In April, this provider re-built part of our wooden deck, to eliminate a water problem in the garage below the deck. He removed boards over the side of the garage where there was water damage to the ceiling, installed a new waterproof membrane, and replaced the deck boards. Some of the boards needed to be replaced, which he did. They were left unfinished until the weather got dryer. On June 3 two workers returned to tighten some screws and pound flush some nails holding down the boards, cleaned the deck (we had scrubbed it a few days earlier), and then stained the entire deck. He also re-installed some boards edging the deck, and painted them.
Description of Work: He completed work re-furbishing our deck.

Everything went great. There have been a few storms with heavy rain and I haven't had one single leak. The bathroom looks amazing. The paint job was very neat. There wasn't any paint anywhere it shouldn't have been. I wanted to hug the gentleman when he told me that he tightened up the exhaust fan and caulked the tub!
Description of Work: Chris Jackson's Contracting replaced the roof shingles. He said to wait for a good rain to check for leaks and to contact him if I was satisfied so the bathroom could be repaired. The gentleman tightened the exhaust fan, painted, caulked the window and tub.

It went fabulous. These guys are great. They did have to come back after the door levers were installed because they weren't latching correctly. Not something they did wrong, but I appreciate the responsiveness in correcting the issue of the door not lining up correctly. Anything and everything they have ever done for us has been great. I have dealt with contractors before and sometimes they are not as good as promised to be. However, I am very, very, very pleased with Chris and his crew. I had no issues with leaving this company in my home. They work very well together, we are very pleased with this company and the price we paid for the job.
Description of Work: They fixed several doors that were not closing properly. They replaced all door knobs with lever hardware. and then painted every door in the house(17), then installed a roof vent, repaired the other roof vent that was making noise. They also installed backslash on three walls in the kitchen. They hung a very long curtain rod in the dinning room.

Very smooth. The crew arrived first thing both mornings, and worked steadily. They were very professional. Thety cleaned up thoroughly when they were done.
Description of Work: Repaired garage ceiling that had been water-damaged: some sections of plaster board had fallen down, and others were mildewed. The crew removed about a third of the ceiling, replaced it with new material, and applied a textured plaster coat (that matched the rest of the ceiling). Two days later they returned and painted the entire garage ceiling.

They did an excellent job! (again)! I am writing this review for my Mom, since she doesn't have an account. I have hired Chris myself, as you can see in my reviews. She her house started developing very bad cracks in the walls, due to foundation shifting. I refered her to Chris. She called and he came out right away. He scheduled the work to be done, and they were there when they were supposed to be. They moved the furniture, patched and painted all of the cracks (one of which was a HUGE bubbly crack that I thought could never be flat again - it is perfect!) They returned all of the furniture and put the curtains back up for me (thank you!). She did call Chris because she wasn't satisfied with one of the patches (out of 6), and they came out the next day and fixed it. They left no mess, they were very clean, polite and buisness-like. She would (as would I - and I did!) highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you again, Chris. You guys are awesome! :)

Even though Mr.Jackson did not do any work for me,I felt I had to take a moment to write this review. After many calls and e- mails to various handymen and no returns messages, you all know what I'm talking about, Mr. Jackson called back but on the same day! I realize how busy people are, (I work 50 or more hours weeks sometimes) but just an e-mail to say sorry I'm swamped, or I don' t service that area, which is what Mr.Jackson told me meant a lot. He also took a moment to give me a name of someone who could do the work in my area! I cannot attest to the quality of his work, but I feel I can attest to the quality of his integrity. If I could of hired him, I would have in a heartbeat!

Dear [Removed Member Name]. It's Saturday morning on the weekend that signals the unofficial beginning of summer, and what a nice surprise to read your well written response to a simple phone call returned. This is the age of communication and I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments. Would it not be great if other contractors understood as we do, that we are hired servants and should act accordingly. Jesus said we should treat others the way we want them to treat us. This is my rule, therefore I am glad to see that it was well pleasing in your hearing. We sincerely thank you for taking time to up hold our record of serving humanity, and in this case with a simple practice that speaks volumes of importance. May this report set the tone this summer for others who will take to the public pen and chime in. Fair thee well and Godspeed. sincerely,Chris
Chris and his crew did an amazing job for a very reasonable price. We are not in the least bit handy and have a tendency to let things go. The initial job was to fix the bathroom leak which was caused by the toilet not being set properly. This resulted in a drip into the laundry room that gradually turned into a down pour every time the toilet was flushed. When Chris came to the house to give an estimate I found him to be honest and liked him immediately. I started asking if he could fix the leak, the floor, and the rest of the bathroom. Then I moved on to the pantry door that no one could get to stay in place and had fallen off. After that, it was the storm door that Home Depot charged $25 to come out and measure, but then said they could not install it, but never explained the reason. Then it was half a dozen other little things that we needed done. Well, they were wonderful. All of the work was done in a reasonable time and it all looked great. I have had many compliments on the bathroom and storm door. The greatest part was not having water dripping on me from the ceiling in the laundry room. Having a working doorbell after ten or so years was pretty cool too. Such a little thing, but that was something they just did without my asking. These guys were also very good about cleaning everything when they were finished. We didn't have anything to do except enjoy the improvements. Needless to say, I would recommend Chris and his crew to do a wide range of repairs and improvements. We have a long list of things that still need done, and I hope they are available over the summer to come back for the next round.
Description of Work: Install storm door, clean gutters and nail them back up, hang pantry door, install light fixture, repaired a major leak in the bathroom, painted the bathroom, replaced bathroom floor, fixed the doorbell, replaced the fixtures and medicine cabinet

