He was very honest and efficient. He could have done a lot unnecessary and expensive work but he was able to avoid a higher cost with a little creative thinking. Great job.

I had an excellent experience with Malone Pluming. After a couple emails pricing things out I gave Jim a quick call to schedule and he sent a team out that arrived on time and were completely professional from the moment they arrived. They came in and immediately started putting down drop cloths where they'd be working so there was no mess from the removal of the toilets and other areas. The work took them about 6 hours total, which included a very tricky disposal installation. The faucet was a last-minute addition to the original quote but because the hand-shower was so easy for them to put in they didn't increase the price of the original quote to factor int he new faucet, which saved me some money in the long run too. There was no electrical for the disposal but they said if we get an electrician to run a wire they would come back and hook up the disposal if needed. I've also had them measure a shower stall downstairs for a future renovation and look forward to hearing what ideas they can come up with there. I've definitely found my plumber for this area.

They sent me a quote for almost $5000.
Description of Work: I asked this company for a quote to install a sump pump and rough in 3 fixturesb for a bathroom in our basement. The basement is already plumbed for these things so the only work that needs to be done is hook up the fixtures (which I will provide), install a sump pump and bring the water which is only a few feet away.

The company called to inform that the technician was on his way. The technician arrived on time and was professional and courteous. Although it seemed like a simple repair, the interior valve was located in the basement and the previous owners had built hardwood unit around it - this made the repair more difficult and time-consuming. However it was completed and the technician explained in detail what he had done and how to operate the new valve.

John showed up on time and was able to have the pipes fixed and inspected within an hour or so. He was courteous, efficient, and was able to get the problem resolved in one visit. Earlier, I had sent Malone a photo of the problem so they were able to see where the pipe was busted and came prepared with the proper fix. I've used Malone before and while they are pricier than other area plumbers, they are experts in what they do and I feel confident in their work. I also believe that if I were to find an issue with their work after the job is completed, they would rectify the problem. They don't do "patchwork" or "quick fixes." They are in the plumbing business to "stay in the plumbing business" and I would endorse/recommend Malone if you want the job done right.

Although this was an unexpected expense that I was very unhappy to find out that we had to do, Tom (Malone) was calm and collected and made the experience as pleasant as I could imagine. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and intelligent, he is incredibly sweet and considerate (we heard him make sure that the excavators didn't destroy the garden next to the pathway that needed to be dug -- to put in a new sewer line, they had to build a trench going out from our basement to the street 11 feet underground). When the job ended up being more difficult that he suspected, rather than just make the job take longer, he got four more of his employees to the house so that the job would be done in one day (we couldn't enter/exit our house through the main entrance or use the water while the job was taking place). Given that it wasn't part of the quote, he split some of the cost with us without us even asking him and then still let us use the Angie's List discount at the end. In sum, this is my strongest possible recommendation that I can possibly give. Malone Plumbing & Heating routinely exceeds my expectations. They are extremely competent with competitive prices. Even if someone else gave a lower quote, it is worth paying the extra bucks to know that your plumbing is well taken care of. (In fact, we have another $1-2k plumbing job that we need to do and are hiring them again).
Description of Work: Cleared broken sewer line (~$800) and then replaced it ($7500). Ran a new PVC main drain. Broke and repaired basement floor to insert the pipe. Ended up having to run PVC pipe along our entire basement!

Originally called to check for potential sewer line leak in front yard. Tom checked and confirmed that there was not an issue. I went over some additional plumbing items I was considering -- he was great and answered all my questions, provided me with options and got me an estimate for the items in less than 24 hours. His team arrived on-time, were very friendly and professional and walked me over the options. I ended up not performing one of the items on the list as it was going to be much more involved and costly than initially thought. His team was great at explaining what it would entail and they gave me the option of deciding to move forward or not. Will definitely use him again.

This past fall we had a flood in our kitchen and Tom Malone came to remove the toilet in a small bathroom in the kitchen so the flooring people could replace the floor. He purchased a new toilet for us and installed it after the floor was replaced. He also replaced a kick heater in the kitchen and they answered an emergency call at 6:00 am when our heat went off sometime during the night. They came to fix the problem at 8:00 am. We were very happy with Malone Plumbing and would call them again.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT GO WITH MALONE PLUMBING! They came out to quote plumbing for 2 bathrooms. I told them I would have all the floors ripped up and get the pipes to code (ie insulate the hot water pipe) and all they had to do was connect the PVC piping to preexisting pipes and run pex tubing for the hot and cold water (rough in). All very cheap materials and a straight forward job. When I got the quote I was a little shocked because it was $9450. But before I jumped to conclusions, they were trying to rip me off, I asked them to break down the pricing of labor and materials. The first quote they sent back had materials coming out to $7000 and labor $2200 (+$250 permit). Anyone who knows anything about plumbing knows that's bogus for materials. So I wrote back and immediately he sent me a quote with materials costing $2200 and labor $7000. $2200 for materials is still very expensive for PVC and pex to be roughed into a bathroom but $7000 for labor is an absolute atrocity. I've talked to other plumbers and they said the job should not take more than 3 days which would come out to $2300 a day to do the plumbing. When I asked Tom Malone to explain the pricing he just said he's been doing this for 30+ years and that's his quote. He was rather moody on the phone and could not tell me the exact time it would take. He was very unprofessional with the quotes messing up the materials and labor costs and extremely unprofessional with the way he handled the phone conversation. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY!

