JONATHAN F PERA HARDWOOD FLRS

I called JFP for an estimate to sand, stain, and refinish my 1960s white oak hardwood floors. Very receptive at first: promptly returned my initial call, scheduled a walk-through for the next day, and arrived on time. The rest of my experience left a little to be desired. The walk-through went okay (Mr. Pera is a nice guy) but it was obvious that he was not interested in the job, which I'd normally be fine with if told so upfront. I asked about a fairly popular 'grey' stain and he met that with great concern. Said he doesn't think it could be done, that he'd have to check with his supplier. I asked about refinishing a few steps leading down to the family room and he said it can't be done either because they're painted Pinewood. Okay, no problem, except I know they can be done. So we talked a bit about JFP's process and wrapped things up. Mr. Pera said he'd call me in a day or two with an estimate and information about my stain request. I got nothing. I called back a few weeks later to follow up and left a message. Mr. Pera promptly returned my call and said he left me a voicemail the next day telling me the stain I requested cannot be done. Okay, weird because I never received a call or message. I gave him the benefit of doubt. So I proceeded to tell him that it's a fairly common stain and that 'other' flooring contractors I've spoken with have done and can do the work quite easily. He clarified and said that he cannot do it. Nothing left to discuss at that point, so I thanked him for coming out and that was that. Just my experience.
