GENERAL KITCHENS INC

We paid GK 100% on counter tops and cabinets at the time of ordering. We found General Kitchens difficult to deal with (demanding in office appointments for ever change, refusing to give us a sample cabinet color, or even one of our own doors, in order to pick out paint colors). We called the counter top supplier to view our slab. They told us they didn't have any order from General Kitchens for our counter (2 months after we paid in full). We took the opportunity to cancel our counter top order with General Kitchens. It DID say on the order we signed "100% non -refundable", but since they had not ordered it yet, we (foolishly) thought they would refund our money. GK cancelled our already scheduled cabinet delivery - and let us know they would be charging us an $840 "storage fee" because of the cancellation. We eventually relented and bought our counter tops from them, just because they were holding out 100% paid for cabinets hostage. They do all there design work on a 1980's beige computer - with a stick figure type autocad system. You have to fax them everything because they don't have E-mail The owner of the company pretends to just be an employee. He SCREAMED at out our contractor who is THE nicest guy in the world You can call the store and it rings and rings because there is only the owner and one other employee. We were getting a refund because of a change order - it was six months after our initial order before they paid us. The single worst purchasing experience I have ever had.

THEY WERE ABLE TO MATCH THE NEW COUNTERTOP TO WHAT I ALREADY HAD SO IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING HAD BEEN REPLACED. THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE ON PRICE AND ACTUALLY BILLED ME FOR LESS THAN THE QUOTE.
