Advanced Basement Solutions

First the salesman came with samples of the products they would use to do the french drain. They came promptly when scheduled. The guys covered everything in the basement. They jack hammered the outside perimeter of our basement/garage. The work was done in the 2 days they said it would take. They removed all the debris and cleaned up after finishing. Only surprise was they could not get under the hot water tank so it had to be moved. (Ours was of an age that we needed a new one so that is what we did). We were pleased with the job.

My husband and I contacted Advanced Basement Solutions to provide an estimate to repair a crack in our basement wall as well as perform repairs to the French drain system that was not working correctly resulting in the crack. We just had recently bought the house and wanted to get the basement repaired before the winter weather set in. Due to the decent sized crack in the wall, the lady scheduling the appointment scheduled an appointment for us two weeks out as they were going to send their most qualified person out to look at the job since, in her words, "it could get complicated". I provided the lady with all the requested details as well as a description of where the property was located. I did specifically ask if where the house was located would be an issue as I did not know at the time that they advertise "serving all of western pa" and she responded that it would not be a problem. Come the day of the appointment, my husband and I waited over two hours for them before finally making the phone call to them. After inquiring as to where the technician was, the lady placed me on hold for quite some time and then came back telling me that they don't service the Rimersburg area. As I specifically had asked them on my initial call about this, I was furious. First of all, they had two weeks to determine if I was in their service area to call me back and inform me of any issues or problems in making the visit. Secondly, the last time I checked Rimersburg certainly is in western PA. At minimum, they could have had the decency to apologize. The lady on the phone wouldn't even admit that they had done anything wrong. Completely unprofessional and irresponsible!

Wow. I am stunned by how great my experience was with this company. I was having problems with damp walls, paint bubbling, and slight mold in a corner of my basement. It looked really horrible and I thought for sure it would be a big job. Called ABS and scheduled an estimate for the next day. They gave me a one hour time window and arrived right on time. After examining the problem, they told me that it was not nearly as bad as it looked. They figured out that it is a problem with the drain pipe under the downspout in that corner of the house. They told me I did not need their services, and advised me to call a plumber to fix the pipe and then call a painter to scrape & repaint the walls. Gave me advice on what sorts of products the painting company should/should not use. No charge. And the guy was super nice and professional. I would definitely recommend them to others!

Put in a french drain in the basement and a sump pump (back up battery)and clean the walls. They did a good job.

They crew they sent arrived about 8:30 am, they started right away seemed vey nice. However, after digging for the sump pumps they found out they could not do this job since our house has no footer. They had dug holes in two places. Upon giving us this news they said they would be going to get cement & come back to fill holes. . This job was now cancelled. I called the company and was told I would still owe them $500. I later called back to speak to the owner explaining I didn't think I should pay for this since the job was cancelled. She told me the men still had to be paid, they had to charge for truck use & gas. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If a company can't do the job then they don't get paid. I wonder how many times they have done this. I'm now out $500 for nothing. My complaint isn't with the crew or the estimate to do the job. It's the fee they charged me when they should have paid the crew themselves.

ABS was terrific. They came promptly for the estimate, didn't try to oversell, and scheduled me promptly. The estimate was given right then and there, and much more reasonable than the competitor. . They were done early and cleaned up well. Very pleased with them and will use them for another project in the near future.

It was 16 piers because our garage is settling and going down over a hill and their quote was $17,000. One of the things I really liked about Bill Hoi, that was the name of the president of the company that came out, I think he sensed that I was stunned when he quoted the price and he said, 'Well, I can give you the name of the structural engineer who would be able to advice you.' That was really good of him because I did contact the structural engineer and he was extremely good. He was kind of nice but he was more concerned about me than he was in terms of making a buck. We ended up going with the recommendation from the structural engineer who's name is Randy Exley, we went with an A1 Foundation and Concrete Repair and it's not just an issue of the pairing and the listing of the garage, there was also an issue of a lot of concrete so it was nice to have one company do all of that which he obviously is not in the position of doing.

I really appreciated the honesty of this company. They let me know they couldn't handle my situation and didn't try to sell me other products/services instead.

The experience was excellent. At this time we need to figure out exactly where the water is coming in at (it could be a drain issue), so we have to wait and see, but we would definitely use Advanced Basement Solutions in the future. They were great to work with - responsive, punctual and very professional. Excellent customer service - thank you!

The appointment went well. I ended up choosing Bakers waterproofing. It was a newer type of interior drainage system and only one (1) sump pump was required and with all the rain we had this system performed flawlessly.

Workman came shortly after the earliest arrival time that we were given and got right to work. Was pleasant, efficient, and cleaned up after himself. We had a heavy rain the week after and a good amount of the water seems to now be appropriately draining out onto the street instead of sitting in the yard and making the basement damp. While the mold spray seemed to help there are a few areas where it didn't hit and so we need to spray again. It would also be helpful to have guidance for what to do after the spray has dried. Overall a good experience.