The weekend after Thanksgiving an iron pipe above my furnace completely rotted and began dripping uncontrollably through the pipe insulation. Fortunately, that weekend was mild so I turned off the furnace and called Malone Plumbing on Monday morning. The dispatch fellow, Tom, I think(not the owner) was polite and professional. He said he would dispatch someone and Nestor arrived when he was scheduled. Nestor is a Master plumber and was very professional and patient with my questions. After assessing the issue with the rotted pipe, he went over the job with two fellows who were Journeymen and would be doing the job. Both guys were polite and professional and also patient with my questions. Justin seemed the most experienced but I felt very comfortable with both doing the work after Nestor went over with them what needed to be done and how to best tackle it; although both guys were good problem solvers when one arose. They performed the work based on an hourly rate but didn't drag it out. They had to use some brute force to get the damaged iron pipe section out since they needed to get to a good pipe end to attach the new piping to. Though concerning to watch, they didn't damage or destroy anything that was not suppose to be. The guys worked the entire time they were on the job and even hooked me up with a business near the main post office that sells commercial grade pipe insulation(not the thin wall stuff). I appreciated that very much. As Justin was refilling the boiler to test the system for leaks, he gave me some pointers on how to better maintain my furnace which again, I appreciated. My only gripe, and not really that, their trucks are colorful billboards which attract attention as they are designed to do. Unfortunately, I live on a main street in my city and the city inspector happened by as an iron pipe was being threaded in the driveway. The inspector stopped and wanted to know where the permit was for doing work. The guys called the office and Tom, or the owner was able to straighten the inspector out that this was an emergency call and so no permit was needed. They handled it professionally with the city inspector and the city went away. The following morning after the work had been completed, Tom from the main office called to check that all was working well with the furnace. Though Malone Plumbing is not inexpensive, I was fine with paying what I did to have the peace of mind that the job had been done correctly and I wouldn't be looking for another plumber to fix a botched job. Malone Plumbing was prompt, professional, competent, and courteous. They came when they said they would, explained the work, made call backs when they said they would, did a good job replacing the rotted section of iron pipe and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I would definitely hire Malone Plumbing again.

Calling them up was a breeze, and the 'dispatcher' was very polite with me -- I was able to get same day service that afternoon. He also gave me a call when the technician was on the way. The technician showed up on time, and was very patient answering all of my questions. And I had quite a few. He had to run to a nearby store to get a part at one point, but was very quick about it. He even fixed a leaky faucet while he was here.

We bought a century-old three-family house. Needless to say, it had problems. When someone came to give a quote for Malone Plumbing, I was really impressed by how knowledgeable he was. Another company had just sent a go-for guy, but Malone sent a master plumber. He understood my issues and added more information about why there was more wrong than I had realized. I did NOT see this as an upsell because he was able to cite all the codes my old klunker of a house was breaking. I got the quote from Malone and was a little taken aback by the price. It seemed like a lot of money. I worked with Tom, and he separated out the jobs so I could tackle them in separate visits. I had them do four jobs on their first visit to the house for a total of $622. One of those jobs was not scheduled in advance so they just charged me for it by the hour. I was charged for a half hour (plus the part) to add a valve to a stove's gas line. I thought that was reasonable. Here's what I appreciated about Malone Plumbing. 1. They arrived right on time. 2. They worked quickly and with minimal interruption to the household. 3. They explained the work they did and were more than happy to answer any questions - thoroughly. 4. They had to reschedule because the person assigned to my job had called out sick. Understandable. They offered to send someone else. I requested a specific guy because he had done such a great job with my quote. They rescheduled quickly, did their follow-up diligently, and assigned the plumber I had requested. 5. They were able to add on the fourth job on the day of service and were very accommodating. 6. Everyone they sent was friendly, respectful, pleasant and professional while in my home. (There was more than one person sent.) 7. It has been about 6 weeks since they were here and I have had no issues with any of their work. Everything they did was completed well. I think this is what everyone is looking for in a plumber!
