I was in the market for new fireplace doors after having new logs installed by my plumber. The old brass doors didn't fit and looked so dated. I saw that Hearth & Home was going to be at the annual Home Show so I called to find out if they would have Stoll brand doors there. I was told no, but there were plenty in the showroom and they would honor their Home Show discount at the store, so I made the trip to Zelienople. The showroom is gorgeous, full of so many beautiful doors, logs and patio furniture! Amanda helped me choose the style of door, the color of glass and was so kind and helpful. She assured me they would come measure my fireplace to make sure they had perfect measurements as the door would have to be custom made since we have an odd sized opening to the firebox. True to her word an appointment was quickly set up, and I was very impressed that the gentlemen that came to measure wore booties over their shoes to keep my carpet clean...little things like that impress me that they really care! They discussed size of the "frame" around the edges and I showed them the photo from the Stoll website and they knew exactly what I needed. I knew it would be a 6-8 week wait for the Stoll folks to manufacture my doors so I got to work cleaning the fireplace face and hearth. Today the doors were installed and I am SO impressed, not only with the quality and beauty of the doors but the care with which they were installed. Again, booties were worn to keep my carpet clean and large padded cloths were laid down over my carpet to protect it as well as the doors. Every care was taken to make sure the door unit was installed exactly centered and perfect, and the glass was wiped down with cleaner when he was finished. The doors look beautiful and I have a lovely looking fireplace now instead of an eyesore! Now a little more scrubbing of the mortar on my part will make it even more outstanding looking.

Excellent. I was not able to get companies more convenient to me to either return my calls or respond to my emails. I had even filled out paperwork & picked out all of my options at another place. Guess they didn't want my business, since they never called, which was probably a blessing, since I later found some less than glowing reviews about them. Anyways...Hearth & Home was a breath of fresh air from the first moment I stepped in the door. I dealt with 5 different individuals while going through the process. All were great to deal with & knew what they were talking about & the installers treated my home as if it were their own. No one prior to Hearth & Home bothered to ask me about the history of my chimney, which could have caused serious issues down the road for me, if I had gone with the vent less gas logs I was originally planning on going with. Installation of the gas logs, and running a new gas line & electric & removal of my wood burning insert took about 7 hours, but I never once saw the guys stop working. They were also comfortable with my steeply pitched roof, which most workers have not been a fan of.
Description of Work: I had a fireplace conversion from a wood burning insert to vented gas logs.

IT took 6-8 weeks to get installed but that is what I was told when I purchased the unit. The installers did a good job and stayed late to finish it in one day. the only complaint i have is with the sales staff. I knew I was buying an older model but paying full price. then I found out items such as thermostat and a fan are options. this was never explained to me when i bought the stove. I will not deal with this distributor in the future, there are others in the area that service this brand.

I will absolutely use Hearth and Home for chimney cleaning in the future! They were very professional, prompt, and courteous. They came out at 8:30AM and were cleaning up within 45 minutes. There wasn't one spec of dirt or soot left after they had completed the work. Thank you so much for the great service!

After hearth and home came to my house to install a circuit board, ignitor and a battery pack, all which were faulty, they said that the insert was not put into the firebox and they would not touch it. I had my contractor come back out and install the firebox. After they received my complaint from the Better Business Bureau, they said that " I had to remove the complaint" and also they are not going to warrant the fireplace or any of the items that were bad to begin with, they left me an voicemail saying they "are washing their hands of the entire problem and would not give me a the faulty part replacements" Just because my contractor had built the surround wrong. My contractor never touched the circuit board where fuses kept on blowing, and the igniter that had caught fire, and the battery pack that had a wire that were all faulty parts. I'm supposed to have a 10 year warranty on these parts, and now they are not warranting anything. I tried to speak with the president of the Kozy Heat a Jim Hussong, where that fireplace was built, about one of their stores, and he didn't even have the guts to call me back himself. To me that's says a lot about a man's character and how he feels about the product that he is selling. I will never use this establishment again and warning to anyone that tries to deal with Hearth and Home in Zelienople Pennsylvania.

