One of the other reviews here was for very similar work and the review was very satisfactory with the advice to make no extra work was done without prior approval wich is why I chose this contractor.Called and spoke to wife/secretary and explained what had happened, what I really needed done and the extra I wanted done aside from necessary repairs. She said he would call me back.I did not get a call back for 4 days, and when he did call there were children screaming in the background so couldn't hear or understand a lot of what he was saying. I kept saying and quot;I'm sorry, I'm having troub le hearing youand quot;, but he or apparently nobody in the background was trying to quiet the screaming children, nor did he offer to call back when things were quieter on his end. The entire experience was so unprofessional I would be too afraid that his work is just as unsatisfactory. I would definitely not consider using this person and will submit a review of whichever contractor I end up using.Since I know several single, divorced, or widowed women and men who are physically unable or aren't handy themselves who are always looking for a good, reliable handyman, I will pass on this information as well as submit to Angie's List.

The Pros:They completely demo'd two rooms and finished the whole job in 8 days! I was very impressed at the speed that they were able to get the work done. He got us an acrylic big tub and shower unit and a nice Kohler toilet and used Delta brush nickel for the shower and Moen brush nickel sink fixtures for the vanity. I also asked them to remove the old vinyl flooring in the kitchen and replace it with new left over vinyl flooring we had from the bathroom area, which they did. They also updated the piping from Terracotta to PVC pipe and replaced the old pipe coming from the kitchen and put in copper and a bigger drain pipe for us as well. He also replaced the pipe going to our outside faucet as well. When they were laying down the vinyl floor in the kitchen he installed a new outlet for our fridge because at the present time we had to run the cord out to the side in plain view which looked ugly. They also fixed our bedroom ceiling for us because there had been a leak in the past and the previous owner of the house never bothered to completely fix it. In the end we had two brand new rooms and some small things fixed. The Cons:However, we felt that when it came down to customizing the bathroom we had to ask him if it was ok to get a certain type of vanity and what type of lighting we could use. It just felt a little awkward when it came down to choosing what we wanted for the bathroom. I felt this was something the contractor should be upfront with us about as far as customizing our bathroom. He told us at first that he would not be doing any more work than what he wrote up in his estimate and if he did need to do more he would let us know so we could authorize it since it would cost more. We did add on our kitchen floor which we knew would increase the price which he sub-hired someone else to do and they did a great job. However, we had a support beam in our living room that was surrounded by stone mortar which I demo'd out and without asking our permission our contractor went ahead and began fixing it. At first I thought it was just going to be a free add on since I never authorized him to fix it which he in turned charged me an extra 100 bucks and never finished the job. He got it to 90% done and then wanted to charge me more money to get it to 100% and I refused to pay more than what I had in the first place. Conclusion:Overall we felt he did a quick but high quality job, in the end we are very happy with our bathroom and love it. It is probably one of the nicest home bathrooms I have every used, and definitely one of the nicest rooms in the house. Our kitchen's new vinyl looks great and we really appreciated all the hard work him and his crew put into it. I felt near the end of the job he was doing more jobs at the end to help improve his profit margin. I do appreciated the extras he did, which he did ask us about most of them before he started them, but our beam which we didn't ask him to do nor did he ask permission to start. That really frustrated us how that situation really turned out. Would I rehire him? Probably, and if I did, I would make sure that he only did the work we authorized him to do. I would suggest this to any member here on Angie's list that if you do hire Harding Construction to just make sure he does what you want him to do, but he will do it right and quickly for you. That is what I really liked about them is that they were in and out.
