I was forwarded to their Chief Deflection Officer, who specializes in casting blame on the customer. We heard everything from "the boxes you packed were not the right grade" to "you packed the boxes without enough paper" to "you packed the boxes with too much paper". He had an excuse for everything, and never owned up to the damage done to our furniture, the Astro-packed boxes, or even the idle time the movers took while waiting for supplies. The only thing he owned up to was breaking one of our dining room decorations (worth $400), to which he offered us the standard insurance compensation of $0.60/pound - or ~$6. Awesome. To sum it all up, next time you need to move, if Astro of New England is the only option you have available, don't move. Or, do it yourself.

Astro provide (member name removed) a formal written quote on 6/5. The quote was based on a walk thru site survey with (member name removed) where he described all services he wanted Astro to provide. We created an itemized room by room description of all requested services as described to Lynne (the sales person) by (member name removed) & presented him the list along with the price quote & services requested. During the walk thru (member name removed) stressed he was going to pack all the kitchen, dining room items & contents. Astro was to pack limited clothing, last minute closet items, mattresses & 2 mirrors. (member name removed) was to take care of all glass & breakables! Our estimate included the requested packing of 10 ft. of closet pole (5 wardrobe cartons) 5 miscellaneous small (1.5 cartons – small, heavy non-fragile items) & 5 medium (3.1 cartons – shoes clothing soft items) & 5 (4.5 cartons- larger closet soft items) cartons for last minute soft items from closets. On the day of the move, Astro packed (5) 1.5 cartons (books, small heavy non-fragile items) & (4) medium cartons (soft closet clothing-shoes). All fragile items packed by (members names removed) were put into the wrong size cartons. All breakable glassware, kitchen items need to be properly wrapped in paper, packed into fragile cartons(i.e. DISH PACKS), with proper amounts of paper & bubble wrap to support each item. YOU CAN NOT LAY DISHES & GLASSWARE DOWN INTO CARTONS WITH NO OR LITTLE PAPER & EXPECT THE CONTENTS NOT TO BREAK. Astro at no time was reckless with any cartons or furniture. The boxes Astro packed (wardrobes @12 & 9 small medium cartons – soft items) had no damage. If Astro were to pack any breakable glassware or liquor, we would have use DISH PACKS not Lowe's cartons. As you can see by the pictures provided my (member name removed), the damaged items are not standard moving cartons used by Astro. We do not have handle holds on our Astro cartons & we DO NOT LAY GLASSWARE DOWN INTO CARTONS! Upon completion of the move, the Astro supervisor walked thru the residence, room by room, with (member name removed) & personally secured his mirror on the dresser. Upon completion of all moves our drivers walk thru the residence, rearrange any furniture & cartons, review all needed services as normal standard practice, WHICH WAS DONE WITH (members names removed). AT THIS TIME THERE WAS NO ACKNOWLEDGED CRUSHED CARTONS OR ADDITIONAL NEEDED SERVICES. Stating that there was a mountain of boxes is a complete misrepresentation. After speaking with the crew supervisor, Tim Powers, we were informed that the cartons were so poorly packed you could not stack more than 3 high without crushing them from lack of paper, improper packing & poor use of the wrong cartons for items & weight inside! I believe (member name removed) is referring to me, Chuck Lamendola the owner, as “Chief Deflection Officer”. As the owner of Astro, I never hide or deflect my responsibility & always own up to our mistakes. I spoke with the crew supervisor prior to my reaching out to (member name removed), as I always do on all Angie’s List moves. After speaking with the driver and crew, it was apparent (member name removed) was responsible for his own poor packing. He informed me that he had placed breakable dishes & items into the wrong size cartons, laid breakable plates, dishes & glasses down. ALL THESE ITEMS NEED TO BE PACKED ON EDGE, WRAPPED WITH PAPER & PLACED IN PROPER CARTONS (i.e. “DISH PACKS”). When you are moving items & you can hear glass & contents lose inside, it is readily apparent that no or very little paper was used! (member name removed) was offered additional insurance prior to any services being performed, but the full replacement insurance was DECLINED BY (member name removed). He signed for the free basic insurance on the day of the move. As you can see by the pictures of the cartons that were used for this move, these were NOT ASTRO CARTONS OR STANDARD MOVING INDUSTRY CARTONS, the items were just thrown into boxes with no regard for damage. (member name removed) also informed Astro that he purchased all of his moving boxes from Lowe’s. In closing, (member name removed), as well as all Astro customers are offered FREE used proper moving cartons & paper to pack any & all fragile items. These cartons are readily available on a 1st come basis & were available to (member name removed).

