Initially, Lowes said the gate (ordered in late April) would be installed in 2 weeks. ABE did come out to survey the area and retake the measurements that Lowes took. After the third week of waiting, I called both Lowes and ABE twice (each). Neither ever got back to me. After a series of screw-ups from Lowes, the gate and installation team finally got out to do the work in late August. At that point, it was discovered that they did not measure properly and we were missing 2 feet of fence. ABE initially said that a tree nearby made the full run impossible; their own people measured it and said the tree was 3 feet away from the fence and not in the way. Then their story changed to that my wife asked them to leave this section opened; not a chance. Further, a small pile of dirt that should have been removed was left, meaning instead of having a nice level fence, the fence on one side of the gate goes up on an angle (about 15 degrees) which looks like crap. I had asked the Lowes rep. about this dirt, asking if I should remove it, and was told that no, they would get it. However, this may be lack of communication on Lowes' part. Regardless, the final straw was they appear to have ordered a gate that swung inwards, when I requested on that went outwards. When I mentioned this, I was told it was no problem, they would just hang it the other way. What no one told me, and what I was not at home to observe, is that they left the latch on the same side of the gate, so now people in the alley have an easier time opening my gate then I do.

This was an insurance job due to damage from Hurricane Sandy. It was a long ordeal for us dealing w/the insurance co and then the mortgage co. The mortgage co took control of the funds and were extremely difficult to deal with. ABE was very patient with the process. They gave me an estimate....and then they had to wait a VERY long time for us to pay them so work could be started. This was due to the mortgage co's release of the funds. I dealt mostly with Steven Seas. Due to the damage caused by a 45 foot tree falling and destroying our fiberglass pool----the process was lengthy....first the tree had to be removed, then the pool, then the hole filled with dirt and the yard basically evened out with soil. It was a muddy, messy process. I kept in touch with Steven w/our apologies for the length of the time between the estimate and the actual work. Finally we were able to give the check to ABE so that supplies could be ordered and work started. The men were courteous, worked hard---and ABE even sent a double crew in order to get the work done before a snow storm hit. We were very impressed! Removed the fence one day, poured cement another day---finished on the third day! One spot (under a double gate) there is an abundance of dirt mounded which caused the gates to be installed and quot;unevenlyand quot;......ABE (Steven Seas) has agreed in the spring when we have the yard regraded---that they will come out and hand the gates more evenly. I thought they did a good job, were fast and responsive to my many calls and emails.

I had a terrible experience with this company. They didn't seem to really care at all about the job they were doing. I asked them to show me some examples, but they couldn't. He would drop things off in the driveway and then leave. They were very messy and I wouldn't not use them for sure.

They were very professional and helpful. When their first attempt didn't work out (this was an odd size gate) they figured out an alternative latch. They were originally scheduled to come sooner, but because of snow they were delayed. They called promptly to let me know, and then called after the installation was done to make sure everything was how I wanted it. The reason I gave them a "B" on price is that I don't really have any basis for comparison. The bulk of the cost was the installation. The latch itself was only a few dollars.
