J D Landscaping

I called the number provided here (and on his website). He simply answered 'Hello'. I had to ask if it was indeed JD Landscaping and he said yes. I briefly told him where I was calling from and what I needed done since I asked him if he was driving (I really thought I had the wrong number by the sounds of the call). And he said pretty quickly I should call someone else as he's too busy. I responded I got his number from Angie's List and he sort of sighed and said 'if you can't find someone else give me a call back and I'll see what I can do but it won't be fore several months." I'm having a dog containment fence put in next week and simply wanted someone to mow some high weeds and brush that are around the area the underground wire is to be placed and where the dogs will be. I had a lot of it cut down last week by a handyman that simply doesn't mow and he told me to find someone to finish that part of the job. I thought it would be easy! I'll keep looking! We're new to Pittsburgh and have to say much of the reception we've gotten has been a lot like this!

My neighbor and I contacted John in May about removing some trees that were on our property line. He originally scheduled this job for June but because of emergency work due to the heavy storms we'd had in June, he delayed it until July, which was agreeable with . His crew showed up and worked all day until the trees were felled and our yards were cleaned. During his lunch break, my other next door neighbor asked if he would give her a price for cutting down a large branch that overhung her shed. John took his chainsaw over and cut the branch down for her on the spot. My neighbor thought he was just going to give her an estimate and was surprised John offered to cut the branch right then at a very reasonable price. The clean-up afterwards was professional and thorough. Outside of three overgrown trees missing from my front yard, no one would ever know John and his crew were there. This is the second time we've used JD Landscaping and I would never hesitate to recommend them to anyone. They are professional in every way and offer excellent value for your money.

Never heard from company

John and his crew showed up early in the morning and kept at it all day. They left the yard as clean as it was before they came. He also cut down a limb for my neighbor that was overhanging their storage shed. This is the second time we've used JD and we have been more than pleased each time. He does quality work at a reasonable price. The only problem is John is usually scheduled one to two months in advance.

Received four bids and John's was competitive, informative and in writing. Indicated when he came over for the quote that he would be unable to do the job for at least 4-6 weeks which was not a problem (waited this long...what was a few weeks!) He and his crew arrived when scheduled and completed the job the same day. At the end he walked me threw the whole property to make sure everything was OK, and fixed one area with the mulch. Very happy, and very glad I selected John for the job!

My cat was stuck in the tree. It was being to storm horribly! I called John, within 15 minutes he was here. He could not reach the cat but had a associate come to get her down. Not only did he take the time to find someone to help me, but he waited till she was down safe. John will be doing tree removal for me in the fall, and at that time I will be writing another POSITIVE review. He is our HERO !

They have only come three times and they have come on their assigned days. So I really don’t have a lot of experience but they come to my neighborhood at least once a week. I was pricing out companies and I got a couple of estimates that were hugely expensive so I ended up getting lawn cutting, and doing the flowerbed myself. They gave me the most reasonable ongoing rates for my lawn. They did a really good job. I did get some price from them for cleaning out and doing some reseeding and he told me he could just charge me $150 for that but I could just go get seeds and throw some moss every now and do it myself, so I thought that is what I was going to do. He was honest with my alternatives, and me, which was a good thing. I am satisfied with them up until now. It was pouring rain here and they were waiting for the rain to stop to cut my grass, which I thought, was kind of odd but my daughter told them not to cut the grass in the rain and so they left. I have a pretty large backyard, I have a fence and some people will not cut my grass because they were not able to get the riding mower through the gate but these guys used a larger version of a push-mower to do it, so they at least did that.

We asked them to clean up our garden beds in the spring (March 2012) and then return in the summer to create a small garden bed. The first job cost $800. The second job cost $600. For the first job, they arrived with a crew and a truck loaded with mulch. After several hours of work, the beds were transformed. They hauled away the garden waste and left the beds looking terrific. For the second job, two men arrived who dug a small garden bed in my lawn after consulting with me and planted two small evergreen shrubs and several perennials. Both times, they arrived when they said they would and were polite and professional.

