Signature Heating, Air Conditioning and Geothermal

Our heat pump went during the cold weather so timing was critical. I contacted two HVAC companies. One which I had worked with in the past and Signature which I found on Angie's list. Both companies responded promptly. The first contractor came to my home and was very knowledgeable. In the case of Signature, Bob Gress, the company founder responded. Bob has many years of experience in the industry and it was obvious in our discussions. He explained in detail the various options I had and what was involved. Once I decided that I wanted gas heat Bob facilitated my contacting PECO and expediting the timing of their work which was extremely helpful. In terms of price, Bob's estimate was lower but that was not the deciding factor for me. I felt comfortable that Bob would stay in touch with my installation and that proved to be true. His team was absolutely outstanding. The entire process was completed in advance of my expectations which was important since we were without heat. I intend to use Signature for my HVAC needs in the future.

Scott was very professional and informative. He showed pictures of the damage and explained what all costs would be as well as options. He was also respective of our time constraints and hustled to get the job done ASAP.

This company replaced my heaters air conditioners and hot water heater in two days.They did an awesome job the work was done with precision and care they answered all my questions and concerns and explained why their instal process is better than the competition. I interviewed five hvac companies and looked at every persons house I knew that recently got new units.My one neighbor had used Signature and I was amazed at what a neat job they did.I don't want to bore you with to much technical stuff but after one month of research in making my decision I can tell you I am very happy with my choice. I compared Train ,Carrier, Luxair,Lennox and Daikin ,although the salesman can sell you any brand you want you have to decide.i chose daikin after much research.Some companies don't carry Daikin so they will tell you Daikin is goodman and goodman is junk goodman is just a budget brand which is middle of the road which all companies have good better and best models ,although Dakin bought goodman the heat exchangers are made differently. they also own Ammana. Carrier brand is the most expensive and their top of the line heater is made by Daikin specifications it turns out most parts of an air conditioner are made from the same few companies.When you have different brands that have modulating gas valves and fan motors and the exact same ratings in btus and seer ratings how much better can one company be from the other??all the people I talked to said it comes down to the install they said you can even buy budget brands and they can last as long as top of the line products you just won't save as much on your bills .Also with the thousands of dollars I saved choosing Signature I was able to upgrade to A better filter system and the best thermostats and humidifiers and still came in at thousands of dollars less than the other guys. All in all I have looked at the fit and Finnish of the big brands with comparable specs and i am happy with my choice

Very happy with the new system! Bob is very knowledgeable and listened to what I wanted for my home-- a system that is energy efficient with lower carbon footprint. I discussed with him and looked into the options of installing a geothermal or air-source heat pump system, and decided to go with air-source heat pump due to some potentially issues on well-drilling in my yard. The installation was meticulous and neat.

Follow up Review: My earlier review prompted a quick response from the service provider. Brad, the operation manager at Signature heating called and made all efforts to make things right. He arranged for one of the company's technician (Scott) to take a look at my HVAC unit. Scott was knowledgeable and courteous and answered all my questions. He replaced capacitor of the HVAC unit as it was apparently reading low. I was told both by Scott and Brad that cost of replacing the capacitor is a $150 value and they would not be charging me for it due to missed/delayed follow up. While I appreciate the gesture and the efforts made to make this right, I would rate them B at this time. Original Review: Very irresposible approach to scheduling and following up with customers who bought their Angie's list deal. I purchased my $20 Heating or Cooling Diagnostic Service Call on June 5th. I received an email on the 6th promising someone from their office would call soon to setup an appointment. A week later, there has been no further calls or follow ups. If I can't trust them with $20 service call, I wouldn't trust them with a more expensive, involved home maintenance issue.

6/11/14 We had someone come in and spend over 90 minutes with us and seemed very knowledgeable but we never received an actual estimate. We were contacted to see if he could come back with a second person but we were not available that evening so the sale man said he would contact us again but he never did which is why I suppose they could not provide an estimate. We are very interested in a system but at this point will not use Signture which is a shame because I was hoping to use a local small business. Update 6/12/14- Owner of the business did contact us about this issue, he was very nice and offered us several options. Appreciate his concern and integrity. We will be giving him a call to discuss the options. Updating rating from an F to a C at this point because of his response.

Bob Gress, owner and estimator, was probably one of the most knowledgeable people we spoke with about geothermal. We were very comfortable with him and he took the time to explain in detail everything that was involved with a geothermal installation. He answered all of our questions, and was a true professional. He provided a list of references that was extensive and covered quite a large amount of geothermal installations. This was very important to us and helped us decide to move forward with our installation. Everyone we spoke to on the reference list was very satisfied with Signature and the work they performed. In the end, we choose another company, but Bob and his team made our decision extremely, extremely difficult! I would definitely feel comfortable recommending Bob to my family and friends!

