The contractor came on the days he was expected. He was always hard at work. He was very pleasant to work with and always kept the work area clean and orderly. He took special precautions to assure the safety of our pre-school grandchild. I love seeing the results of his work! The master bedroom and hallway look so nice. He will be returning to do 2 spare rooms and our roof. I highly recommend Faust Enterprises.
Description of Work: The contractor worked on the upstairs master bedroom and hallway. He removed drywall, put up new drywall and painted the areas.

I contacted three people through Angie's List. Clinton actually was the only one to respond. He came out a couple of days after my initial contact -- in the evening, which was great for me -- to take a look. I had his estimate within a couple of days. He gave me estimates both for doing the minor repair, as well as for installing a new door should I choose to go that way. I decided to do the repair only, and shortly after I responded to him letting him know he had the job, he contacted me to schedule the work. His estimate was for $75 but the job was easier and shorter than he had thought it would be, so he charged me only $40. He was punctual, professional, and respectful. I will definitely use him again.
Description of Work: The pneumatic closer on my old screen door had blown off in a snowstorm, taking part of the door frame with it. I contacted a few handymen looking for someone to do the needed repairs.

I contacted Clinton Faust to provide an estimate for finishing our basement into a bar/game room area. He met with us on 10.25.2010, viewed the basement, we had a discussion about what we wanted to do, and gave him a preliminary drawing with specifications. He indicated to us that he would have no problem completing the work in the time frame requested (winter 2011) and we should expect to receive an estimate in one week. On 11.5.2010 I called him asking about the estimate (since I hadn't heard anything from him) and was told I should expect the estimate the following day. Despite several voicemails since then, I still haven't heard anything from Clinton six weeks later.

Called Faust to get an estimate on 3 bathrooms we hoped to have remodeled. A contractor arrived. He was a bit condescending/rude about our choices, (which were just basic mosaic/subway tiles). He never responded or returned an estimate at all.

Clint did an outstanding job on all aspects of the kitchen. The end result is obviously what matters most, but for a large project with so many decisions, tradeoffs, things that can go wrong, etc., how you get there is almost as important. Throughout the process, Clint was easy to work with, reliable, trustworthy, and respectful. He delivered on all his commitments and was flexible to make adjustments when we changed our minds or the circumstances required it (e.g., engineer incorrectly concluded that a wall was load bearing when it was not). Clint started and finished the project on time and was skillful in managing his subcontractors. My only criticism is that it was somewhat difficult getting a hold of Clint during the estimation process (as others have pointed out below), but a little bit of patience and persistence was well worth it. A good contractor is a busy contractor, and once he knew we were serious, we had his undivided attention. We are very happy with our new kitchen and highly recommend Clint without reservation.

As with the last time, he proved himself to be reliable, predictable, trustworthy, careful, clean, and highly competent. Some arrive looking as if they dragged themselves in, give you short shrift when you ask questions, stop every now and then for a smoke, and are very difficult to pin down via phone or email... Clinton's quite the opposite. He arrives alert, with his tools and papers neat and organized, and gets right down to business, beavering away. He's also unusual in that he's quite analytical and sharp. I trust him to do the job right unattended, because he stands by his company name. In all cases, the work done was beyond what we had expected -- more sturdy, more efficient, more clean. We'll look to him in the future whenever we have a job that requires quite a bit of know-how.
Description of Work: Patch holes left after removing a latch from a door; extend/redirect an air conditioner drainage pipe which had been outputting water directly next to the foundation wall -- he combined with the gutter drain; install vertical blinds (as well as remove old vertical blinds); reinstall railings along staircase (they were previously wobbly).
It went excellent. Clinton is flexible on time of examining work needed and prompt in providing estimates, he emails the estimate, his prices are quite reasonable (I got a few quotes), the work is done perfectly well, he leaves the work area completely clean, he gets the work done promptly, he emails an invoice. He's professional and articulate and provides clear guidance on the work he's doing.
Description of Work: Clinton did a lot of work - installing a light in ceiling and the electrical to this light, work on numerous doors and a gate, installation of a deadbolt, etc.

He comes promptly to give estimates, and gives the impression of being a responsible, hardworking and quick thinker. On one occasion, while giving an estimate, he helped me put back a door which had been taken off its hinges for free. His advice upon giving an estimate is a balance of economy and doing what's good for the home, e.g. rather than re-tile a sliver of gap around a toilet, which would cost several hundred dollars, he suggested grouting it instead. Vertical blinds which we had thought were broken he took the time to adjust and fix for free, showing us that they didn't actually need replacing. He does almost all the work himself (some electrical and plumbing he subs). He takes pride in his work and is careful to lay down dropcloths (we're very picky about cleanliness). He's had seventeen years of experience. For free, he even hooked up a bathroom light (wires/screw holes were already in place) and caulked a floor transition. His rates are on par. We will consider him for more work in the future.