John met with us about our original plan. Then he arrived on the day he promised. He always returned my emails and phone calls. We wanted a certain type of mulch and he agreed with our decision. He spent a day and a half on our property. His crew was mannerly and worked very hard following John's supervision closely. John and I discuss at length what we wanted as the end product. John and I went together to a nursery to choose the plants and he listened to what I wanted but supervised the final decision. I found his direction to be very methodical and he respected my input. They first cleaned up the beds, trimming, pruning, and weeding. After the plants were chosen, they carefully placed them and asked for our opinion of where we wanted them and which placement was best for each plant. All cuttings were cleaned up, the mulch was placed 2" deep, and then they made sure all was neatly swept. We will hire John again and refer him to our neighbors.

We own two properties. My husband injured his foot and can't mow the lawns this summer and I had 2 back surgeries and not able to do it either. We're under pressure to find lawn care for two properties. I've called no fewer than a dozen places and I'm not getting calls returned. I acknowledge that many companies are at capacity and might not be able to add more customers, but it would be nice if they'd return the call. John's return call distinguished him from the others. The owner, John Dulak, was very responsive. He met with me at my house and gave me the estimate in person, exactly when he said he would, and the price was very fair for the large amount of work that needed to be done. He kept in touch with me while we scheduled the work, and he and his crew arrived promptly on the date and time they were scheduled. They completed all of the work I asked for: cut out massive quantities of overgrown ivy, removed the ivy from my house, gutters, and fences, trimmed and pruned shrubs and trees where needed, mulched the front and side planting beds, and applied Preen weed treatment to the planting beds to inhibit weeds. They hauled away a great deal of the yard waste and left my small front and side yard areas (at the sidewalks) spotless. The cleanup of my backyard, where most of the heavy work was needed, wasn't quite as thorough as I would have liked in the planting beds and along the hedge area, but I followed up with John about that and was satisfied with his response. I would hire this company again, and I recommend them for very good and professional work.

They do great work! I would highly recommend them.

The work was scheduled and performed as we agreed; it was great to see it all done with no mess, ready for me to do what I needed. I was very satisfied with this service.

John is very professional, prompt, friendly, and took great care in making sure he understood what I wanted done. After we agreed on the scope of the projects, John explained everything that he would be doing and the time frame. He gave me several options and prices as I first thought I would do some of the work myself. I opted not to do that and he completed all the work on time. He did a great job. He's coming back in the spring to do some work on the front lawn and front yard flower beds.

I was satisfied with their work. They responded quickly. They got back to me and gave me a quote fast. They were efficient. They had a good price.

He came when he said he would, did the work as the 'deal' required and planted lots of bulbs. He cleaned up after everything and completed the work in a timely fashion. I was so satisfied with the work that I want to get an estimate for further work, which we discussed. I will contact him in the Spring.

I contacted John about my dogwood tree. He came the next day to look at it and called me right away. He explained everything to me concerning the best time and how much you trim a dogwood. When it was time for it to be trimmed he called and set up a date. He is very prompt and courtious and does a wonderful job. The tree looks great and everything was cleaned up. The cost was the same as his estimate to me. I highly reccomend this company and will be calling him again in the spring for some landscaping work.

John and his crew provided clear estimates for the work they were asked to provide, and took the job seriously. When the crew appeared, they went well beyond the requirements of the job and provided services which were both thorough and thoughtful. On the first day of the scheduled work, the entire crew was suffering from colds/flu, which fif not interfere with the quality of quantity of the work they did in the least. The cleanup was good and they trimmed all the brush and trees as agreed and more. On a subsequent visit to provide some grading, John, the owner, did the work on his own. He did the job for which he was contracted and the service was both timely and thorough. All in all, the company provided a good deal of work for a very nominal price. We will definitely use this company again for the same or other work in the Spring and Fall of the coming year.

