Dennis & Sons Roofing

Needed a roof over my upper deck. Was told specifically not to cut in my metal roof. When I looked how it was progressing, he cut into my metal roof & told me he had to for the permit. Talked with Aaron at Spring Township for permit & he never asked to put support above patio doors, instead of cutting metal roof. Aaron had no problem approving it, not cutting metal roof. Outright lied to me!!! Few years later, of course it leaked(no reputable builder would cut into a metal roof) Jesse told me he used a sealant which was bad(cracked) & did not let me know until it leaked. He did fix the roof, but ended up telling me to sue him for the damage it caused(mold & mildew down my wall below) He won't answer a text to repair...might just have to sue him... DO NOT USE HIM!! HE LIES & DOESN'T OWN UP TO DAMAGE CAUSED BY HIS WORK!!!

Great! I was really pleased they did not suggest a new roof immediately, but instead fixed the issues and told me I had about five more years til I needed a new roof. Very honest contractors!

Jonathan was extremely professional and helpful. He was very honest and thorough, and he followed up with all of my questions quickly. His company was competitive in price and the most creative. Jonathan thought of options to meet exactly what I was looking for that other companies did not think of, and he contacted suppliers to find the colors I wanted for the roofing materials. Devon was very professional, and his work looks excellent. The office manager was very polite and always got back to me. I definitely recommend Dennis & Sons as a trustworthy, quality company that will work with you to find what you want / need for your roofing.

We did not hire this firm but were impressed with Jonathan Dennis' professionalism, knowledge and detail of the work to be performed included in the quote.

They came out as promised and did the work. Then they sent us the bill which was very reasonable. We sent the payment in a bit later than we should have but Dennis was very understanding. They are the most hard-working and honest people you will ever meet. Use their services! We do, regularly.

They also gave me an estimate on some window replacements. They gave me a good price, but as it didn?t fit into my budget, I didn?t have the work done.

Thank you so much for the great work u did on our house. Our giant project was completed by a friendly and trustworthy crew with extreme care, knowledge, and professionalism. We ended up with almost a newly reconstructed entire back wall. I highly recommend this company for any work you need done on your home.

I spoke with him for quite a while on the phone as I had a lot of questions, which he answered and then he said he would go by the house to take a look and then he would get back to me with an estimate. I left him a message to let him know that the side gate would be open for him to stop by. I have not heard from him since and I find this to be very unprofessional.

It was great. I had talked to another roofer and I felt that when I talked to Mr. Dennis, he was much more thorough with his explanation. I felt that he actually knew what he was talking about and he knew how to explain it in a way where a person who was not a roofer could understand it. I thought that he did a good job of assessing the damage that was there. And in addition to that kind of assessing, what was still good is that he said my roof will last 40 years if we do these things to rectify the problem. So I thought that he was thorough and I thought that he was quick. He actually came out and do the repairs before I even was aware of it. He came over and done all the repairs and came back to follow up after we've had a heavy snow to make sure that everything was okay.

Generally it went very well. They did, however, leave a hole in the soffit after removing an old downspout. This allowed birds and squirrels into our attic, which then needed to be removed.

Notified me of the scheduled start date and arrived as scheduled. Removed old roofing, replaced several weathered plywood sheets and put on new shingles. Completed the job thoroughly in 1 day.

I received many estimates from many roofers to repair a leak in my roof. Jonathan, I assume one of the sons of Dennis and Sons, explained to me the alternatives for the repair, the different costs and the guarantees. He was very through and responsive to my direct questions. None of the other roofers gave me any alternatives for the repair. Jonathan impressed me with his directness. He came with 2 other men on the date of the appointment, did the work in a few hours and cleaned up the area well. It has been 9 months............no leaks.

Overall the job was a good one. Jonathan Dennis was fairly prompt to come out and give me a very reasonable estimate for the job, and took plenty of time to explain the considerations of my particular job that he would need to address to do the job properly. He was the only contractor I requested quotes from who went into the attic to survey the situation from the inside as well as the outside. He also responded fairly quickly to followup questions I sent through email. The job was delayed several times due to job backups from all the rain we had this season (no fault of theirs). On the first day they removed the old shingles from the entire roof and shingled most of one side, and of course, it rained buckets the next morning despite fair weather forecasts. Because they'd only covered the unshingled half of the roof with synthetic underlayment, it leaked in the attic. He and his foreman came out when i called and added some additional underlayment to stem the leakage... it would have been better in the first place to have only removed shingles from one half at a time and covered with a tarp. When he and his assistant removed the chimney flashing, they discovered that the mortar between the bricks of the chimney had decayed to the point of being very unstable and unsafe. He took photos and a video with his cell phone to show me, not just tell me it needed done, which I thought was very thoughtful. (I didn't doubt him, but it's always reassuring when a contractor thinks enough of me to show me the reason the job price would be considerably higher at the end of the day.) He gave me several options for workers who could come out on short notice, and the guy he recommended to come and rebuild the upper part of the chimney came out quickly, finished the job in a few days, and Jonathan was able to get back and finish the flashing within a week. My roof is very steep, and turned out that a ridge vent wouldn't work as the cap shingles wouldnt' remain bent at such a sharp angle, so roof vents were installed instead. The workers didn't cut big enough holes in the roof and they weren't centered under the vent placements, so Jonathan had to come back after several weeks to cut out the roof boards under the remaining 2/3 of the vent openings. While it took a while to get him back to do it, he did come back and finish even though he'd been paid in full already for the job. (Not the nightmare situation friends have had with contractors not returning once they'd been paid.) Cleanup after the job was pretty good, with no mentionable damage to the house or yard. Overall, i was quite satisfied and would use Dennis & Sons again if i needed roof work done.

