The first mistake was I did not check him out completely. The second mistake was I paid him in full the morning they started. I thought the owner was going to do the job. But on the day it was to start, the owner showed up with a couple of guys told them what to do, got paid and left. I was a little concerned but had to go to work. I left them with my wife. They sanded the floors and put the seal coat on. I was not happy with the sanding around the fireplace hearth but thought I might be to cridicule so I said nothing. They did the next two coats and did not come back to do the third finish coat. I called him back and informed him that the finial coat was missing. He tried to talk me out of it but I insisted I wanted it. He sent his guys to do it and I thought it was complete. All the time it was my wife home with the guys. I say this because she was very frustrated trying to communicate with them. None of the three guys spoke English.I let the floors cure for a full seven days before putting any furniture back on them. About six weeks later I was doing some painting and put some drop cloths down with a little blue painters tape. At the end of the day it took it up and PULLED the finish coat up with it. I then tried to mar the finish with my thumb nail as a test and scratched the finish coat off. I couldn't believe it and said to my wife they couldn't have sanded between the third & fourth coats. She at that time said she thought they were in and out two quick for the job on the last coat compared to the others.I called the owner and made an appointment for him to come out. He did not show up and I called him back. It took a couple of days to get a hold of him but he was all apologetic. He made another appointment and also did not show up.After that he stopped taking my calls. In my opinion, someone who would do this has no morals or consonance. I am very sorry I ever got involved with him.I did not haggle over price. I told him what I wanted and paid him what he quoted. I did everything I could think off so this would last as long as it could because this is a very messy job. I have been holding off on redoing it because anyone that will do it right needs to take it back down to bare wood so they can guaranty it.
Description of Work: I was doing a kitchen renovation and added hardwood floors as part of the project. Since I was doing this and was going to create a mess. I thought I would also refinish the existing floors in the hall, living room & four seasons room. When I had him come out for a quote, they normally do a seal coat and two finish coats. Since I wanted this to be the last time I wanted to do this I had him price. One seal coat and three finish coats.I felt comfortable and gave him the job.

George, the young owner, was our third estimate. He was by far the most punctual, professional, and surprisingly the cheapest of the three. He said he would blend in the urine stains with a slightly darker stain (once the floors had been sanded), and could also easily get out the white paint covering our stairs. He also didn't blink when we asked him to match the patches of flooring that needed to be replaced. He and his two friends/workers estimated it would take a week (5 days) to do the entire job. The were on time and professional each time we checked in. He also let me see 3 samples of stain on the actual bare wood first before applying it to the entire room. He uses hepa-vac, dustless sanders and low VOC poly. They did an amazing job!!! And they finished a day early too! Everyone is so impressed when we show the before and after pictures. He even came back to fix any small patches we noticed once we had already paid him! He is young but has been re-finishing floors for nearly 20 years as he started working with his dad as a young boy. I would DEFINATELY use Rende flooring again!!!
Description of Work: We needed all of the hardwoods in our entire 1920 colonial to be repaired, sanded and refinished (approximately 6 rooms and a staircase). There were cat urine stains from the previous owner and there was white paint covering the staircase which needed to be stripped. We also needed patches put in as we took down a wall between two rooms.