I was dissatisfied with them. I was very unhappy with their services. They were an hour late showing up. They called in and gave me a time. They were going to be here between 10 and 11. 11:15, they still weren’t here. I had to call them and ask where they were and as what was going on then the guy from the office called the driver and the driver called me back and said that he was going to be here by noon time and he was held up. That was fine and I understand people get held up but they should have called me to let me know they are running late. There was 2 guys that showed up and they kind of nickel-and-dimed me. I moved a house a couple of months ago. I had a bunch of stuff in my garage. So it was kind of piled in. A girl came in and took a look at it and gave me a rough estimate of the cost and she left. I had 2 or 3 items to the things and we have removed some things on the list. They came in and have a very specific list and if I added any items on the list and they gave me an attitude that they have a list and they were not supposed to move anything that’s not on the list and they have to call their boss. There were a couple of heavy things that I asked them in the house that they would just move from one side of the room to the other side of the room and they said they weren’t allowed to do that if they weren’t actually putting it on the truck. They were not happy with what they were doing. I really felt uncomfortable to ask them to do anything more than on their paper to touch. They were not very helpful at all. We had a bed frame delivered to our home and we wrapped it up to the house and all we needed them to move the boxes and the girl said that they would put together the bed for me and I thought that was great. When I told the guys to assemble the bed and they were looking at me like why I was asking them the extra work. I wasn’t really comfortable all and to the point where towards the end of the move, I wasn’t even going to ask them to pick up one item more than they absolutely had to pick up. They quoted me 5 hours time and they were done in 4 and a half hours time and they didn’t give me a refund or anything. They were not even willing to do extra. I had them move stuff from my house to another house that was about half another away and I was here for them to pack up and then I said I would meet them at the other house. I was there a good half hour before they showed up and then they just said the traffic was really bad but I just driven on the same road they drove on and there was no traffic.

We apologize for the movers being late to the job. The crew was tied up at the first job that ran over the estimated amount of time. Our dispatcher did call Courtney and let her know the drivers were going to be later than 11:00AM. Courtney must have called the office back after Mike called her about the delay. All of our estimates come with an inventory of what the customers asks us to move. Because the items were in the garage, the estimator (Lynne Lamendola) could not see everything clearly. The drivers are told to only move items that are on the list. When the drivers arrived onsite, they called the office and informed the Owner (Chuck) that Courtney French asked them to move a pool table. Astro does not move pool tables unless they have been professional crated by a 3rd party. If a pool table is moved without it being professional packed, the slates may break during transit. The Owner did not feel comfortable having 2 men (should be 3 men at least to move any pool table) move the pool table. If the customer had informed us of the pool table move prior to the actual move date, we could have quoted her a price AND brought proper equipment and man power to do the move. There were several items not on the original inventory list that Courtney asked our drivers to move (i.e. patio furniture, items in home) and our drivers did move them for her. The only thing not moved was the pool table. The customer never asked the drivers to move items from one side of the room to the other. The drivers did put the bed together for the customer. It was a brand new bed frame in a new package. The drivers did all work that she requested on the day of the move. The drivers did hit traffic going to destination. The drivers followed the GPS and the directions took them through neighborhood streets. School was getting out at around this time and there was traffic heading toward Lincoln. Our drivers did not follow Courtney to the home, so they didn't know about the alternate route that Courtney took to get to her home in Lincoln.