Overall great company.. Very professional. Scott helped me find a new AC unit that would work with the size of my house and heater. He came out and took measurements and matched a unit that would work for us. The new AC unit is great and perfect for us or should I say my dogs. They did a great job leveling off the area for the new unit and it looks a lot better than our previous unit. They were here from 730-3 roughly and went over everything they did and even added a nice bin to put all the paperwork in and saved us from another flooded room since the pump for the AC unit was broke and would flood out room. We had no idea what was causing it! Also I had 4 other companies out since I owned my house and they told me that I didn't have a filter for my unit but that was a lie and signature showed me we did. I highly recommend them.

Scott was very professional and knowledgable about the work he was performing on the unit. He explained everything he was doing and provided some helpful tips on maximizing the efficiency of my unit. Although I bought the yearly service plan, I appreciated that Scott did not make me feel like I was being forced into buying it. I would recommend your company and Scott to others and would use both the company and Scott again.

Leo the service mechanic arrived on time, courteous and not bothered by me watching over his shoulder and asking questions. I was hesitant at first to divulge that the unit is 14 years old and has never had (needed) any work performed on it since installation, for fear that something would be "found". Everything checked out OK, no "needed" parts or repairs were required. He did mention that these units (York) were good and the installers did a good job, but to be aware that the average life is nearing and to please consider Signature Heating & Air Conditioning when needed. I will. Another plus for both Le and Signature is that he made sure to put on "booties" so as not to track in outside mud when going between the equipment inside and outside my home (it was a raining day). When the time comes, I will ask Signature to give me an estimate for either AC or the heating unit. Also in phone calls with the office to set up the appointment, I found the secretary there to be just as friendly and courteous.

I purchased the tune-up deal from Angie's List. The contractor called and set up the appointment. The service person arrived a little late, but called to tell me. He was professional and did a good job.

Les not only answered all my questions, he properly installed the thermostat, which the previous owner had mounted incorrectly and I was too afraid I'd break if I attempted to fix it on my own. He pointed out several things which were not installed properly, as well as several things I'd been doing correctly. There was discussion regarding add-on's, but there was no high-pressure sales pitch to buy anything or sign up for the yearly maintenance plan, which I appreciated. They had a credit card swiper which was also greatly appreciated, and the receipt was e-mailed to me immediately. Overall I was extremely happy with Signature and will call them again in the future as problems arise!

The front office was courteous and the Technician, Leo, was very professional and friendly and he arrived as scheduled. These inspections were thorough. The technician was here for over 2 hours. Leo explained everything, performed all the basic maintenance tasks, made recommendations, and resolved some minor issues he found. I received a technical report on each unit when the job was complete. I purchased a special deal AC tune up for $49 which is a very good price. I have a 2nd AC unit and a gas furnace which I wanted tuned up and inspected as well. The price for the second AC unit was $79 which is also a discounted price, and the price for the furnace was $120 which I believe is the regular price. All together I had 3 units thoroughly inspected, maintained, and tuned up for $248. I looked at several providers and $248 for 3 units is a good price.

If there was an A+ rating, I would use it! I turned the job of hiring a HVAC company over to my husband, I don't speak/understand HVAC very well. He called many companies. He had a few he narrowed down. Signature was one in the running. I reminded him we had Angie's List, go there and see what you find. My husband seemed happy when he saw Signature on Angie's List. He had been speaking with Brad, from Signature prior to using Angie's List, felt comfortable with Brad's honesty and Brad answered all his questions. I then read Signature's reviews and set up a time for him to come out to house to look at job. We had purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for 2,399.00 to replace A/C. Brad answered all of my questions at the appointment and always answered emails and questions for little details that came up. Today the job was completed by John and John, I stayed home while the work was completed. These guys are A + also! They respected my home, shoe covers, turned lights off, closed doors. They completed work in and outside my home.as stated by the contract. Answered all my questions, as my upstairs unit was being serviced and they found some issues. I was explained options and possible costs, and was helped with a temporary solution. When we decide which route we are going, Signature will do the next job at our home. I would request John and John if possible. Signature is excellent, and extremely easy to deal with. I have had 4 new homes, repaired and replaced HVAC , this was by far the best contractor I have worked with! I have been known to be picky. Thanks, Brad, John, and John!

Excellent. This was my first time using this company, I had bee suspicious of my previous co not doing a good job. They blew the other company out of the water. He was here a couple of hours, did a thorough job, and explained every step. I could not be happier with the service.

Leo was extremely helpful and thorough. Highly recommended. There were some scheduling issues initially, but they were handled very professionally.

Prior to installing our Geo Thermal heating and cooling system - we vetted ~5 heating and cooling providers in the area. Not only were we the most comfortable with Signature, they provided the best price. Win-Win. We really were impressed with Bob's level of expertise and the suggestions / ideas he brought to the table to improve the overall heating and cooling design of our house. The installation was painless. We were impressed with the techs and they very professional. After receiving our first few cycles of power bills, we have seen significant savings as promised. Would highly recommend these guys for anyone seriously considering Geo Thermal.

They are really good. I thought very expensive, but they were good. They came out. They are very clean. They did a good job. I think they are very well qualified people. They were very knowledgeable. They seem to know what was going on. I did think the price is pretty high, but I would use them again.

Leo arrived exactly on time and was extremely competent and professional and performed everything needed.