Work was done in a timely way. Contractor behaved in a professional and courteous manner. He was very persuasive in convincing me to change the downspout design to his specifications, despite my suggestions of what I thought would be more effective. He mainly suggested that I need to cut down the tree in front of my house in order to not have leaves accumulate in the gutters (!!). After the initial installation in the fall of 2013, in the spring of 2014 it was clear that the gutters were overflowing again. I tried to clean out the downspout, but the way it had been installed, it was impossible to clear from the top or pull gunk out of the bottom, as the outflow was directed very close to the surface of the lower gutter. Chris came out promptly when called about the issue. He reiterated his belief that the main way to keep the gutter clear was to take down the tree. He did not wish to revert to my earlier suggestion of a fix (putting up a higher splash guard on the lower gutter, preferring to take apart the rivets in the elongated downspout to clean it out and putting it back together. He apologized for the lack of downspout efficiency, but maintained that it would never work as I wanted. By late summer 2014 I was dealing with the issue by putting a rain barrel to catch what was gushing over despite his cleaning and fix. It is now spring 2015 and I am having the same gutter problems. I finally had another contractor take off the extender I never really wanted and had a splash guard built where the water flowed into the gutter to stop it from splashing over. This was the fix I had initially wanted and pointed out other neighbors who had done this. Chris insisted on NOT doing this and I threw away a lot of time and money.

Thank you for taking time to report on our services even thought it falls short of painting the whole picture of the malady at hand. Chris insisted in not doing what you recommended because the problem is and has been a blocked gutter, packed full of decomposing debris. This is due to a tree that over arches the house and spills its discharge all over the roof. This is a condition which requires frequent roof and gutter cleaning, something the customer is not doing with a fair degree of regularity. He wrote this report in which he made a valiant effort to be fair and balanced, but obviously has yet to see that when the lower gutter simply clogs again, due to a fore mentioned reasons, it will spill over or around his makeshift "fix". Removing my elongated downspout off the roof, it is now causing a flooding of the area with water from the second level and will cause premature failure of the porch roof. Putting a higher shield on the lower gutter, to prevent over flow is not correcting the problem. Simply put, If the lower gutter is not flowing due to being clogged, sooner or later it will spill over the shield. It never ceases to amaze me how some home owners will do anything but their own maintenance and when the bottom falls out of their house they blame the contractor who tried to school them in the process of home stewardship 101. Even his wife told me that she cleaned out the gutter and when I went to check it out the second time, a year later, at no additional charge, it was clogged, on the first and second level. Customer was told to get " bird cages " and install them in the down tubes, but I bet this did not happen either. Perhaps when this "fix" is upstaged by the unending shedding from above, the customer may listen to the voice of reason, realize the error of their ways, get the offending tree trimmed rather than hugging and worshiping it, they will then change this report to reflect a more accurate account of the issues, with an apologetic attitude. Angie despite reports like this,I still love your list!

I am in the process of selling my house, and I had a list of items that needed to be repaired per my realtor's recommendation. I got in touch with Mr. Jackson through Angie's List. He replied right away and scheduled a time to come by to give me an estimate. He arrived promptly, both for the estimate and to do the work. He explained things clearly and was very professional. The work was exceptional. I now have a potential buyer, and her inspection report doesn't mention any of the items Chris repaired, so his work definitely met even a picky inspector's expectations.

I contacted Chris for a quote to fix our ceiling after the upstairs plumbing leaked. Chris showed up, took some measurements then sat down with us to go over the costs. He was personable, and right on budget for us. My husband and I both said we wanted to go with him the second he walked out the door. Not only did his team fix the ceiling, but they also replaced another pipe that the home warranty company did not replace because it wasn't' "broken". It only made sense to replace the old copper plumbing while the ceiling was already ripped out. It was completed in a day, and the painters he sent the next day couldn't have been more kind and professional. They were in and out in less than 2 hours, leaving no mess behind. At first, Chris stated he wouldn't get to us until December, but he did end up getting us in right before Thanksgiving. Being an expectant parent, around the holiday's, this was much appreciated. It was one last thing for us to worry about when trying to prepare the home for a newborn. I will definitely use Chris and his team for future jobs. Thank you!

Gave an estimate twice as high as others and once we got over the shock stated that we were young and must not have been "burned yet". Thanks for taking time to respond . Yes, I am from New England originally and most people like our blunt frankness and honesty. Though you may perceive it as arrogance, it is anything but. I am in the service industry and that makes me a servant. I and my five guys named "Moe", have and will continue to serve the Pittsburgh market with our talent on loan from God with alacrity and grace. Judging from the record most people are applying for sainthood. You and your husband however, all you have to offer in exchange for my free time and attention to your project, is an unthankful attitude and an injurious report. Perhaps soon you will be burned chasing price only and then after the sweetness of low price wears off you will part with some more of your hard earned dollars to hire someone with not only charisma, but the experience and integrity to do it for the price it is worth. Cheaper is not what we are all about. You are confusing Angie's list with the penny saver. Father forgive them for they know not what they do!