There was a little trouble with the third party vendor they contracted with for our washer and dryer - the guy from there was not able to put the moving bolts into the washer, and had to be told which was the washer and which was the dryer. My dad ended up doing it himself. However, Astro of New England was excellent, with excellent customer service. Elisa was our contac person. She stayed on top of our move, contacting us before, during, and after to make sure issues were dealt with. The washer was the only issue; everything else went smoothly. Bob and Nick were our moving crew. They were supposed to arrive on Thursday to start packing, and then move our stuff on a Friday. However, they loaded all of our stuff on the Thursday and moved it to Pennsylvania, and were unloading it on Friday on the day the original pickup was supposed to be. Bob and Nick were efficient, professional, curteous, and personable. We had moved some of our smaller items ourself. Our final cost of moving was lower than what the original estimate was. There were no hidden costs. All of our items were tagged, inventoried, and counted against the inventory when unloaded. Nothing was lost, stolen, or broken. Everything was well packed and organized. We would definitely use Astro of New England again for any move in the future. We highly recommend them, and give them 5 stars for the whole move.

Astro arrived a little late from the previous job that they were on. They had to return to that job which was in Providence. The 2 men said they would return in 1 hour & they were there 1 hour later. The 2 men, Brandon & Ricky, were very professional & efficient moving furniture. They moved a queen size bed that was on a wood platform & headboard, wood chest of drawers & 2 night stands. The mattress & box spring were packed in boxes to protect them while in storage & all the wood bedroom furniture was wrapped in moving cloths for storage. They also wrapped in moving cloths the balance of the wood furniture ( kitchen table & 4 chairs, coffeee table & end table, desk & chair). They wrapped the couch in shrink-wrap to protect it while in storage. We had them pack up 1 floor lamp that has a glass dome on it & 2 other lamps. The other items that were packed with care was a full length over the door mirror & a glass & metal TV stand. Astro estimated that it would take 3 - 5 hours to move the furniture from a 5th floor apartment, but they were finished in 3 hours in 90 degree weather. These 2 men were very efficient & fast while packing & moving. They did not take any breaks while moving the furniture. I joined Angie"s List to research furniture movers in the Providence, RI area. I hired them because of the reviews I read about them on Angie's List. I live in New York & was moving my college age son back home.

Astro Movers was very easy to deal with and did a great job. First, they responded quickly to my request for an estimate for a local move, and re-visited our house to revise the estimate at our request (we decided to move some things ourselves). The estimator was knowledgeable and professional. The estimate followed quickly and was very comprehensive. I was contacted several times by the company before the move, to confirm the arrangements, so I had no doubt at all that everything was set up properly. The movers themselves arrived just slightly early, which was fine, as I wanted to get going. They moved quickly, efficiently, took good care of my antiques, took good care of the house, and were extremely polite and professional. When we reached the new house, it was all the same in reverse - quick, efficient, professional, and they were very eager to please - no complaints or rolled eyes when I needed a piece of furniture moved. All in all, as good an experience as we could have had (let's face it, I hate moving) and I would hire them again.

Wonderful experience! Buying, selling, and moving - this part went the most smoothly of all. No glitches, no lost items, nothing broken, courteous, intelligent, and friendly workers. We cannot say enough good things about Astro of New England. If you need a mover, these are the people to hire.
Description of Work: This moving company is FANTASTIC and I would recommend them to anybody needing moving services. The Astro rep came in, we told him what would be going, he gave a guaranteed price and that was the price we paid with NO hassles. We did our own packing; they loaded and unloaded. The workers were courteous and friendly. We could not have asked for a better experience. HIRE THIS COMPANY! You will not regret it.

