Boy, am I glad I got a third bid. This was a big job for me, the current system was no longer working and I needed a replacement. I got two bids - one seemed very high and the other somewhat low for the work being done. Not knowing anything about HVAC systems I had lots of questions to make sure the investment I was making was the right one for my home. The first two contractors had very different advice on how I could vent the systems. Also, I wanted to go with a waterless on-demand system which I thought was what would be best. I tried to get answers regarding the quality of the systems they were recommending, why they were recommending them and various information on the removal and install. I didn't much information, more like just being told what I needed. I didn't feel confident and my friends pushed me to get a third opinion. I called another heating installer (referred by a friend) and he highly recommended Anthony at CD heating. Knowing that the cold was coming soon and I needed heat and hot water quickly, he came out the same day and reviewed everything with me. He explained why I shouldn't vent through the chimney and that it was okay to vent out the back wall (beneath windows) as long as it was a certain kind of vent. I have 22 windows for 800 sq ft house and finding a space not beneath a window or near a door was virtually impossible. He assessed the size of my house, my needs and recommended that I not go with a on-demand system. He reviewed the equipment the other contractors recommended and explained why they can be problematic. Basically he said if I wanted to see him every few months to fix or reset the system then that was what I would get. I felt very confident in his knowledge and sincerity and decided to go with his recommendations. I reviewed the brands he wanted to use and they came very highly recommended. Also, the water tank had a life-time guarantee- no more floods! His bid came in right in the middle of the other two (who also gave me the tank options to compare). He scheduled the work for the following week - the other two bidders were several weeks before they could do the work. I was doing this on the National Grid rebate and 0% loan program. He was familiar with it and made the process super simple, letting me know the timing to get everything in place. His crew laid down paper and continually cleaned up their work. They removed the huge, size-of-a-room steel boiler and tank the first day and left the area perfectly clean. No crazy odors that I've heard other people endure. Anthony placed the new system on the other side of a dividing wall near my laundry - just how I wanted it to save a bunch of space in the rest of the basement. The job was finished on time (a bit early) and Anthony provided me with all the paperwork I needed for the loan and rebate. He explained the system and what to do if it shut off and to call him with any questions. He even called me a week later to check and see if everything was okay. It's been 2 months and the system is amazing. A constant level of heat (no highs and lows) and fast, really hot water when I need it. I highly recommend CD heating and Anthony in particular.

We decided that we needed to replace our 20+ year-old furnace before it became inoperable, so we got 4 or 5 estimates and CD Heating was the lowest. We had also had a recommedation for them from an acquaintance regarding an A/C inspection (which we had them do) and that had gone well. They showed up right on time, were courteous and professional and had the job done in about 5 hours. They installed a 80% efficeincy 80,000 BTU Rheem 2-stage furnace and thermostat, they also replaced the exhaust pipe coming off the furnace and the pipe from the water heater that joined to it since they were somewhat corroded (all included in the package price). We didn't need to use the furnace for about 5 weeks and when we did finally turn it on, nothing happened. I called and spoke with Ed (the "C" of CD Heating) who had me try a couple of things with him on the phone that night and when that didn't work, he made an appointment to come round the next day. He quickly found the problem, replaced the part and the unit has been fine since.

I spent $5500 on that job. They were excellent to work with. My hairdressers recommended me to him. He came to my house, looked at the system I had, explained the size that will work well in my house, besides furnaces and central air unit. He explained how it would hook up, gave me a quote on it and explained to me that now under building code they would have to change one of the pipes to fit the new building code. I had a quote e-mailed to me that night and I called them the next day and told them to go ahead with the work. They were wonderful to work with, did a great job and did exactly what they promised. I haven?t had any problems with the system. I had a couple of questions and was a little nervous that the unit di not have a pilot light like the others and apparently the new ones don?t come with the pilot light. I had a question about what to do with the outside condenser with leaves and stuff covering and they had no problem answering my questions and were perfectly happy to do so. They told me to cover it with a mat or something to prevent the leaves going out. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.
Description of Work: I used CD Heating Inc. in May of last year they installed a new furnace and central air-conditioning.
