+ -1 moreThe Gentle Giant teams I have hired over the past 6 years have been consistently amazing. They are competent and strong and seem to make moving an art. They take away all your moving stress which is the bottom line for me. I will always call Gentle Giant for a major move or even an in house move.

+ -1 morethings they DID NOT tell us prior to arrival: they wanted to stop for lunch on our time, they claim they don't handle bleach/detergent/jewelry, and the insurance does not cover things they don't pack themselves...BTW they broke 4 of my antique wine gobblets, oh but the insurance doesn't cover it because they didn't pack it!!!!!!!!! we were ready to leave our place to go to the new one, and they said they had to stop to get water...which I thought was odd they didn't have water already. when they said they wanted to stop for lunch, it was on the way to the new place, and they said they came first before our pets (whom were moving with us). they also offered us to come out and check the truck before they left our new place, but literally the next minute said they were in a hurry and had to leave.
Description of Work: all the issues i addressed in the prior review are true, they came at 8AM and finished around lunch time...so there was still plenty of time to get their meals. my mother and i had no trouble with them getting water or lunch, but BECAUSE of our pets, we were trying to minimize their stress, they were moving to the next state over (with us) and they've been in pet carriers for at least 5 hours! to us, our pets were the main issue. there was other stuff that happened that i just dont want to get into again, we just wanted this whole experience resolved. i contacted the owner/manager first in December, with no reply...i emailed, called, and texted...finally got a hold of him this week. He did offer a small partial refund, which my mother and i did accept...but he was still adamant that the services his company provided were superior and put words into my mouth. Overall, we were displeased with the moving services, HOWEVER my mother and i are extremely glad he rectified the issues we had. He seemed like a very nice man who really cares about how his business is perceived, he did relent and gave us that partial refund. he then contacted me on 2/27 claiming this new revised review was not posted, which is not my fault, its angie's list fault!

Description of Work: This company was first class and exceeded our expectations at every turn. From the guy who came to give the estimate, to the person who sent me a quote within 18 hours of that, to the crew who moved us, they were amazing! They hire and train better and retain people with better pay and benefits than other moving companies. They are efficient and thorough and very skilled. They did not hit the wall once or break or scratch anything. We have moved a number of times and this company exceeds the big companies, as well as the cheaper companies. Also, their estimate was right on and accurate.

Description of Work: I was only charged for 2 movers but they actually brought 3 guys which made the move go a lot faster. They were friendly and helpful and careful with my belongings- nothing was damaged in the move.

+ -1 moreThe crew knew we needed to be out by 1230pm for a walkthrough. showed up early and got it done. Pleasant, cooeprative, friendly, interesting guys. Emptied our old house in a safe, efficient manner. kept stuff overnight and showed up on time to deliver into new house. Reassembled furniture, beds, etc. Very easy to work with. Have had bad moving experiences before so you don't appreciate a good mover until you deal with a bad one. Our estimate was a bit short (we needed another 1/2 truck) but they did not charge us bc it wasn't on the estimate. That is almost unheard of from a moving company. Highly recommended

+ -1 moreIt was twice the amount that I had for the one I used for moving. They were great but it was more expensive. But they have great answering service. They are known to be very pricey. They got back to me. They were very nice to me as far as the quote is concerned. I have used them in the pass. They are great movers especially if you have a lot of stuff or valuable. But there are also smaller guys who give good service.

+ -1 moreI've moved several times as a homeowner, and this was BY FAR the BEST moving experience I've had. When the movers arrived to move us out of our old home, we weren't finished packing. Our buyers' walk-through was happening in 5 hours. They didn't even blink an eye. They just got to work, and got the job done. I was able to clean as they finished each room, and our house was empty and sparkling when the buyers arrived. The next day they moved us into our new house. They were pleasant, friendly, careful, and generally fun to be around. Not only did they place things in the correct room, they happily offered to move furniture to different rooms when we changed our minds about where things should go. They didn't leave until we were 100% satisfied with all the furniture placement. We just finished unpacking, and not a single item was damaged in any way. Moving is an incredible stressful event, and Gentle Giant did everything they could to make it easier for us. The price was reasonable for the services provided. If you have a move in your future, don't consider anyone else. Gentle Giant is the best.

+ -1 moreTo book the moving date I worked with a salesperson that layed everything out in detail so there was not any surprises in the end. I paid a deposit to secure my moving date and then just waited until about 2 days before the actual move. They called me 2 days before and reviewed everything. On the day of moving they turned up with the amount of people & the size truck that we had agreed on. They were there about 15 minutes before the schedule time, they walked through the house to come up with a plan for packing and loading their truck. I went to the new house and they arrived about 4 hours later. They were courteous, friendly & polite the whole time. They stayed forcus on the job they were doing but also inacted with youin a fun way. They did whatever you requested of them....the job came in under time and under dollars. I would recommend them to anyone that wants a smooth moving experience.
Description of Work: The moving company packed all furniture & large items for a 3 bedroom house and moved them to our new address. One thing that I think makes the moving experience a better one....is packing smaller items yourself.....I was moving close enough that I could take all the small items like paintings & china etc etc. to the house myself.