Our family ordered two Ironhaus fire screen doors for our home from this outfit. The doors took 8 weeks to manufacture as indicated at time of purchase. The quality of the Irouhaus products is A+ and the customer service we received from the owner, Megan Murphy, was excellent. Thank you! The reason for the overall C rating is this. The individuals that installed the $5000+ screens initially used cheap metal pipe strap. This is not an issue if the pipe straps were invisible to the naked eye. However, that was not the case and one could clearly see the straps when walking into a room or sitting on the furniture. The silver metal from the pipe straps created a stark contrast when mated up again the custom granite we had previously installed (by another firm) in the fireplace surrounds. The installers put four metal pipe straps on the dining room fireplace, two on the living room fireplace, both of which affixed to the inside of the high gloss decorative black fireplace granite walls. What a visual disappointment, sigh. When I arrived home that evening to inspect the finished product it looked like a fireplace belonging in a trailer park. We do not have Rockefeller type expectations, but I do liken the initial installation to attending a wedding in a t-s*** tux, dropped off by a pinto limo. My wife was home when the installation happened, so I feel to some extent the installers took advantage of her since she doesn’t know much in terms of construction. Not being there was also partially my fault so I do assume some degree of blame. I firmly believe to this day that although the rare contractor does exist nearly all things done right in this life have to be done yourself. Later that evening I sent an email and left a phone message to the owner, Megan. The installer promptly, to their credit, called me back the next morning to discuss. During our conversation he stated he’s been installing screens in this fashion for many years and during that period of time only one other person has complained, like we are. After fielding a few other less than satisfactory customer service replies, this particular statement offended me so much that I hit my tipping point, and with Thanksgiving coming the next day and having our entire of family over to view the tacky work firsthand, that I will admit that I lost my cool for a brief moment and used a few profanities, which in retrospect I regret since that’s not in my nature. In essence, I explained to the installer that we are not needy folks, but expect a quality product, installed to our satisfaction, and as things sit at that moment the installation was incorrect and unacceptable. After some haggling, the installer agreed to delay their first morning appointment and come to our home to correct the matter. They arrived and within a hour the matter was addressed to our satisfaction. In the end, I believe as paying customer’s issues like this should not have to be debated by the customer, and as I explained to the installers, if they would have done the job correctly the first time around, taking into account our decorative fireplace granite and hiding the straps our of plain sight, we would not have to inconvenience them or have a follow-up conversation in the first place. Our expectations are above average, we realize that, but certainly not out of this universe. My advise to anyone using this firm is this, be home when they perform the installation and if something is not to you liking make certain they correct it before leaving. When paying thousands a quality installation, and across the board A+ service should be expected.

I was very happy with the showroom staff and the installation crew. My wife and I were shown multiple units of varying prices and the sales staff was not pushing us in one direction or the other. After we placed our order all of my calls were answered or returned promptly. The unit had a lead time of 6 weeks and the office called me to schedule the installation a few weeks out from delivery. The installation was very smooth granted my existing gas line was in a perfect location for this installation so the chimney cleaning and installation took around 3 hours. The installers did a great job keeping the house clean. After the installation was complete, one of the gentlemen provided me with a demo of the unit and explained the maintenance. He also explained the "break in period" associated to the smell of a new burning unit. He stated that I should open the windows in September and let the unit run for a few hours to burn off the paint smell (this procedure was also listed in the manual). I cannot comment on the quality of the unit or the service department as this unit was installed a few months ago in the middle of the summer.

Called the office and requested someone come to our home to give us options on a woodburning fireplace. We recently bought a home with a gas fireplace and wanted to convert to wood burning with a blower. A man showed up from the company and I explained to him we wanted to be able to burn wood and asked our options. He gave me a presentation that our fireplace was a junk gas insert used in new construction homes. Told us that we were probably looking close to 10,000 once everything was said and done. We were charged $100 as a measuring fee and were told that we would receive a full estimate from the office. We never received anything from them. Not ever a follow up! We thought the price was steep so we called another fireplace company. Someone came out, told us that our fireplace was a wood burner and basically it cost us $85 to have it converted to a wood burner and an extra $100 for a blower. Hearth & Home was trying to take us for ride!!! Dont do business here.

The office worked with us over the phone, the craftsman completed the site visit, we paid 1/3 the price upfront, chose the stove we wanted in the color we needed, and needed to wait a month and a half to get on the schedule. They came at the appointed time, and did what they said. They even took us into the planning process for the shape and size of the platform that needed to be created for the cast iron stove. It was an honor to have these craftsmen here and watch them create something perfect out of nothing. They cleaned up as they worked so that we did not have to clean after them. I need to address the character of the craftsmen. They were soft spoken, polite, authoritative, and quiet. I could work in the adjoining room and concentrate on my work. But honestly, the most amazing part was the ability to watch them work - the precision of their skill was incredible. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We were advised to only deal with a company who did all the work. That was hard to find as most companies did only a part of the job. We settled on Hearth and Home from your data base. They came for a site visit, and told us exactly what they would need to do to tear out our old fireplace, run the gas line across the house from the furnace to the fireplace area, construct a platform, install a cast iron stove to heat the living room, and vent the stove out the rear through the wall. I specifically needed a way to provide heat in the home when the power went out. Ed's Woodshed from Bridgeville, PA, had also come for a site visit. He promised to send us an estimate and never did, just as the Angie's list comments said that they would do. However, Ed's Woodshed did give us the same explanation of what needed done as did Hearth and Home, for the same price. So that confirmation really helped to firm up going with Hearth and Home.

Hearth and Home did a great job in helping us pick out and install the right gas insert for our home! We spoke with them several times on the phone, and met with them in their store to pick out exactly what we wanted and to make sure it would fit in our space. As we have an older home and ran into a few quirky issues, they were extremely knowledgable about how to address the issues and guarantee the safty of the installation. They were also punctual and were able to get it installed within our timeframe. Very courteous while here and were abel to get it done within one day. Very happy!
