Bob arrived within 2 hours of me sending the email about the stove not working, and then stayed to do the other jobs that I mentioned needing done if he had time. From beginning to end, including the trip to the store, took about 3 1/2 hours. I didn't feel at any point like I was being talked down to or that he was in a rush to get out. Everything was left completely cleaned up, including disposing of the old lights parts, and in good working order.,
Description of Work: My oven was not working although the lights and clock on the stove still worked. Bob called me within a half hour of me sending the email and arrived within about an hour. He replaced the circuit breaker for the stove, as well as the circuit breaker for the hot water heater, where the amperage on the line and circuit breaker did not match up. He replaced two ceiling lights for me and and also brought up to code the outdoor electrical outlet, including going to the store to get a few parts that were needed.

I wanted him to come out and look at my smoke detectors to make sure they were working properly. I had one that was going off on the third floor. I had bought new ones in case I needed them to be done. I called him at about 1:35 and he said he would be there by 2:30. He showed up a little bit after 3:00. He didn't even look at the detectors; he just changed them, which I could have done. He sent me to the store because he said I needed a new light fixture, but basically that was because he didn't want to just install the chain. When I came back with those things, I came back, and he said he was all done except for the light fixture. By that time, he had to leave because he had a class to go to. He said he would be back Saturday morning to put the switch in, but he never showed up. He charged me extra for the service charge, which he had never mentioned, though I had asked for the price.
Description of Work: He inspected the smoke detectors, put in an outlet, put in a new chain for the ceiling fan.

When Mrs. Hawkins called I informed her that I charge a $75.00 service call and $75.00 labor for the first hour that charge is from door to door. There was heavy trafic at 2 PM that going through downtown RI. I went and told her the the problems she had. I told her I could do the work and she agreed to have me fix them. I installed 5 smoke detectors that she had purchased because she was told on the phone that if these detectors were old than you can't replace it with a different model numbers because they won't work right. It appeared that the painter had taken the detectors down and damaged the wall. The smoke detectors were hanging out of the wall in the hallway. I have been in business a long time and I pride myself on being on time and fair. However I am in business to make a living and complete work as fast and an professionally as possible. As far as the light for the fan goes. The fan pull chain switch was not available an would entail another trip to the property. She told me she would buy the light and install it herself. I was willing to come back on Sat. but I would have to charge her another $75.00 for labor. She declined. I gave her great service and I repaired all items that were damaged . I guess you can't please everyone. Some people hear what they want to here. I told Mrs.Hawkins my price on the phone before I came there. I told her what the issue was on the phone before I came there in regards to the smoke detectors. That is why she had bought four new smoke detectors. When I told Mrs. Hawkins that she had 5 smoke detectors she went to get the 5th one. I replaced the four detectors per her direction and she went to get the 5th. I just didn't replace these detectors on my own. I also replaced two circuit breakers.

Description of Work: Bob answered the phone immediately (the number is his cell number) and was available at the time I placed the call and was at my house within 15 min. I didn't have an emergency situation, just a couple of electrical fixes. He was thorough in his work and solved all of the problems. He also gave free advice.

Rob, the owner, returned my call promptly and scheduled us quickly for an emergency call for a small item. He arrived on time, and repaired the blown outlet. He also spent considerable time evaluating the cause of the problem, and advised us how to use the electrical system in a safe and more cost effective manner. Upon our request, he provided a quote to update old house wiring with upgrades to the system. He was sensitive to our budget concerns, and offered ways to "phase" the future work, as budget allows. Overall I found him to be professional, knowledgeable, and fair.
Description of Work: Emergency call for blown outlet. Assessment of current electrical system. Evaluation of electrical usage and recommendation for reconfiguring placement of small appliances and audio-visual components. Provide and install new lighting fixture.
