SHADY TREE INC

First we went through no shows and no return phone calls, then after we hired someone else we found out he had personal issues which we understood and said we would have waited. The new guys couldn’t take down 1 of the 2 trees so we called Shady Tree back. He said he would get back to me that afternoon, but didn’t. They showed up the next day around 3:00 with no advance notice saying they had a couple hours after another job like a bull in a China shop and rapidly started cutting, they pulled our Xfinity cable off our house, destroyed our compost bin and the stone wall behind it, one of the guys apologized for the cable but the owner shrugged off everything else. Came back the next day when he said it would be the following day and cut down the rest of the tree, leaving the cut wood where it fell as well as the sawdust everywhere. They then approached my husband, who was on a ladder try to fix what they disconnected asking to get paid. We paid them but would never recommend them to anyone. No respect for peoples property and actually condescending at times. He originally said we wouldn’t have to be here when they did the work, I can’t imagine what damage we would have found if we hadn’t been here. We paid him in full but would never use them again or recommend them.

They were prompt and reasonably priced.

The company was very responsive on the phone and scheduled the job for the next day. First, they evaluated the trees around the house and gave recommendations on what should be done. It pretty much coincided with what we had in mind. The crew arrived on time and did the job well. The only thing I didn't quite like was that the guys trimmed the branches quickly, but the logs were sitting there for a few days. I even had to call them to remind them about it. They did not forget, I guess they had their own system of doing things. Another thing is that they left a lot of dry branches that got stuck in the shrubs and smaller trees. I found them later when I came closer and had to pull them down by myself.

We’ve had a mixed experience with them. The guy was hard to get hold of and he didn’t always respond and I didn’t like that he would show up when we were ready for him. The work was inconsistent and he did some work that we didn’t like. In general, some things were fine but I questioned some of his decisions. He would take down some limbs but leave others poking over the house. It was an odd experience and we probably won’t use him again.

Called in the AM for an estimate, he showed up within an hour and provided a very competitive price. He started the job in the early evening and finished it the next morning before 10:00AM. Discussed ideas for additional planting and provided us with some great ideas.

The work was done in two half quarter days. They head guy is very experienced. They were very good at what they did. We had a little bit of a misunderstanding but I wasn t serious.