John came out and spent a lot of time drawing and planning for our landscaping. I changed my mind several times in the process and he was very accommodating. He and 2 other guys arrived on time the day of our installation and worked to complete it in one day. I don't even think they took a lunch break! His bid of $3500 came in so much cheaper than others. We had been quoted $8000 for the work he completed by a different company. The yard looks fantastic and I will be using him again in the future.

John and his crew arrived every Thursday, weather permitting. On those few occasions when Mother Nature was uncooperative, they were there bright and early Friday morning. I have been more impressed than words can say about the overall quality of the work they perform compared to the fee that I am charged and compared to the service that my neighbors receive from other companies. Each and every week my yard was cut in a different pattern which I know is very good for the quality of the turf. They even do my favorite, the diagonal path, which I think looks marvelous! They trim the property thoroughly. When they arrived a couple weeks ago, they mulched the leaves on my property, gathered them up and took them away. My township charges $50 for this service alone and that is after I have had to rake them to the curb! The fact that JD Landscaping did it as part of their routine made me speechless. If you are looking for someone to take care of your yard as if it were their own, I highly recommend John Dulak and JD Landscaping!

This went quite well. They were easy to schedule, came when they said they would, pretty much cleaned up after themselves, accommodated some special request we had, and got a decent amount of work done. Some minor glitches with not putting as much mulch in certain areas as we would have liked and not getting to the backyard (spent all of our time in the front). Good work - I can recommend them.

John and his crew are responsible. They use rider mowers to cut the lawn quickly. John is accessible by cell phone, even when out of town. I like the way they do their billing, so we don't have to be home when they are providing their lawn cutting service. Very professional. John is very dependable and does what he promises. Did a nice job in the trimming.

Great experience overall, John was professional and extremely helpful and patient when picking out plants. His employees were also very professional, the day the work was performed was extremely hot and they finished on time. All old mulch and dirt was removed, sidewalks and driveway cleaned. 100% satisfied with the services provided by J.D. Landscaping and would highly recommend them.

The crew of two men and a "foreman" arrived on time (calling 15 minutes prior to arrival to say they were on their way). I had purchased the mulch and had it ready for them prior to their arrival. I walked around describing the various items I wanted done and John (I'm sorry I think that was his name-I"m terrible at names) listened and asked questions. His guys got started and worked the entire day. I have 15 flower beds that range from 2'x3' to 20'x4' and they all had to be cleared of weeds, old plants, last year's mulch and debris. I have an invisible fence that borders the beds around the house and they had to be careful to edge the beds by hand as to not risk cutting the wire. John stayed for most of the day, helping the guys, but he did leave for just a short time. they ate out by their truck for 30 minutes and then got right back to work. He assisted them by digging up the front border and hauling the dirt and debris away in his truck. I had to leave at 2:30pm, but they stayed and finished up the work after I left. The job was done completely and all the debris was taken away when they left. They were polite, kind, helpful and professional. the work would have taken days for me or family to do. The money was money well spent. My entire yard was done for the summer in one day! While they worked, I was outside planting flowers in the pots around my patio. I'll probably do it this way from now on.

These guys showed up pretty much on time (I had told them that on this particular occasion, punctuality would not be an issue). They went right to work and never stopped until I brought out a pitcher of ice water and some glasses - it was one of those humid, 90 degree+ days. They hustled. I told them where I wanted the lilacs and boxwood and, other than positioning the peach tree, I left it up to John to arrange the flower bed - he is the professional and I liked what he did. This fall, I'll put in some bulbs on my own. I felt totally at ease with them. They were professional but friendly and courteous and WILL be hired again later this summer. Even when the "Boss Man" had to leave to pick up topsoil and multch, the 3 workers never missed a beat. I am DEFINITELY John and his crew again!!