I highly recommend Dennis & Sons Roofing. If you are looking to replace or repair your roof, make sure you call these guys. Jonathan "JJ" Dennis was our contact throughout. He came out for the estimate, and my wife and I were impressed with him immediately. He was knowledgeable and articulate and took the time to explain the job to us in terms we could understand. We knew almost immediately after he left that Dennis & Sons was going to be our choice. I was afraid, though, that because of how thorough he was, he was going to be out of our price range... We received many estimates for this roofing job (10?). Their quote was highly competitive. Some were ridiculously high and some were lower than Dennis & Sons, but I felt more comfortable with the work estimate he outlined and some of the extras that were going to be done to help support our chimney. They were here at 7:00 am on the day (Tuesday) they said they were going to start, and I think they could have had the job done in one day (had we not gone out to dinner and left them without access to electricity). The workers were professional and went about their business, and I could tell that they had worked together in the past and worked well together. They took care to lay out tarps and one gentlemen was cleaning up the majority of the time, so at no point was it overwhelming. They were all very efficient. They came back the next day (Wednesday) to cut the plywood and finish most of the remaining work. There was some additional chimney flashing that needed to be done However, Thursday called for heavy rain, and Jonathan himself came out that night to ensure that the areas they hadn't finished would be protected and rain-proof. Just one of the little extras that they did to ensure a job done perfectly. JJ also offered to fix a window that was installed incorrectly and had come loose...certainly not within his scope of work, but he wanted to be sure we were happy when he left. He also took a few minutes to try to help me troubleshoot my A/C unit when it stopped working. Again, not his scope of work but shows his attitude towards helping and willingness to offer his support... Our neighbors have all commented on how good the roof looks, and how respectful the workers were while working here. The project went smoother than I could have anticipated...So, competitive rates, highly knowledgeable, professional and courteous workers, and a beautiful roof that (hopefully) won't need repairing or replacing for many, many years.

Excellent roofing company. Dennis and Sons replaced our roof. It had been damaged during Hurricane Sandy. We initially were using another roofing company but felt pressured to schedule the work and we weren't ready to do that as we were still working with the insurance company. A neighbor recommended Dennis & Sons and we were glad they did. Jonathon was very professional and helpful. He sat down with us in our kitchen and explained the process of roofing and why we were most likely having a problem leak at the side of our house (other contractors had looked at it, but just weren't sure how the water was getting in). Jonathon worked with our insurance field agent and showed him all the damage that was on the roof due to the storm, not just the visible patches. Work was scheduled and completed timely. A couple of screens were damaged when the shingles were being removed. When I mentioned this, they were picked up and replaced and delivered back to me promptly. Roof looks great and our mysterious leak is gone! I highly recommend them and would use them again!

Jonathan Dennis was very professional and knowledgeable about his craft. Their pricing was fair, they were not the highest and they were not the lowest bid we received. His crew did their work very well and cleaned up afterwards. Jonathan personally came out and did the more skilled work of chimney flashing and othe flashing work. The roof was done in one day with a return vist to finish up the chimney work. He said that a cricket built by the builder was improper and recommended removing and replacing it. Jonathan himself built the new cricket and flashed it but since it was smalller needed to come back to patch the stucco on the chimney. I would not hesitate to recommend Dennis and Sons.

It went great. They were on time very professional. Job was done fast and at price.

There was a lot of damage here by the hurricane and actually he cut something. He was able to figure out something for us and that was difficult but that was a common problem. And the corner, we had someone else come out, and they didn't really know what to say, but he picked it right up. There was a leak in the garage and we didn't know what it was. He said that it bends and the water gets in there. And he replaced it with copper and it was real good material. He also had a general inspection.

We selected Dennis and Sons to replace our roofs for several reasons. Jonathan Dennis was very professional and knowledgeable about roofing. He was very enthusiastic about providing high quality and workmanship. He was happy to explain the variables regarding materials and roofing techniques. He was willing to perform the initial minor repairs so that we could wait for warmer weather in the Spring to begin the work. He provided us with a professional, detailed proposal which listed all materials to be used, as well as how the roofs, flashing, and repaired siding would be installed. This detailed proposal was very important to us. His price was fair. He paid attention to details and was attentive to the aethetics of the roof. He was very professional, honest and personable throughout the few months we were in contact. He was easy to get a hold of and quick to respond via phone or email. He encouraged us to contact him if we had any problems. We would not hesitate to use him again for roofing, siding, windows or doors.

We were impressed with Jonathan Dennis' sales presentation and didn't feel any pressure to commit to purchase. He listened to what we wanted and didn't push us to go with more expensive materials. The bid was at least $2000 less than other estimates we had received. He and his crew spent roughly three days doing all of the work (removal, installation, clean-up). The crew was professional and punctual. Cleanup was superb - no debris or old shingles remaining. The new roof looks amazing. We are so impressed with the overall experience and would willingly provide a reference if asked.

They were responsive to my request for bid, worked with me on alternative solutions. Came when they said they would, finished in a timely manner. Highly recommended

They were great. I called them up and spoke with the owner. He was very helpful and promised to get somebody out to look at the roof. He sent his son out and his son is very, very knowledgeable. I had a roof problem for years that I couldn’t figure out how to fix and this guy figured it out, gave me a price, came back couple of days later and fixed it for the price he quoted. He cleaned up everything good and the roof has not leaked since and it had been leaking for years.

Overall, they did a great job. They were the highest estimate that I got. All them highly rated by Angies list. I went with them because they had done several jobs on my street. The only negative comment that I have is that they didn't cover the air conditioning compressor and the owner of the company slent about 2 hours cleaning it out.