Clinton never put together a proposal. We made several calls to follow up to see if he was interested in the job but never returned any of the calls to state either way.
Description of Work: I contacted Faust Enterprises to do some remodeling work on our third floor. Clinton was very professional in our initial appointment and made some very good recommendations and provided us with contacts in other domains that we needed.
We had a similar experience as a previous poster. We asked Mr.Faust to come to our house and give an estimate for some work (painting the kitchen, replacing a ceiling light and replacing a floor). He did arrive promptly and took several notes and measurements regarding what we wanted. He said he would get back to us in 2 to 3 days with an estimate. After a week or so with no response, my husband called and left a message. To this day, we have not heard a word from him. We have given up and will be contacting somebody else.
We didn't use them because they were a little too expensive. He was very professional and offered us pictures of past jobs. It was all very nice.
Description of Work: They gave me a quote on some home improvement work which involved the remodeling of the ceiling in my living room. The job involved drywall, recessed lighting, painting, and electrical work.

I contacted Mr. Faust to get an estimate on repairing the winter water damage to the interior and exterior of our second story. He examined the damage on 6-16-10 and said he would email an estimate to us in a couple of days. I told Mr. Faust that I wouldn't be able to look at the estimate until 6-21 so the following week would be fine. When July rolled around without an estimate, I left Mr. Faust a voicemail requesting a callback. A week went by without an email or the promised estimate so I called again. Mr. Faust said that he and members of his crew had been ill since he inspected our damage and he had gotten behind. He also said that he had sent an email to his clients but had forgotten to include my email address. I told Mr. Faust that if our job was too small he should let us know so we could find another contractor. At this point Mr. Faust became irritated and said the job was not too small and that he would email an estimate within a few days. Three weeks later and no estimate.

From the beginning, Clinton Faust provided professional service. I had requested an estimate (to compare prices). Clinton arrived promptly at the date and time agreed upon. He was one of the few contractors who really understood the overall expectations of the project. He reviewd my requests, the materials, the room and the laabor involved. He provided a written estimate that clearly spelled out the scope of the project. I felt he offered a good price for the work that ws to be completed. I had a few questions, so we communicated via email and phone. Work began promptly on the date and time we had agreed on and once work began, Clinton was focused and efficient. It took a couple of days to complete the project and he and his team cleaned up after each day's work. Overall, I was very pleased with the professionalism and quality of work. When he was finished, the room had been completely transformed. I was very happy and would definitley use this company again.

This job was to fix damage caused by a leak, and was therefore covered by insurance. Two main reasons we went with Faust were: 1) Thoroughness of estimate. They raised issues with the repair another contractor had missed. 2) Price. Faust's estimate was higher than the insurance estimate, but not unreasonably so. We went into the process expecting to fight with both the insurance company and the contractor over price, but Faust came in close enough to the insurance estimate that we were comfortable with it. Whole project went very well. The guys were punctual, polite, and thorough in setting up their work so as to make as little mess in the house as possible (great job with tarps to protect the carpets, plastic hung to contain dust/debris, etc). The results look good, and we're happy with the company.
Description of Work: Fixed water-damaged interior walls and ceilings: Removed damaged areas, hung drywall, primed and painted, reinstalled and painted baseboards.
Mr Faust was prompt in returned my emailed request, his estimate was approximately what I was expecting, and his suggestions were spot on. At the initial estimate visit my wife forgot to include another bedroom where window damage occurred; this was later added to the job at the same pricing as the other window repairs. We met at a local do-it-yourself store to select tile and purchase a shower base and surround. Mr. Faust did not like any of the shower sets were there, but said he would pick up a set elsewhere for a similar price and would invoice me for that, along with the tile. We picked up a shower control, as well as a new ventilator for the bathroom. He suggested that we consider a different model, and the reasons he gave were valid, so we did, and saved money to boot. Mr. Faust kept us apprised of all that was going on, and when we stopped in to see how it was going, he was very good at showing us what was being worked on, as well as the problems he found. There was mold in the small master bath, and Mr. Faust spent a few days taking care of that problem. This threw off his schedule a bit, and he let us know that it would take a bit longer. We had no problems with that at all. When the final invoice showed up we were pleasantly surprised to see that the additional room did not increase the cost all that much, and that the cost of the shower and tile was well within the estimate he gave us at the home store. In fact, all tile that was not used was returned to the store for a credit, which he passed on to us. We are very pleased with the results, and would use this company again. Clinton Faust is professional and detail oriented. He found that the shower controls were not working properly, and was not going to declare the job complete until it was fixed. He actually included some value added features that were rolled into the cost such as a maintenance cutout that the original house did not have for the shower, along with shutoff valves for the shower unit. I would have no problem recommending Faust Enterprises, Inc for any remodeling or maintenance work you may need to have done.
Description of Work: Repair water damage around windows and drywall from the 2009/2010 winter ice dams in gutters. Renovate small master bath, taking into account any remediation needed for mold that may be present. Replace shower, plumb for new shower controls, replace tile floor with new tile, reinstall existing sink and commode. Paint all repaired areas. All work to be done in a home which we were getting ready to sell.

