 + -1 moreOVERALL, the work was good with shady ethics. GET A CONTRACT! The pros were work done well. Chris was on time for the estimate and job. He returned calls quickly. He also promptly sent Danny back when I called about the deck. Tony and Danny are hard workers and do nice work. Chris double checked work on his own and did a final walk-through with me. The cons were that Chris is a ''wheeler-dealer''. For the estimate, he went very quickly through the list he made during our walk-through and gave verbal prices. He stated ''I don't do contracts'' and had me sign his list. He did not give me a copy. While working, I overheard him say ''I have to go drop off a contract''. WHICH IS IT???? Without one I thought things were on his list that weren't. ALSO, a section of my perennial flower garden was decimated. Pointing it out, Chris said only ''guilty as charged''. He did not offer to replace it and had the nerve to charge me an extra $100 for washing and staining a very small side deck.
Description of Work: Chris gave me a list of the work performed, which was porch ceiling repair, fixing of wires, joining of crown molding, painting of ceiling and parts of trim, new latch and closure with safety spring (door), fixing of walls in first floor bath ad paint spot, goose neck for shower and attached shower heads, fixing falling boards, terminating plaster on brick second floor with corner bead, adding outlet to previous wire, matching color on bath casing repair, repairing ran/outlet in the office, fixing an outlet on the wall, replacing a roof on porch/kitchen, and power washing decks and painting them. What I THOUGHT was included was repair inside of the porch/kitchen where it was leaking (I wanted it fixed, he said I needed new roof but didn't include fixing the leaky spot). I also thought terminating plaster on other brick was included (I wanted it done). I pointed these out to Tony on the last day, and he completed them (Chris was sure to point out they were not included but a ''bonus'').

He inquired about a lot of other, bothersome home maintenance issues, e.g., gutters, leaking faucets, to make sure he could take care of any problems I was having. It wasn't a sell job. He's very aware of his Angie's List reputation and following. Chris called the day before the job was scheduled to tell me when he'd be at my house. He showed up on time and the work was completed to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: Small area patching & painting, hanging wooden blinds (2 sets), fixing an under cabinet puck light, hanging a new mailbox, adjusting and tightening front door hinges.

 + 1 moreChris came out for the estimate, and his was lower than the other we received. He seemed knowledgeable, and he scheduled me for a couple of weeks later. He called me out to look at the French drain to show me the problem. He rerouted the gutter and capped off the drain. The problems were corrected. I think that he investigated the leaf guard and advised us to watch where the water was going. It was nice and helpful that he took a look around in order to give us preventative advice.
Description of Work: I needed a gutter rerouted away from our French drain following our home inspector's report, and some lights in the driveway replaced. We were real happy, and would definitely use him again.

Description of Work: They fixed a commode in a rental property. They fixed a dishwasher and a downspout on the same trip. This winter, I had a broken pipe in the basement, and he came out at 10:30 pm to fix it, within a half an hour of my call.

 + -1 moreHe's a very nice person. He told me he would pick up my A/C at the store when it arrived, and he picked up the slab for my garbage/ recycling bin. He gave me a satisfactory estimate. He was on time, and he called before coming. Cost includes some materials as well as labor.
Description of Work: He hung pictures for me and put a holder on the porch for my hose. He put up a bar on the porch wall to hang rakes and shovels. He also put up a stone slab for my garbage can and recycling bin, and he will be back in May to put in an air conditioner. It was so cold the day he came that we decided to wait until May to do more.

Description of Work: Chris has done so much work for us. We moved into a house where the previous owners had paneled over glass block windows in the living room. Chris removed the paneling and cleaned the glass block windows. They are great and allow so much light into the living room now. He also has fixed our shower to stop water leaks, fixed some vents in attic, and repaired some light fixtures.

He was very thorough and double checked all the different aspects of the system - even offered to clean the lint out of the dryer itself since that is a fire hazard. I was very impressed.

My wife was home while he did the work and she called me several times at work and put me on the phone with Chris to clarify that what he was doing was as directed. I thought the price was a bit high for the time and materials actually spent on the job, but maybe I'm just not accustomed to plumbing charges.
Description of Work: Replaced two valves in the basement, two shower valve stems and two bathtub valves stems. Stopped all the leaking coming from those fixtures.

Additionally, the work site was entirely cleaned upon completion with all debris put in the trash. Lastly, he capped a pre-existing sewer vent that was located under the kitchen floor which I did not even know existed. He did this free of charge. I look forward to using him again for some roofing work.
Description of Work: Insulated crawl space under kitchen area, also added extra heating run and vent to kitchen floor. Installed extra support with concrete footers under kitchen floor.

They cleaned up and removed the old materials. I was especially happy when he leveled the washing machine since I didn't ask him to do this. I would definitely hire Chris again.
Description of Work: Removed old stationary tub, hoses and pipes. Installed new tub, faucets and set up washing machine so hose did not drain into stationary tub and leveled the washing machine so it didn't ''walk''.

They cleaned up, took the old sink, vanity and wall valet with them to recycle at constructing Junction. Put the bagged trash on the porch. I was very happy with the finished product and would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: Installed new bathroom sink, vanity, mirror, light fixture and wall valet. Hung 3 new towel rods, installed new 4 plug electrical outlet, replaced hinges on 2 doors, hung paper towel holder and installed new floor cove. Patched and painted where necessary.
