This went well for us. Andy was professional and knowledgeable. A backup was caused by a clogged drain. I was unable to use my washing machine. It is all clear and all set. We called on Saturday and someone picked up right away, scheduling us for Monday at our request. We would recommend this company to anyone needing this service. Reasonable rates.

In November 2015 I had a sudden sewer backup while running my dishwasher, which led to a basement flood. After diagnosing the problem, I quickly went to Yelp and saw Wood's was highly rated, with people having used them for my exact problem. They were able to come out quickly and attempted to snake the line from the main stack in the basement. They only brought the small head for the snake, and after spending a while trying to unclog it, they gave up. The line was full of water so they weren't able to put the camera in, and traced the line to the clog in the middle of the other side of the basement. I was told that the blockage was due to roots infiltrating the line, reaching all the way into the basement. They determined this from their experience, and the cutter head coming back "shiny". I believed them, being the experts. I was told my options were to use a water jet on the line, which would flood my basement with sewage, or to wait for the water to go down for a few days and have them come back to try the camera. I don't know if you've ever been unable to let any water go down the drains, but it's a pretty miserable and unhealthy way to live. I had to stop up every sink in the house, and the tub, and use a shop vac to suck up the water when they got full, then carry it outside and drain it. My toilet was a bucket. I ended up having to close my home business, losing my income, and leave the house waiting for the water to drain. I had someone checking on the place while I was away, and the water didn't seem to be going anywhere. I waited longer, and lost out on thousands of dollars of income. In December, I had them come out again, still living like a hobo, hoping they'd be able to fix it. They confirmed no water had gone down and attempted another snake. They were here for over an hour and I could hear the snake grinding against something under the floor. Finally, they gave up again. They said they weren't going to get any further and that the main line was completely clogged with roots. I would need to dig up the basement, my yard, and driveway. The cost could be anywhere from $8,000 - $15,000. I was horrified. There was no way I could afford this, and even with a sewer rider, insurance doesn't cover repairs like this. I was unable to work, and now unable to live under human conditions in my house. The stress was overwhelming. After checking the plans for the sewer line, Wood's found that it was too deep outside the property for them to even dig, and they referred me to another company. Based on the information Wood's provided about the main line being blocked by roots, possibly broken, I was told the initial discovery dig would cost $4,000+. This would destroy the front of my house and part of my driveway. Further digging for repairs would at least double that estimate. Again, not being able to afford this, I was left with the only option I could see, closing my business indefinitely and abandoning the house, or attempting to sell it in it's current condition. Again, terrible choices. It had already been nearly two months of misery and I couldn't take it anymore. As a last resort, I decided to call another plumber to see if there might be other technology available, to at least some extent, clean the line enough for water to get through temporarily. I reached out to Dennis Diffley Drain Services and got a call back from someone who I can only describe as the Gregory House of plumbers. He had me text him photos of the pipes, stack, sewer plans, and the room where they said the roots had gotten into. Just from the photos and the town that I'm in, he told me what probably happened is that the previous owners buried a cleanout that was usually outside. He said it would be under my computer, and to bang on the floor to see if an area sounded different. Sure enough, I could hear a difference. He said they could come out, or I could try and chisel away at that spot to see if there was a plug. There was! This wizard of water said in my town, and a couple others, there are these twisting traps in the house, which Wood's would not have been able to get through. They should have absolutely known this. On top of that, the diameter of the pipe changes after the trap, so a snake would not have helped. Diffley's sent someone out on Christmas Eve to dig up the area, pull the trap, and replace the pipe. There were no roots, and the pipe to and from the trap were completely clear. The trap itself was the entire issue, and apparently had been since before I moved in here. If I hadn't called someone else, I would have wasted over $4,000, plus the cost of digging up the trap later anyway. I was furious when I realized how misled I had been. To be clear, I doubt any of this was intentional on Wood's part. I believe they had no idea what they were dealing with, were unfamiliar with apparently common plumbing and building practices, and were fine with giving me a diagnosis they weren't completely sure of as if it was fact. They should not be in this line of business if they could be so wrong about this, and someone else could diagnose the problem from cell phone photos. As if all that wasn't enough, all over the area they had been working in, including handles, door frames, walls, and other equipment, were sewage caked smears and hand prints. I was finding them a month later after I thought I cleaned it all. I was so disgusted by this, and several times accidentally touched dried sewage while I was working downstairs. This could make people very sick and there's no excuse for this. If you know you have human waste all over your hands, DON'T TOUCH EVERYTHING IN A PERSON'S HOUSE. Bring soap and water to wash your hands, clean and disinfect the area you've worked in if you accidentally make a mess. I've never had a worse experience with a company that cost me so much in wasted time, lost work, income, and stress.
Description of Work: Made two failed attempts to unclog a sewer line, and provided completely inaccurate information that nearly cost me thousands. Also left a disgusting mess of sewage.

Description of Work: Had bathrooms/sinks that weren't draining. They came and tried to snake the drains along with mains. Main was cleared but they were unable to reach a section that was iced up due to bad plumbing making it unreachable (most of the old plumbing was troublesome). At a later service (Next day, billed separately) a section of tiled wall had to be removed and pipes cut to access problem area and put in a clean-out for future use. Ultimately all issues were resolved in a timely and cost-conscious manner.
