Bartlett Tree Experts - 31114

This was for tree removal at my parent's home. I have a condominium in Philadelphia and our building has used them over the last ten years for all tree matters. So I was hesitant to use them for a (smaller) project in Harrisburg. They proved to be fantastic, responsive, polite, prompt, professional, and did an excellent job, even though it was just for one house, they treated my family like we are a priority even for a small project as important as a big condo. Will definitely use them again!

They came with a team of men and cut the tree down safely. It was a big tree higher than our house.

I used them several times throughout the year because they were doing some work on some trees and it took more than one stop to do it.

Very well. The technicians were very professional.

We've had an ongoing professional relationship with Mike at Bartlett for a few years now, and we are very happy with him. He is professional, friendly and courteous. He also is very knowledgeable about his field. We've had many trees installed recently on our property, and Mike has given us valuable guidance and instruction on how to properly care for and maintain them. He's worked with our landscaper to help us all agree on proper tree planting and care. Our landscaper has told us how much he respects and values Mike's expertise, acknowledging Mike's excellent reputation in the business. Mike arrives when promised, returns phone calls promptly, calls if he's running even a little late. Plus, he's just a nice guy. He will not make a promise he can't keep. If he isn't sure about a particular pest or treatment of any kind, he will research it. He'll take samples of trees and soil and provide results and recommendations. Unlike other tree services we've used, either Mike or the same employee(s) performs the treatments - there are no strangers arriving on our property, we recognize them immediately. Bartlett's services are a little expensive, and Mike acknowledges that. My husband and I believe it's well worth it because nowadays it's difficult to find contractors who keep their word, behave in a professional manner and are open to discussion. I indicated we spent $500 with Bartlett on our last service, but over the last few years, it's been a few thousand dollars. Money very well spent.

I spent about $400. What stood out was their professionalism, their expertise and their speed in getting problems taken care of.

We had some problems with the work at first. They came back and did what we wanted and met our expectations. They were very pleasant.

My cherry trees dropped all their leaves the end of August. I had them sprayed by another company, who took weeks to get back to me regarding the problem. Two other companies did not return my calls. Bartlett called back promptly, came as soon as they had an opening and explained the cause of the dropped leaves with a written statement. I would recommend them and plan to switch.

Their certified arborist was very responsive and came out to start a free estimate. He went over details of the recommended work as well as listening to my desires. I learned a lot from that visit. I was sent several emails with estimated work. I was able to negotiate adding in an additional bush trimming. After a major storm they were busy and I called back. They came out the very next day, a Saturday with two hard-working team members and I was impressed with the results. Anyone can cut branches, I could tell that they thought went into the work.

We have used Bartlett for tree trimming in the past at a second home that we have, and they did an excellent job. The trees they trimmed have done exceptionally well. They know just how to trim trees (and shrubs) to open them up so they grow from the inside out. Given the work they did there, we hired them to help us with mature shrubs and trees at our primary home. First, they fertilized them early spring. The difference it made was amazing. They use a proprietary mixture that duplicates what they would get if growing in the wild. The landscaping had taken a real beating over this past winter and some trees actually looked like they had died; however, after they fertilized, the trees and shrubs flourished and got lots of new growth. We are very pleased with the results and will most likely make this an annual event. Next, we had them trim all of our shrubs and trees at our primary home. They arrived as scheduled and worked the majority of the day. They are careful to trim landscaping to make it look "natural" and not like it all got a haircut. We were pleased with much of what they did, but the overall look was not what we had expected, so we called their arborist (who had worked up our original quote) to explain. He was very gracious in his response to examine the work. We subsequently got a call from the office that they would not be billing us until after they were certain we were satisfied. The arborist came out came out 5 days later and examined all of the work, made notes, made suggestions, and rescheduled his crew to come back. They arrived 4 days later and did an outstanding job! Things look very natural but not like they had just been hard trimmed. I am amazed at the skill of what they did. Why wasn't it done properly the 1st time? Well, some of it was attributable to new crew members...and our things were somewhat overgrown, so I believe they were being ultraconservative. On the original visit, the arborist gave them initial direction, but then did leave the site, so a lot was left to the discretion of the crew leader. In the end, they did what was right...came back under the direct direction of the arborist, and things were very well done. We are very pleased with the natural look, the separation of the landscaping, and overall look. They are true professionals not only on the work they had done, but their follow-up and treatment of us as a valued customer. I would highly recommend them for any tree and shrub work (including fertilization). They are probably a little higher cost than others (although we did not comparison shop), but considering the amount of landscaping and the money we have into it, the expense of doing this right is worth it. Additionally, I am not sure we would have gotten the courteous and professional treatment from any other company. Our experience with Barlett was wonderful. Their arborist, Mike, is professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and polite. Working crews were polite and hardworking. Their clean-up was excellent.

I was able to contact and schedule my appointment via email, and Bartlett's was able to send the arborist out within a few days for an estimate. The arborist actually called to let me know he was ahead of schedule, and ask if he could arrive about an hour early. Overall this was a good experience. The only strange thing was that I had stayed home from work for the estimate, and instead of giving me a print out on the spot, he emailed it to me 3 days later. Had I known this, I probably would not have stayed home. I have not yet chosen a contractor, as I am trying to get a few estimates before deciding. However, Bartlett's has been the only company (out of 3) that actually showed up as scheduled and gave me an estimate, so I have only good things to say about their professionalism.

