The experience started out okay. The bid did not include specific amounts for materials. He requested money before the job was complete. He became defensive when I asked for a phone number of a bathtub refinisher that he arranged for. Our downstairs is covered with construction dust from a ceiling that he sanded. I spent 2 hours vacuuming and wiping down walls. While cleaning, I found drops of paint on an antique cabinet that was not covered, a drop on the wall, and on a painting that was hanging. Work is nice; but he did not show up one day and arrived late on others because "he had to stop for materials." He damaged a door during the bathroom remodel, but he refinished it. I communicated with him mostly by text, because I wanted his responses documented. I had recommended him to coworkers and friends; but, I have told them not to deal with him. The first check for materials was written on March 24 and the final check was written on April 26.
