On a Sunday afternoon about a week or so before Chaz and his crew were set to start the work, we had a mid-afternoon heavy rain storm. I was at the rental property painting and Chaz was home with his family, but as soon as it started raining hard, he jumped into his truck and raced over to my rental property. He did this because he wanted to see first hand how the water was getting into the basement. He stood there in the rain and watched how the gutters were overflowing and pouring onto the sidewalk and thus, into the basement. We learned that the gutters weren't clogged, just designed and hung poorly. There wasn't enough fall for the water to flow to the downspout. Also, water was coming off the hillside and flowing right up against the house. Chaz and his crew dug a trench along the back of the house and down the side. In the back at the foot of the hillside they installed a french drain. This drain was attached to a pipe that ran the length of the house. To fix the gutter problem, a gutter on the back of the house was re-hung and a downspout was added. Then, all the downspouts were connected to this pipe and the water from the roof and the hillside was carried away from the house. They also dugout and installed window corregated steel windo wells. Then all along the side of the house, they regraded the topsoil to "swale" the landscape away from the house. Lastly, they replaced portions of the sidewalk that they had to dig up and also replaced the ones that they did not disturb but still needed to be replaced because they were crumbling. Chaz and his crew were polite, prompt and professional. Even with it being 90 degrees plus, the job took only two and a half days. These guys never complained nor did they let the heat slow them down. Needless to say, I would recommend Henderson & Company to anyone with irrigation or water proplems. They were awesome.
