Lawton Moving and Storage

In Aug 2022, these movers loaded my belongings and put them in their storage facility. When I received my things, I was, and still am extremely angry. Broken items (too many to list), a box of Jordan sneakers just disappeared, a box of cherished snow globes was crushed and 7 globes were smashed in the box ( the box was delivered saturated with water) and a sacred, granite altar was missing. My antique rocking horse was broken ( they gave me a whopping 75$) for it. Beware...if you don't let them pack your box or pay for their expensive insurance, you get nothing toward your broken items! I was told that I didn't pack the boxes right and that's why they aren't responsible. They moved 3 TV's "as a courtesy" and TWO were broken with spiderweb cracks. Those boxes were either thrown when arriving at storage or thrown on the truck for delivery. Every box was labeled. They knew what was in boxes and glassware was FRAGILE. Never, ever again with these people. NEVER. And I stupidly gave each of the movers a $40.00 tip. (A check made out to CASH) I'm still infuriated. USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I have moved more times in my life than I care to remember. After a few bad experiences with other movers I tried these guys on advice from a friend. Best moving company ever! They were quick, professional and honest. Lawton Moving showed up and it was like the Harvard soccer team was moving me. The "crew chief" introduced himself and the others and then they literally were running in and out of the house with 2-3 boxes each. Good cross training I guess.... I've used these guys 2 times and had a great experience every time.

What do you do when you have heavy, expensive machinery and equipment arriving and the only way to get it into the building is through a 2nd story window.? Hiring a rigging company is overkill, yet the job is beyond the scope of regular movers. As a Project Manger this is the kind of dilemma I often face and finding the right people for the job is not easy. But lucky us, we found Lawton Movers. Chris and his gang showed up on time and fully prepared for the job - metal ramps and all. Once I started to see them in action (working with our lead guy) I knew I could relax. Everyone was courteous and professional and were confident in how to handle the job. They even stayed to help us place the equipment on it's stand and screw in the bolts. No need to hire another crew for that. When we discussed the job originally, Chris said we would need 6 crew and I agreed. But then he showed up with 8, just to be on the safe side - no extra cost either. Yes, it cost some bucks and they had a three-hour minimum, but given the value of this equipment, this was not the time to go on the cheap and it was worth every penny. Knowing I can rely upon them in the future is a huge de-stressor. Thank you Lawton Movers, you guys are terrific!

My primary complaint is the amount of time it took the two movers to pack and unload a very few pieces of furniture and miscellaneous boxes. They disappeared for long periods of time. Since the cost was based on number of hours, they went well over what I had anticipated and what the company had suggested it would take. I would not use this company again. At the time I contacted with them their rating was higher. I apologize to other users for not submitting this review sooner.

There was enough damage to my belongings that I would not feel comfortable recommending their services to someone else. Pros: 1) Setting up the appointment went quickly and smoothly. 2) Company had good direct communication. 3) Offered advice on how to orchestrate moving alongside multiple house closings. Cons: 1) Multiple pieces were damaged. - Front corner of armoire crushed - Maple dresser scraped along front - Metal workbench warped - Kitchen table incorrectly disassembled and not correctly reassembled resulting in a wobbly table that required repair - Washer damaged - 2 boxed glass vases broken 2) Damaged hardwood floor (5" gouge) because they refused to use a hand truck (actually they laughed at my hand truck suggestion right before they gouged my hardwoods). Then they were very proud to show me how well they masked the gouge with a portable repair kit. The gouge was no longer raw wood after the repair but there was still a deep cut in the floor. 3) Sold me on damage insurance during initial contract signing. After damaging my floor and furniture, the foreman told me the insurance Lawton sold wouldn't cover the damage. He further explained, the insurance does not apply to tight spaces and all my damage unfortunately took place in a tight space. The insurance felt like a scam at that point. 4) Boxes that were clearly labeled did not go to their intended rooms. For example, boxes that were marked "KITCHEN" in large bold contrasting marker were carried to the living room and some to the basement.

My son was moving from his dorm room to an apartment and ended up moving himself so I ended up not using Lawton Moving, but found my interactions with the company to be very efficient and professional. Would definitely call them again

I was very satisfied with the move.

There were a few things that they left behind even though I told them to bring the things. They were supposed to be expert piano movers but they had a very hard time moving my grand piano. They even had to come back a different day to get the piano because they forgot a tool to take it apart. Everything arrived fine, but the move wasn’t as smooth as it could have been.

Lawton was very punctual and very professional. After an initial burst of effort to move our boxes and furniture, the energy of the 5 man team quickly fizzled out on a warm but not hot day, meaning that a 2/3 of a day job meandered into a full day job. While we expected that a number of the cheaper pieces of furniture would potentially be damaged by the move, on later inspection, there were few if any pieces of furniture that did not escape at least a surface scratch.

They were good. Their price and responsiveness were very good. Their quality of service, punctuality and professionalism were all excellent.