The crew arrived on time per our discussions. The started work right away with 3 guys. One area I was concerned about was how much drywall would have to be cut in the finished portion of the work but they did a great job keeping the cut low and damage to a minimum. I am able to use my existing trim with a bit of quarter round to mask the work. There was no damage to my carpet in this area and I was able to stretch it back into place. I covered and draped the room heavily but the dust was very minimal and the clean up was as expected. By the end of the day there were 4 guys there and they completed the work in one day when the original estimate stated a possible two. A win for both of us. We had only minor leak problems prior to the install but the work is an great insurance policy that the finished basement will not be damaged. The only minor issue we had was the crew smoked in our garage (it was raining). None of the smell remained however. All in all a great job.

Some of the staff were courteous, others were not. I think the workers of Advanced Basement Solutions rushed the job and messed up my house a little bit but they rectified any problems that I had so I'm happy with the service overall. I would recommend them because their price was hundreds or even thousands below their competition. They were a lot cheaper than other companies. In the end, I was satisfied with their work.

The people they sent out were fantastic. They were very educated, skilled and nice to talk with.

Bill showed up exactly on time. He was friendly and personable. Best of all, he did not try to sell me on services that I did not need. As it turned out, the dampness issues were addressable though simple exterior drainage modifications that I could do myself. Bill tested the water content in my basement walls using an electronic meter and found that the problem was much less worse than I imagined. In the areas where dampness was present, he provided simple and direct solutions without ever trying to pressure the sale of his services. He also advised that the protruding cinderblocks were nothing to be concerned about and a natural consequence of my front stoop (directly above) settling a bit. If I need basement waterproofing services in the future I will not hestitate in calling this company again.

From beginning to end, Advanced Basement Solutions did a fantastic job. From the start, the sales rep who arrived at my home was not only friendly and professional, but also extremely knowledgeable with his job. The fact that you could tell he believed in the product he was selling helped sell me, but not as much as his patience in answering all of my questions as well as backing up his "sales pitch" by showing certificates of appreciation his company had been awarded, to explaining the strengths of using THEIR workers, all the way down to comparing their quality materials against what the competition may use. The actual contractors that worked on my home showed up on time and were extremely polite, courteous, and informative. The work was done in an efficient amount of time and left me with ending results I was more than happy with. The price that was quoted to me was the price that I paid and although it wasn't the cheapest quote that I received, it also wasn't the highest, but it was a price I felt was more than fair for the time, effort, and professionalism that Advanced Basement Solutions displayed.

The office staff was friendly and responsive. As this was a straightforward job they gave me an estimate over the phone. They were prompt in scheduling the work and the two person crew arrived as scheduled. While they knew how to install the battery backup equipment the workers were unable to answer a few basic questions about the unit. Their workmanship was fine, but unfortunately, they did not reinstall a check valve on the discharge side of the pump, which meant most of the water pumped from the sump simply flowed back into the sump after the short pump cycle. I had to call the company to point this problem out to them. The office was very responsive and had someone come out and install the check valve within a week. It appears the crew did not have a check valve for the size discharge pipe in place so they simply left it out.

The person who quoted the job told me that my stairs and heater would not need to be moved to complete the work. Wasn't the case but they worked with me to get the job completed without too much additional work.

The company was great to work with. The estimate was good. The office staff were wonderful. The work performed was great and done in a timely manner. I have no water problems in my basement since I had them perform the work. I would highly recommend them!

Bill Hoey, company President, arrived promptly and examined our basement. He quickly determined the issue to just be condensation. He took time to explain what the issue was and what we needed to do. Unfortunately his company does not deal with this issue but he took time to be very informative. There was no charge. Bravo, A+++++

It was the first time I had used them. They came out and gave me a good price. They didn't pressure me afterwords. They were very organized and neat. They didn't leave a mess. They got the job done within 2 days.

The problem was an underground room next to the garage and under the front porch. The cinder block wall was leaking during rainy periods and the room stayed damp most of the time. The outer wall was also slowly bowing inward. ABS came out to evaluate the problem and immediately described a solution and gave a time and $ estimate. The work was scheduled to begin 10 days later. ABS was on time as scheduled, completed the work in a timely manner, and left the room neat and clean. The estimated price was fair and exactly what we paid. We are pleased.

Obtained their name through Angie's List. Highly rated. Price was much cheaper than competitor. Work was done in a day and a half. The job was a bit more than they expected because they had to dig a bit deeper. No extra charge. Approximately 72 feet of french drain installed. Sump pump below floor level. Workers were pleasant. We had to change schedule at the last minute and they were very accommodating. Believe they delivered a very good product at a very good price.
