Hi, my name is Shaun Douglass, I am born and raised in the Philadelphia area (GO EAGLES). I am a jack of all trades, there's no job too big or too small. I am very cultured, and family oriented, strong and firm believer am not treating those the way you would be treated. Also, an owner and CEO of an auto body for cars and motorcycles.

"Used Angie’s List to find them. Responded promptly and came to mow the lawn the day the said they would. They left a few areas I mowed but that wasn’t a huge deal because we had asked for biweekly service so we planned to address it when they came back. They never came back. They parked in front of my neighbors driveway and my neighbor asked them to move their truck. My neighbor said the guy cursed at him and the other one flipped him off. My neighbor was upset and said he was calling the company. I called and spoke to the lady who answers the call and told her what happened, I said, we the customer didn’t have any issues other than they didn’t provide the weeding we requested and missed a few mowing spots but the guys were nice to us but my neighbor had a issue with them and will be calling you as he feels they disrespected him. The young lady apologizes and said she will discuss this with them before they return. Fast forward two weeks, we’re expecting them to come back on Monday. They don’t show. No cal. So by Thursday I called. It rang no answer. The young lady called back and when she realized it was me hung up. Which was weird. So I called back again on Friday, now I’m going straight to VM. So am I blocked? Why would I be? So my husband calls, no answer but she calls back. My husband asks her did they block me. The young lady didn’t answer the question but said her boss was supposed to email us to say they won’t be servicing us BECAUSE OF OUR NEIGHBOR and it being a liability. What liability? Now I’m not sure what my neighbor said to them but why that would effect my service and why they wouldn’t call me to notify me is unprofessional? They showed an extreme lack of professionalism and should not penalize a paying customer for a tiff they had with a neighbor especially when they were in the wrong. You shouldn’t park in front of people’s driveway when servicing a customer. I gave them a heads up he would be calling as a courtesy because he was livid at the exchange from their employees. And they were unprofessional in their resolve and took it out on us. Don’t use this company."

Lawn tool repairs FAQs

Lawn mower repairs typically range from $40 to $90, with most people spending right around $60. However, your final total will depend on the type of lawn mower you have, the repair needed, and part availability.

Lawnmowers require seasonal maintenance to continue working correctly. With routine maintenance, you can extend its life to the fullest, which is around 10 years for push mowers and 5-8 years for riding mowers. To keep your lawn mower working correctly, you’ll want to take the following steps at least once a year:

  • Replace the spark plug

  • Change the oil

  • Drain the fuel tank

  • Clean the mowing deck (ideally, after every mow)

  • Replace the air filter

  • Check the carburetor

  • Sharpen the blades

  • Fog the engine

  • Check the tires

Before your lawn mower quits working entirely, it’ll likely give you some signs of wear and tear that indicate a repair is needed. Signs that you might need repairs to your lawn mower include:

  • Oil leaks

  • Vibrating engine

  • Smoking exhaust

  • Increase in time to mow

  • Unusual noises

  • Increase in gas consumption

If you are a skilled DIYer with experience, you can do certain lawn mower repairs yourself. However, if you’ve never worked on a lawn mower before or if your mower needs extensive repairs, it’s best to let a skilled lawn mower technician work on your machine. While it might be a little more expensive due to the cost of labor, nothing beats knowing that the job was done successfully (and often with warranties).

In many cases, it might be cheaper to repair your lawn mower than to replace it, depending on what needs to be repaired. The cost to replace a lawn mower dramatically varies, from $60 for basic models to over $15,000 for the top-of-the line models.

Small repairs like a spark plug replacement can be as little as $20, so replacing the whole lawn mower wouldn’t make much sense. However, repairing a crankshaft could be much more expensive at $500 to $900, so depending on the age of your mower, it might be best to replace it. It’s best to speak with your lawn mower repair technician to determine which option is best for you.
