Lets just start at the beginning. I found this painter doing a house in the neighborhood. By the way that house is complete now obviously and its the worst looking paint job in the neighborhood. He left that job that day to give me a quote it was middle late October and honestly I did not believe that he would be able to start the job and finish it before the painting season was over but he came and gave me a price and was eager! Overly eager! He said he could do it. But he would need a deposit right away so he could start in like three days with power washing. He said he's not like other painters that use Clorox he uses chlorine and he would do an excellent job with this house. So I foolishly gave him a deposit dated for the day he would start. In those two day between giving him the check and the start date. I realized this was foolish because the weather was already cold and there were no more good paint days left. So I canceled the check. I came home a day before he was due to start and he was power washing my house without even telling me he was going to be there that day. I found all kinds of bottles of Clorox there and my yard was a disaster. I was not happy because 1 he did not tell me he was going to start early and 2 I caught him in a lie ....He did not use chlorine, but could you believe my concern was issuing him a new check cause I knew I canceled it despite being upset that he even started and did not use the material to wash the house with what he said he would. When I said I had to give him a new check, he said why I already cashed it!! I said how it was for tomorrow. So I just thought I did not cancel it in time and he must have somehow got the bank to cash it early or that he changed the date on it. So I thought alright he has my deposit but I still think he is going to have to wait till spring. I asked him now what "how are you going to finish all this work when the weather is already below 50 degrees". He said he could and would. Well couple days went buy and he came to scrape and did not get much done. To be exact, about one small section on the right of the house was scraped and I told him this is not going to work this scraping is not good enough and the alligator marks had to get removed before painting. I said, if this was he idea of scrapped he should just wait till the spring so he can do a thorough job and not rush. He argued with me and said not this was good enough of a scraping and he would put two coats of primer on the front and lower eye lever areas to make sure that the remaining paint on the wood would not show and the cracks and alligator markings would be covered well before the paint. I then had to go out of town and it November 2 when I got a call from my bank. It was the teller who cashed the check. She told me that she made a mistake and cashed the check incorrectly and when she called him to return the money he said not that he did work for that money and he is not returning the money. The poor teller then had to call me to ask me to pay the money back to the bank and asked why I stopped the check. I explained to her that I stopped it because he was not supposed to start work on the house till spring and I gave him that check as a deposit to start but dated it for three days later so I could think about it but he started without telling me and in all honesty this is a blessing for me in disguise because I did not really want him to rush my job when it was already November. And how did the cash a canceled check anyway. So you can imagine the back and forth. I called him and we talked and I told him look he should return that money to the bank because he only power washed and has not been back to scrape since that day and I would pay him for a power wash having used Clorox and I would give him a deposit when the spring came back and when he could do a good job on the exterior with prep and paint. But he is a thief and a sleazy painter who did some thing to cash that check early and act like he was going to work but fully knowing that he could not get the job done in time. He stole that money from the bank and that poor teller might of lost her job. I told him to come back in the spring and finish and I would pay him the rest if he did a good job. He said for me to pay the bank and he would. I did not and he never came back. Poor teller called him and I over the next two weeks and clearly neither of us paid that money back. I told him what he is doing is not right but He has to come back in the spring cause I still need the job done i just did not want it started or rushed in two week in October /November. He said if I gave him more work in side he would. I said ok maybe you can quote the second floor apartment for me in February when it is ready. But I don't believe the two should be contingent. He quoted that job at 5500. Can you guys believe that. I got quotes for 1200 1300 and went with 1400. When the spring came, I called him and he said he did not want to come back cause I did not give him work inside over the winter and he deserved the money from the bank because he power washed. He walked away with a 3000 dollar power washing that I later heard from my neighbors that it was a really bad job cause his power washer was basically just drenching the house and it was never going to dry if he would have painted any time soon with temps at 50 degrees. This guy is scum of the earth and does not have any moral or work ethic. Is nothing more than a common thief in street clothes. Stay away from him.
Description of Work: Exterior 2.5 Story Victory Paint job that needed power washing and lots of prep.

He was punctual, friendly, exceptionally professional. He and his helper had the whole house done within a week, working each day for a full 8 to 10 hours. They were exceptionally clean, leave the work site pristine each day. He and his help were very very friendly. We picked the color from a laptop on the Benjamin Moore website. It was a color used in historical Williamburg Virginia about Revolutionary War times. We were surprised at how bright and colorful it was when applied. TJ (the owner and painter) painted the eves and trim a bright white which really helped make the bright blue standout. The house is now gorgeous! While TJ hails from Cranston RI, he is taking jobs as far west as the Berkshires and Springfield MA. He will be doing a neighbors house next year. If you're interested, his website address is http://www.expertpainting1.net/index.html I think you will be very very happy with his excellent work product. I love my house again.
Description of Work: Prepared a colonial style two story home for exterior painting, scraping and priming as needed. Painted in color chosen by us, while also doing trim and eaves in a bright white that really made the house pop. (previous painters had never offered to do this, and it has made an eye-opening difference).
