The Stein Group

My husband and I hired The Stein Group to clean out the basement of our house and an outside storage shed prior to an upcoming move in 2012. On a swelteringly hot July day, two men and one woman arrived exactly when they were supposed to, learned what needed to be done, and set to work. They hauled what must have been a couple of tons of stuff up the basement stairs and either set it aside to go to an auction or threw it into a big dump truck. They were efficient, polite, courteous, knew what to keep and what to toss, and got the job done in a minimum of time. Their fee was more than fair considering all they accomplished and the unbearable heat that day. They even put us in touch with an auctioneer who removed the items that had been set aside to sell. Unfortunately, we did not hire them to do our actual move because we had been told it was important to hire a mover that was licensed by the PA Public Utility Commission. After our disastrous experience with PUC-licensed Easy Moves Relocation Services, we learned that licensure by the PUC relates to rates and provides no protection to the consumer for damage caused by the moving company. With the advantage of 20/20 hindsight, we know we should have hired The Stein Group for the rest of our move. Had we done so, I would not have had to spend untold hours trying in vain to get reimbursed for damage caused by Easy Moves employees and defending myself against the countless lies the owners of Easy Moves have told about me in every complaint I have filed.