Mr. Faust is extremely knowledgable and professional. He was prompt and listened as we explained what we wanted in our basement. He told us that he would email our quote. We received the email, despite he and his helper being sick! We are still discussing if we are going to get this project completed at this time, but if we do, we are definitely considering using Mr. Faust. We were very impressed.

Clinton sounded very professional on the phone. He arrived right on time for the estimate. He was organized and on top of things. We showed him the things we needed done and he had very good ideas for some things. He said he would install a temporary shower in our basement which was not even suggested by other contractors. He said he had his laptop and could show us pictures of previous jobs. When he left, he said it would take about a week to get us an estimate. We were eager to get the estimate because we liked him and wanted to hire him to do the job. Unfortunately, we never received an estimate and it's been six weeks now. He emailed my husband about a week after we saw him and said that he'd been sick and that was why he hadn't gotten the estimate to us. We waited another week or so and my husband sent him an email asking for an update but he never responded to that message. Given Clinton's unresponsiveness, we will not hire him to do the job if/when we hear from him.
Description of Work: Clinton came to our house to give us an estimate for three things we needed done: (1) bathroom gut and remodel, (2) tear out and replace water-damaged wall in living room, and (3) install replacement windows on third floor of our house. Although he seemed very professional and organized, he never got back to us with the estimate.
Was courteous. Came promptly for an estimate within one week. Most personable of 4 groups we got estimates from. I think in the end, once he came out, he just was not the right person for these jobs, however, if I did need any sort of carpentry work, would definitely keep him on my list to call. Seemed knowledgable.

Clinton came to my home the day after I made an inquiry for an estimate. He was very polite and professional and gave good advice as to what would work best with the space we needed to fix. His estimate was quite a bit higher than the others we received so we decided to go with someone else but I was very pleased with the overall experience.
Description of Work: I requested an estimate to patch a small hole in our third-floor ceiling and paint two rooms.
My wife and I had bought a house in Pittsburgh, over 100 yrs old where our daughter is living while attending the University. We, however, live in the Cleveland, Ohio area. The house is 2 stories, with an attic that has 2 rooms. There is only one bathroom in the house. We have owned the house for 5 yrs. We had been having problems with plumbing, electrical, leaks, etc with the bathroom and needed it upgraded and thought that making a first floor half bath would be a wise decision also. We didn't have a clue on who to hire. I contacted our real estate agent in Pittsburgh and she gave me two names of people she would use. I contacted them both and never heard back. We started to look in the phone book and had no luck there. Finally, I joined Angie's List and that was the best money I have ever spent. After searching through the categories and striking out on a couple of contractors, we called Clinton Faust of Faust Enterprises, Inc. We explained what we wanted done, he arranged a day to meet us, was on time for the meeting. He listened to what we wanted done, took his measurements , and showed us pictures of work that he had done. He sent us an e-mail of his proposal for the work, the cost and approximate time frame. He had us go to our local Home Depot in Ohio, to select everything we wanted, i.e, mirror, fixtures, tub, toilet, vanities, etc. We got the SKU numbers for each item. After we had that done we set up a date to meet him in Pittsburgh at his tile wholesalers. He was waiting for us when we arrived. We went into the store, he was very patient with us as we selected the tile for the floor and tub, he made some good suggestions for us. After that he took us to the Home Depot store that he uses. At the store, he was "no nonsense" with the person we gave the SKU numbers to, made sure everything was in stock and that they would hold it for him for approximately 30 days (we needed him to start about a month later for our convenience). After that, we went to get coffee, sign the contracts and gave him 10% down. He wanted 10% at the signing of the contracts, 40% when the work was started, 40% when he grouted the tile and 10% upon completion. He gave us the starting date as the first Monday after Easter, and estimated the time to do all the work at 3-4 weeks. He picked up all the items at Home Depot and delivered them a week before starting. He was punctual each day, cleaned up each day. He used a master plumber and licensed electrician for work that required plumbing and electrical. We did not see him during the work, but got daily reports from our daughter, and gave him a key to the house. We came April 30 to see the finished projects and were blown away. Just beautiful, meticulous work. Far exceeded our expectations. We are so satisfied with Mr. Faust that asked him for an estimate to remodel the kitchen and a new front door.
Description of Work: completely gutted the upstairs bathroom to studs, added a wider door opening, rewired for electrical, new pipes for plumbing where needed, made a proper ceiling vent to the outside, ceramic tiled the shower/bath area, ceramic tiled the floor, added a new vanity, bathtub, toilet, fixtures, drywall, painted. Added a new lower half bath, consisting of a toilet and vanity. Had to frame the area out of an existing room, all new plumbing and electrical, drywall, ceramic tile the floor, door, painted, new ceiling, relocated existing water lines so would not be on an outside wall and possibly freeze.