First I just want to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Chuck, Lynn and the staff at Astro for helping us out when no one else could, and doing an amazing job in the process! My husband and I were downsizing from a three bedroom house in Cranston and moving to a one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. We had gotten rid of a lot of our stuff especially furniture so I thought that with help from my mother and husband a hire a few guys to help load the truck we could do it ourselves. We had packed all the boxes and had a 5 x 10 storage unit as well. The closer that it got for the move we realized that we were in WAIAAY over our heads! There was no way we could load the truck and/or trucks since some stuff was going to Brooklyn and the rest was going to a storage unit in Upstate NY. So the week before our closing I frantically called four moving companies and the only one that got back to me was Astro. I spoke with Chuck the owner to see if it was even possible to get a mover on such short notice, AND have them pick stuff up from our house and storage unit AND drop things off in two separate locations (Brooklyn, Central New York). He said that he and his team could do it. Chuck was so helpful and so easy to deal with. His daughter Lynn came over the next day (Thursday) and made a list of what we had and I received the estimate by the next morning. We were expecting it to be 5000-8000 since it was short notice and having to make two stops for loading and delivering, but we were stuck we didn?t have any other option. The estimate was much less than what I had expected since we had packed everything AND they were able to do it the following Monday! It was amazing!!!! Chuck called to see if it would be ok if they picked up everything on Monday April 22 and delivered the items to Brooklyn on Tuesday the 23rd, but delivered the rest of the stuff going to Central New York at a later date since they had another job out that way. Chuck said that he would store the CNY stuff for free until they moved it. I told Chuck that would work out fine since it was all going into storage. Chuck and his team were so easy to work with and did exactly what they said they would do. My mother was at the house when the movers came said they were extremely professional, courteous and very hard workers. My husband who had already moved to Brooklyn was there to meet the movers the next day, He said they called 30 minutes before to let him know when they would be there (as requested) and they had everything unloaded in 1.5 hrs. He was very pleased with service and said the guys were great! Chuck called to make sure everything went well and said that the CNY delivery would be April 30. My mother was there to meet them, they were prompt, courteous and had the items moved to storage in no time. I would highly recommend Astro of New England to anyone. It was a wonderful and stress free experience. I cannot thank them enough!
Description of Work: Astro Movers came over the day after I called and gave me an estimate to load and move items from our house in Cranston RI to Brooklyn NY and Dryden NY. We had packed all the boxes, but Astro packed a few large paintings that I didnt now how to pack. The movers picked up items from our house and shed and then from a storage unit 3 miles away. They delivered the items going to Brooklyn then next day and stored the Dryden shipment unitl the following week when they had another shipment going that way. Astro stored the Dryden shipment free for the week they had it. I had requested that they call 30 mintues before they would be delivering to both Brooklyn and Dryden. They did this and they also called the day before they delivered to Dryden to let us know what time they would be there.

I found Astro via Angie's List. I was moving from Chicago to RI, and at the last minute, our mortgage was delayed, and rather than move directly into my new home, I had to move to storage, and was faced with finding a second (local) moving company for the second move into the new house. Because of the tight timeline, I called Astro and worked with their estimator over the phone (it was the day of the giant blizzard in February); he offered to come out to the storage unit, but I declined, as I knew the weather would be awful. Fortunately, I was able to provide Kurt with an accurate shipment weight and a full list of belongings from the paperwork of my first move. From this, Kurt gave me an estimate of $1350, and let me know that I would be refunded any money should the hours needed for my move be less than the 10 hours he estimated. Day of the move: We had another snowstorm the night before the Astro move, and because their team had to shovel out their truck, they were a little late (totally understandable). I called a few minutes before they were due to arrive, and their dispatcher confirmed a new arrival time, which was accurate. The three man team from Astro was great. I believe Doug, Matt, and Billy work together often, so they moved very efficiently as a team. They were very careful with my belongings, and tolerant of me hanging around while they loaded the truck (I had to stay there per the storage facilities' policy, and to have them verify the unit was empty). When they arrived at the house, they were just as careful unloading into the house. The items that were disassembled for moving were neatly reassembled, particularly a tricky desk, and no dings or dents were made in any of my walls or doors. They asked where I wanted everything, and correctly sorted all furniture and boxes into the appropriate rooms. A great move overall. Lastly, a month after my move to the house, I had some additional furniture delivered. When I ordered from the online company, I didn't realize their delivery was curbside only. Our house is set back a ways from the street, so several palettes of boxed furniture were left in the bottom of my driveway. Not good. I called Astro, and explained my bone-headed move with the curbside delivery, and begged for help. Chuck, the owner, got on the phone and let me know he had two gentlemen unloading at the warehouse that were ending their shifts shortly (it was a Friday afternoon). He let me know he would ask them if they minded an extra hour of work after they finished their shift. 10 minutes later , Astro called back to confirm they would be sending over the two movers, to arrive within two hours of my initial call. Two more excellent movers, both careful and considerate, showed up to move my furniture into the house. LIfesavers! I didn't have to have furniture sitting in my driveway overnight! Great service from Astro.
Description of Work: I used Astro to move from a storage unit into a single family home. Additionally, they helped with an emergency furniture delivery.