Three tree tops were trimmed of storm damaged limbs. They did a great job. The cost of service was for dropping the limbs. I performed the cleanup. I requested the trees be trimmed before roofers came to replace shingles on my barn. One of the trees had limbs hanging over and on the barn roof that would be in the way of the roofers. Although time was tight Bartlett Tree Experts was able to accommodate my request. In addition, their tree professional Erik advised me on the health and status of other large trees near our house I had concerns with (at no charge). I will have Bartlett Tree Experts back in the Fall when there is less foliage to continue the review of my trees and come up with a plan of action for their care. I am very happy to find a tree service that has a professional arborist which can provide advice on my trees, many of which are large and near the house.

The work was completed pretty much according to schedule (with fertilization yet to be done later in season). The work was done professionally and safely. Everybody seem to know what they were doing. I have confidence in these folks. My only "beef" is what you contract for is VERY, VERY SPECIFIC ! I had two areas that I assumed would be part of the work I contracted for (a couple of limbs extending over my roof needed to be trimed back a bit and other spots in the backyard where branches were near house power lines on my property - not public powerlines). Well, no, these weren't going to be touched without my contracting for what was deemed additional work (at an additional cost). If you are contracting for tree work make sure every detail is understood between you and the tree people I guess. This isn't cheap but the trees are priceless so you must have complete confidence that you're dealing with experts. I think Eric Johnson, his crew, and Bartlett Tree are experts worthy of your confidence.

The tree and shrub work was tentatively scheduled for 4/6/2014 thru 4/26/2014 weather permitting. Also included in Phase2 is pest management which is scheduled for 7/6/2014 thru 7/26/2014. This will involve bark treatment to help suppress Japanese maple scale on three of the trees. Lastly Soil and Fertilization is scheduled for 9/21/2014 thru 10/11/2014 involving all trees and shrubs which will help correct deficiencies and improve plant health. As stated, Phase 1 & 2 were scheduled for 4/6/2014 thru 4/26/2014 depending on weather. When I did not hear from Erik by 4/24/2014 I called him and found that weather had been a factor and had back logged his entire schedule. Erik apologized and told me that he and his team would be at my house on Saturday 4/26/2014 at 8 A.M. At 8 A.M. they arrived and worked tirelessly for the next 6 hours. Erik kept Betty and me updated as they progressed. I asked Erik if they usually work on Saturday and he told me that he did not but his crew did and that he wanted to come himself and apologize for the delay and to help his men. When the men finished their work and cleaned up the entire site, Shawn and Ben asked us to come outside and inspect their accomplishments and assure them that we were satisfied with their work. We were elated with the transformation of our property. We are certain that all those who passed by during and after the job was finished took notice of the professionalism, appearance and quality of work done. Erik was not outside when we inspected the work and I asked what happened to him. Shawn and Ben told us that Erik left to be with his family because it was his son's birthday. Angie ! add A+ to your ratings because this went above and beyond.

They were on time and did good work. We had a slight problem due to the fact they missed a branch that had nearly taken out the line to our security light on the first visit. Erik came back out and confirmed the oversight. They came back out and removed the branch for no additional charge. Overall we are satisfied with their professionalism and the quality of their work.

Removed large Juniper tree at the right front corner of the house. Removed overgrown hedge from the front foundation of the house. Pruned large Ornamental Fruit Tree located in front yard. The workers spent about an hour on the job and did everything specified on the work order. They removed all the debris and shredded it on site. Very efficient workers.

My experience went very well. The staff was very professional and knowledgeable in their field. The pricing was reasonable and I was very pleased with the outcome of the service. We are continuing to use this company and would recommend them to others.

They were prompt in their service and were professional in the work of removing two trees as well as answering our questions. Will definitely use their services in the future.

They did a great job. Scheduling was good, they came out in a reasonable amount of time. They do an excellent job cleaning up after the service. They are not inexpensive but you get value for what you pay. I have used them in the past and have been very happy with their service.

The service turned out wonderful. They come out annually. We love their services and have been using them for over five years. They come out ahead of time to look at the property, they let you know what you need and what is more critical and they do not push you into a sale.

They have done a lot of work for me over the years and I have been very satisfied. In the past they have sprayed for specific diseases that I have had on the trees, tree trimming and stump grinding. Their certified arborists always seems to be responsive to my questions and if he doesn't know the answers he will find them for me. They have always done what I have asked them, their finished product has been to my liking and they do not leave a mess when they are done. Their pricing is competitive with other estimates I have received.

My next door neighbor contracted them to come out and I asked my neighbor to send to over to my house for an estimate. Once I accepted the estimate they came back a few days later. They did a perfect job cleaning up I could not even tell they were at my home.

The Arborist and his crew arrived on time; they were pleasant and efficient in their work, and utilized excellent safety strategies and equipment. Climbing around the top of a tree, 40 ft. above ground with a chain saw is not something to be done carelessly or without training. It was obvious that these men were experienced and safety conscious at all times. They cleaned up all the debris in a timely manner. The view of my garden changed within a few hours from scraggly to elegant, and I'm having them back this spring to continue improvements. I highly recommend this company to anyone with concerns about their trees. A cut in the right or wrong place can be the difference between success or disaster.

I have used Bartlett for the last 5-6 years. Eric is the most knowledgeable tree expert I know. He knows trees and bushes like the back of his hand and always takes the time to walk my yard with me, answer my questions, make recommendations, etc. Then he follows up promptly with an e-mailed quote that breaks out each activity so I can choose if I want to do some, all, or none. His crew then comes out at the scheduled time and date and knows exactly what to do based on the instructions he has given them, although they also make sure to ask me to review everything with them before they start the work. In this case, it was primarily doing post-season "clean up" of trees and bushes that I wanted to have trimmed. They did an excellent job.

Pruned my Japanese Maple Tree. Cleaned and removed dead & broken branches 1/4" diameter and larger. Excavated mulch and weed barrier fabric from the lower stem to expose the root collar.
