Advanced Basement Solutions

I contacted Advanced Basement Solutions, requesting an assessment on a basement. (We're projected to close on the house in a few weeks.) Our desired end-state was to simply reduce water/moisture so as to make the basement suitable for storage. Estimate was provided by Chris W. I couldn't have asked for a better / more honest assessment. From my (uninformed) perspective, the basement was in need of significant renovation----french drains, thicker concrete floor, etc. Chris informed us that such a massive effort wasn't necessary------a good paint-job followed by installation of a good de-humidifier would meet our needs. BOTTOM LINE: Here is another straight-A report endorsing their professional, straight-shooting service.

DO NOT USE this company, they will NOT stand behind their guarantee. My basement never got water in it before but my back wall was bowed I wanted to prevent it from further shifting, so that I could finish my basement. Now five months laters my newly finished basement is soaking wet and growing mold. When I called about the problem they took a week to send someone out, and all that man could tell me was that the owner was on vacation and that he can't make these kinds of decisions so I'll have to wait another week for the owner to get back. Almost two weeks go by and finally a women calls me to sent up another appointment for the owner to come out and look at my water problem for a week later. So a month from when I original called about this problem the owner comes out, very arrogent, doesn't really even act interest, and says "This is not are problem." He was at my house for about maybe five minutes. So now not only do I have to tear out my newly finished basement, I am also responsible for the framing, drywall, insulation, underlayment, flooring, labor, and now I have to pay to have my basement waterproofed again. I have already contacted an attorney and I am suing them, so you can tack on attorney fee's to my list of added expenses. Please DO NOT use this company.

The price was right. The people were nice. They did the job well. I can only say good things about them. They were timely and cleanly.

I am unhappy with their service. They did my basement a couple of years ago and they did a good job but now I am having a problem with my garage. I called them up and when the technician came out to look at it he kept making excuses that it had nothing to do with the job they did. I understood that this was a separate job and I was happy to pay him for the second job but he was so brusk with me that I am going to use someone else. On the first job they did such a good job and they were very clean. Their original price was comparable and they were punctual. However I had a problem with their followup and I will not use them again.

I used them because of a flyer I got in the mail. They said there was nothing wrong with the basement.

Due to our water system we had to coordinate with our water treatment person because our equipment had to be moved and our water disconnected during the work. They were on time and able to quickly finish the section affecting our water system first and used a quick drying concrete so that our water could be turned back on and hooked back up the very next morning. We haven't had problems with moisture in the areas that they worked on so overall I was very pleased with the service.

Estimate process went fine, a very pleasent company

ABS was prompt and professional in the initial call. The salesman had examples of the products they use that allowed me to see the very good quality of the materials. He was thorough in his description, and in follow-up calls he was quickly responsive and professional. They were willing to integrate their work with other contractors (plumber, concrete). Coordination of schedules was easy to arrange. The work team arrived promptly and worked quickly. They hung plastic sheeting along the area in which they were working to reduce the amount of dust outside the work area. Initially there was one two-person crew; in the afternoon a second crew arrived. The work was completed in a single day. They removed all of the demolished slab and debris, and left the area broom clean. When the garage floor was being poured the next day, the salesman came by to confirm that the slab pour would not disrupt the waterproofing work. I appreciated this extra effort to make sure everything went well. An ABS work team had to come back to complete the radon sealing; that team was also timely and quick. There were 3 areas that caused me to mark down quality and professionalism, and as a result the overall experience: (1) at some point during the jackhammering process they bent one of my water supply pipes. (The pipe still functions; it is just bent.) (2) When they removed the plastic they had blue-taped to the ceiling they tore off patches of paint and part of the drywall paper in 10 spots. I wish they had taken more time, and peeled the tape more carefully. (3) The contract specified that they would use concrete to patch the floor, but instead of concrete they used sand mix. The salesman subsequently told me that I should expect it to crack. There hasn't yet been a hard rain since the work was completed, but I have no doubt that the waterproofing will be effective. I was very pleased by their price. They were also very easy to work with. I just wish they had taken a bit more care when doing the work. If you are having waterproofing work done, I strongly recommend that you consider ABS.

They did good work. I would recommend them to others.

Everything was fantastic. They arrived when they said they would arrive and they had the requisite number of personnel to do the work. They came with basically two crews. They worked hard to get everything done quickly. They were very knowledgeable and did not leave any garbage behind. Their prices were very competitive. They were easy and flexible to work with and I highly recommend them.