They were on time, professional, did what they said they would do. I have a lot of experience moving and they were terrific. They came and did a walk through, emailed an estimate, scheduled the move - loaded on Monday, unloaded on Tuesday. Even with Nemo we pulled it off. I can't recommend them highly enough.
Description of Work: Astro moved me from RI to VT.

The representative arrived on time. He toured our house and was able to give suggestions and estimates regarding the packing and moving of the contents. He left our house and within three hours (at the most) had sent us a complete estimate for review for the move. Based upon his information, we are definitely using the services of this company at a date to be determined shortly.
Description of Work: Recieved a representative to assess our moving needs and a timely quote. He was personable and professional. We have not yet booked his company for the actual move are doing so this week.

It went really well; I can't imagine a move going much better. The office listened carefully to me and facilitated throughout. Since my house in MD is at the end of a narrow, one-lane road, I was concerned that a standard 18-wheeler would have difficulty navigating the route and that a transfer to a shuttle vehicle might be necessary. Astro's office identified the right truck for the job so that delivery went smoothly without any need for a shuttle. The movers were great. They phoned in advance to firm up their arrival time. They were courteous, friendly, helpful, and strong. That truck was cleverly packed - nothing moved once it was in place. They moved my belongings rapidly and were on time for unloading. I would recommend them to my friends and use them again myself.
Description of Work: Astro loaded and moved my household goods and furnishings from Baton Rouge, LA to Maryland where they unloaded and placed them.

.The movers showed up exactly on time, worked until all our belongings were packed. The storm required the movers to reroute and keep all on the truck until11/1/12. We were involved at both end of the move and were very happy how our belongings were treated. At both ends of the move the movers worked with a only a few short breaks until the move was completed. These people are great, from the staff who set up the move to the actually movers. There were a few dings and dents but for the most part everything went without a hitch.
Description of Work: We had to move o 10/29/12 from Utica, NY to Centerville, MA during the Sandy storm.

The men were polite and extremely helpful even at the end of the day when they became tired. Tim had me check the rooms at the end of the day to be sure that the large pieces of furniture were in the right place. Unfortunately two of the bureaus were in the wrong places and needed to be switched. The guys moved them graciously and professionally. We were very happy with the quality of the service.
Description of Work: Tim and his crew spent two full days filling and emptying two trucks with our belongings. We boxed everything except mirrors, tvs and large pieces of furniture. The house we moved from had three floors and an artist's studio with two floors. There were many boxes, large boxed paintings, and heavy equipment from the basement and studio. The new house has 5 floors from attic to basement. Much of the heavy equipment had to go to the third floor and the basement. The crew worked diligently and professionally both days.

