Aaron was responsive, punctual and personable. He looked at my home and said he was going to give me quotes for both a mini-split system and central air. The reason for the D rating is I have never heard from him again, to get the quotes, after several attempts to contact through e-mail and phone,
Description of Work: I needed a quote to install either a ductless mini-split system to cover most of the rooms in my home or central air.

Description of Work: We were provided a price quote. We did say we wanted to move forward with the job but as we looked at the quote much was left out. We tried to call back with question. The representative was at a conference an no one else could answer our questions. So we asked that we hold off and meet a second time with the representative for clarification. We scheduled a second appointment to do this. The representative contacted us 15 minutes after the start time and cancelled stating they did not like our attitude. We will not be calling them again and do not recommend doing business with a company like this. I would have expected better customer service from them.

Forced hot water baseboard system had been making weird gurgling for a week or so. Pressure relief valve had left a puddle on the floor. I called this company because of a word of mouth recommendation of a coworker who lives nearby. Also their office is extremely close to my house. I called and left a message around 8:30am and got a return call around 9 asking if it was ok for a technician to come this afternoon. We agreed on a window beginning at 1 and the tech would call when he was on his way. Heard from Wyatt at 12:45 and we met at the house at 1:00. Wyatt was neat, soft spoken and unfazed by our pets. The company truck was new looking and very neat. Asked intelligent questions as I gave him the details. Then got right to work. After about half an hour of inspection and diagnosis, he presented me with a clear written estimate that described two options, one of which included a continuing maintenance agreement, which I had mentioned earlier that I was looking for. I accepted and he got to work. In the process, Wyatt found that the valve that was supposed to restore water from the line into the boiler as needed was partially frozen and would need to be replaced. He revised the earlier accepted estimate and I approved it. He was done about 3:30. Left everything clean. Took off his shoes and walked back through my house in his socks because he didn't want his boots to dirty up the house.
Description of Work: Blead air from all four hot-water baseboard heating segments in my system. Replaced valve to provide water feed. Checked overall boiler and control systems.

The AC unit was improperly sized for the space, and impossible to replace with a smaller one. It was very noisy, and did not operate on vari-speed, as designed. They fixed the problem.
Description of Work: They fixed a major problem from a builder's fustercluck, in a completely professional manner - smart guys.

Each time the AC unit failed they came to the house and one of the technicians 'found' the problem and assured us it was fixed. Two to five days later the unit would fail. Finally a senior member of the company 'found' that there was a factory 'defect'. It took several months to get the part and put it in. When they put in the new part they left without charging the system. We were told it was fixed. When we tried to use it when the weather turned warm we found it was not charged and was not functioning. They came by several days later (we lived with 90 degree temperatures) and charged and tuned the system. Three months later the AC system has failed completely and they refuse to return to reevaluate it.
Description of Work: In completely remodeling our second floor from the studs out, Lawrence Air Systems performed the HVAC installation at the suggestion of our contractor. In part of the process they replaced a perfectly functioning central AC condenser unit with a more efficient one. Since the installation it had to be repaired 4 or 5 times, each time they told us the problem had been found. It has been over a year and it is still not fixed (no AC whatsoever presently) and they no longer will come to our home to evaluate or fix the system.

Response from LAWRENCE AIR SYSTEMS INC
Lawrence Air Systems did indeed install a new heating and cooling system at the member's home. The services were not performed for "the member" however, unless he has since changed his name or perhaps is protecting his name on this forum. The circumstances and conditions which unfolded are unfortunate and extremely frustrating. We take great pride in the work we do and how we go about doing it. “The member” purchased a home with grossly oversized heating and cooling systems. The renovation was an ideal opportunity to rectify the design and improve the efficiency as well as comfort of the home. A four ton air handler and condensing unit was removed and left with the customer (in the event parts could be salvaged for another one of their systems). A high efficiency two ton replacement system was installed with a three zone damper package for increased comfort. The installation went smoothly and accommodated the builders’ tight schedule. The system came out great and is a tremendous improvement on the old design. Two months after the job was completed we received a call that the system was not working. The homeowner was discourteous to our office staff and to the technician that arrived on site that day. The technician discovered that the auxiliary drain pan safety switch had been moved or bumped by the occupant’s house cleaner which caused it to shut down the outdoor condensing unit. We adjusted the switch, tested the system and did not charge the customer for the visit. At the beginning of the following summer we received a second call that the system was not working again. Once again “the member” was incredibly rude to both our dispatcher and service technician who arrived the following morning. Upon inspection, our technician found the filter completely blocked. The system simply had not received its annual maintenance and failed due to neglect. We replaced the filter and confirmed proper system operation. Two months later we received a third complaint that the system was not working again. After enduring another barrage of verbal abuse our technician found the outdoor condenser coil had ruptured and leaked out the system’s refrigerant. The manufacturer, York, shipped us a replacement coil the following day and informed us that this unit was part of a batch of faulty condenser coils. Our office left two messages over a week to schedule replacement. After two weeks of no response we replaced the coil at the customers house since it could be performed without entering the house. Testing and charging the system would require entry however, and a message was left to schedule an appointment. A week later “the member” called, furious and abusive once again. I took the call to spare my dispatcher and informed the customer that this disrespectful behavior was unacceptable and would not be tolerated further. He settled down and expressed his disappointment that the replacement coil had not been installed. I explained that it had been replaced but was waiting on start-up and charging. My office was then accused of lying about the coil being replaced and having left messages. He was then assured that the system had been repaired and that we would return to charge and test run the system. It was also explained that this would be that last time we would service his home due to a simple lack of respect and decency. The following spring, after using the system the remaining two months of the summer and six months of winter, our office received a call that the system wasn’t working well again. We recommended that “the member” call another contractor to perform an annual maintenance cleaning and, as previously explained, that we would no longer service his home. I completely understand the frustration this customer felt when his system failed. Each time he called we responded and were at his home within 24 hours. “the member” was not charged for any of the warranty work performed. He was charged for filter replacement and routine maintenance which he refuses to pay. We enjoy what we do here at Lawrence Air Systems. Whether it is the installation of a new system or service to an older one, we take pride in who we are, how we do things and the relationships that grow with us. My parents founded this business almost forty years ago, building relationships with integrity, respect and decency. My brothers and I would not have it any other way. It has pained us greatly to release “the member” as a customer, but we value the morale and dignity of our crew and business far more.