They did advise us that we did not need to move forward with the project, so we did not end up needing to hire them. We appreciate that they were honest with us.

They were really good and I was having some leaks in my basement and I had them come and take a look at it.

We called; they came when they said they would, inspected the damage and told us that, unfortunately, they were not able to repair our wall and suggested a company that would be able to, and we have hired that company to do the work.

They were very nice but we ended up not doing the work. I believe the man that came out was the owner and he was very nice. The quote was fair and if we do decide to do the work we will go with them. He called back immediately.

The representative came out for an estimate. He made suggestions appropriate for the project and offered options. His honest assessment of the conditions and possible remedies was appreciated. The workmen arrived on time. They were courteous and professional. They worked steadily and finished the entire job as initially agreed. They performed quality work. All of our contacts with office staff were equally professional, courteous, and timely. We would definitely recommend Advanced Basement Solutions because of the reasonable cost, workmanship, timeliness and the quality or their work.

The quality was okay but the man didn't explain a lot of things. When I looked at it after they had done the work, I realized how it was going to be. I can only go so far when I pull into my garage. They did a decent job but basically it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I had a couple of questions before they did the job and they didn't respond so I had to call back.

The job was estimated at 2 days it stretched to 5 days, a sewage line was broken which they repaired. Omitted from estimate was electrical receptacles, which were not provide , extension cords were used as a substitute till I contacted an electrician. These were the "bumps" in the job. After all these were taken care of, the basement is dry, workers were cordial answered all my questions and I am satisfied with the results. I would have gladly paid extra for them to supply the outlets or would have had it done before the job started had I known this up front. This delayed the finished job another week. Whether this was an omission on my part or theirs you can decide.

As noted above, the experience was very good.

The initial call was greeted courteously. They visited promptly to estimate the cost and the extent of the job. Three weeks later, the crew arrived and set to work. The job was completed in 7 hours and the clean up was perfect.

Bill found the problem was the downspout and probably back-up of water, which would be a plumber problem. He would have record of all this at the office. Shortly after, his office had called confirming all of this.

I ended up choosing them for the job. We are going to be gone in July and it took a little while for me to get back to them. The estimate was about $2000. I decided to go with them because of the overall combination of professionalism, expertise and knowledge. Chris was the guy that came out. He was really nice. He explained everything. He told me that I probably did not have to install such a system and I could get away with making sure the gutters are clean. One of the problems was that I had a gutter which was clogged and the water was slowly trickling down. He told me to get one of those screens for the gutters and have them installed. He told me that it would certainly prevent major flooding in my basement. It’s like a backup system and if anything happens and water accumulates, I wouldn’t have to open up the walls again and rebuild them. He was very honest and upfront about it which I appreciated. The price was very good. He would take care of the demolition, cleaning up the stuff and installing the pump and the pipes which is why I ended up picking them.

They were very nice and polite. After they finished, they even came back out to make sure all of the water was removed.

My overall experience was very postive! I had been noticing mildew stains (and smells) on the floor of my storage room so I call Advanced Basement just to make sure that I wasn't dealing with something "big". Chris showed up on time. I showed him the areas of concern and he assessed the situation quickly and with confidence. He was friendly and honest and I would highly recommend Advanced Basement Solutions to others. Bonus: The staff is great too! Efficient and friendly.

They guy that came to talk to me was very helpful. He explained everything that was going on in a way that I could easily understan. I was very satified with their work.

We had a lot of water coming down the basement steps and under the basement door, and water damage on one wall. We had three waterproofing companies come out. The first two said the same thing - french drain as the water damage on the wall was due to seepage, and a grate outside the door to deal with the water coming in.In fact as both quotes were so similar that I almost called to cancel advanced basement solutions, but I'm so glad I didn't! Chris came out to look at the job, and immediately pointed out the water damage on the wall was not seepage (as the damage would be worse at the bottom instead of the middle of the wall where the plaster was crumbling), and said we could easily fix it ourselves with drylok paint - a much cheaper option! Overall he was the most knowledgeable, suggesting an exterior drain with sump pump instead, which would cost $1000 less than the previous quotes! He also took the time to explain what he suggested and why. On the actual day of work the guys came when they had arranged, were professional, polite, clean, and finished as predicted. Its been almost a month, and even with some heavy storms, not a single drop of rain came in under the door, and the basement is definitely a lot drier and less musty. I am very pleased with the job, and would definitely use them again. Thanks for the great work!