Astros guys called the day before to confirm the time, arrived 15 minutes early and completed the move out with no drama. They were waiting for me when I unlocked the door Monday morning and had the office back up and running in 90 minutes. It couldn't have gone any smoother.
Description of Work: Contracted to have all furniture and files removed from office so we could replace carpet and paint with minimum interuption to business

I was very very pleased with my experience using Astro of New England (who subcontracted the physical move through National Van Lines). As most people know, moving is stressful. I was moving from Atlanta to New York City and was just worried about receiving my furniture on time and in good condition. They picked up my furniture from an Atlanta storage facility (coordinating with my father in Atlanta) and then drove to New York City where they delivered the furniture to my apartment and also to a second location (since I couldn't take all the furniture). They had to actually carry a sofa up stairs at the second location but were professional about it and didn't complain. The National Van Driver (Bob) handled the Atlanta and New York side of pick up and delivery. He was assisted by a younger guy named Brandon. Both were incredibly professional. Bob gave me updates along the way regarding estimated pick up and delivery. He was on time with delivery - down to the minute almost! He and Brandon had a really good system for getting materials into my apartment and setting things up according to my wishes. I just can't stress enough how nice they both were, just really friendly and genuinely trustworthy. They reminded me of just good old school solid people. My experience with Astro was good although I do wish they'd itemized my actual bill more. It was a bit vague as to why I was being charged the overall total - but since the overall charge was comparable to what others companies quoted me, I didn't question the charge too much since it generally made sense based on certain estimated charges they listed. I feel like I may have missed a step or something because I did find it a little strange I was charged based on an estimate and not the actual charges. Maybe the estimate was correct but out of curiosity it would have been nice to know what the actual service charge was in the end. I found the first customer service person Mike to be super nice and patient in getting me set up with the estimate, etc. However, I did find another female customer service rep with whom I spoke towards the actual move date, to not be as patient as I would have liked. This was my first time doing a move this large and expensive so although I admit I asked a lot of questions!, I wish the rep. could have been more empathetic to why someone spending $2500 on a move might have more than a question or two to ask. Again though, the move was fine so it all worked out in the end. I'd definitely recommend Astro (and National Van line) if you want a stress free move. I'm a worrywart by nature but the movers really did a nice job.
Description of Work: I had furniture picked up from Atlanta and delivered to my new apartment in New York City. I had prepacked most of the furniture so it really was primarily a pick up/delivery job although they did reinforce a lot of the wood furniture items and they packed up my leather sofa with extra wrapping so it was more protected.

Response from ASTRO OF NEW ENGLAND LLC
This move was not subcontracted out to National Van Lines. The driver, Bob Doucette, is a driver for Astro of New England. Astro is an agent for National Van Lines. Member contacted Astro regarding her move. She gave us a copy of a quote she received from another moving company she found online. Because she could not get a physical site survey done, Astro based their pricing on the iventory list she provided us. Member also made several changes to her move after we quoted her (i.e. Astro was not informed about the pickup at a mini storage, extra delivery in New York, and certificate of insurances requested at destination). The femal representative at Astro helped answer Member's questions in a respectful manner. She also emailed all estimates to Member so she could see the changes in pricing. The pricing was also based on the availability of Astro having a driver in the GA area.

Moving day was reasonably smooth, although the amount of stuff to move was underestimated a bit and they couldn't quite fit everything on two trucks. It took longer than expected. The moving guys were professional and nice although they were exhausted by the end since it was a long, ferociously hot day. The owner sent back two guys a day or two after the move to pick up things they couldn't fit on the trucks and to rearrange the basement to make everything fit better. It was our second move using Astro and they are a good outfit. We have used other Rhode Island movers and Astro is the best of the bunch.
Description of Work: Moved fairly large household short distance. Unfortunately it was about the hottest day of the whole summer.

From start to finish, from the accuracy of the quote to the final box at delivery, Astro performed well at all levels. Their team was on time, loaded safely and delivered 5 states away on our exact day as promised. Our goods were unloaded without damage and placed wherever requested. Staff was professional, courteous and sensitive to our needs. Moves are hard. Astro did their part to make things go as smoothly as possible. Highly reccomened.
Description of Work: It is with great pleasure that I share how terrific Astro performed our move. Everyone within the organization; Chuck, Mike, Elisa and especially Bob were excellent at their profession. Moreover, there attention to detail and customer service was someting I had not seen in a moving company in a long time. I would highly recommend them for any move, big or small.
