+ 1 moreMy appointment was for 1pm. Glen Layton, owner of Jack of All Trades Inc arrived on time with a friendly smile and handshake. He proceeded to gather his equipment for the chimney inspection, etc., then covered his shoes, and laid down a tarp to protect my home. He completed all of the work as promised in the Big Deal on Angie's list. Glen was very knowledgeable, and professional. I felt very comfortable with him. He answered all of my questions, and showed a genuine respect for me as a consumer, and customer. I highly recommend this service provider and will use his services annually. + 1 moreI called the office and received immediate response from Mr. Layton. I was in a time crunch to have the chimney cap before the settlement of the sale of my house. Mr. Layton came out to my house the same day the call was made. Reviewed the situation and determined the fix. The chimney chase cover had to be special order and he ordered the part before leaving my house. The part came in the following week and Mr. Layton made another special trip out to my house two days before settlement and made the replacement. Mr. Layton was extremely professional and definitely cares about his clients to make the extra effort even though he was extremely busy. I wish I had found "Jack of ALL Trades, Inc. long before I moved out of the West Chester area, because he would definitely be hired by me again.

+ 1 moreGlen was great. Showed up early after calling to confirm that was OK. Highly professional, and easy to talk to. Hooked us up with a really friendly and professional guy who did the actual work. I was sick as a dog for two of the days and the guy was really polite and respectful. He did an excellent job. He was really flexible when we asked for a few more jobs to be completed, which we were happy to pay for. Best advice I can give for working with these folks; they are excellent and professional, don't be a high maintenance main line tool with these guys and they will treat these guys right.
Description of Work: Worked on some trim, hung some doors, replaced a cracked tile, and replaced the back screen door.

I had been worried that it had been a number of years since my chimney had been cleaned. I took advantage of Angie's Big Deal and was very pleased with the outcome. Glen was very punctual and professional. He was protective of my floors and furniture. Fortunately, my chimney wasn't in as bad shape as I thought but Glen did a thorough cleaning and even fixed my flue which was off its track. I appreciated his advice and suggestions for taking care of my fireplace and other issues with my home. I would certainly use him in the future!

+ -1 moreGlen and his assistant were punctual, friendly and very thorough in prep and keeping things clean. They completed a chimney cleaning and inspection in less than 30 minutes. They ran the cleaning brush up the chimney from inside several times and then he looked up the chimney with a light and mirror. I'm not an expert and it's been years since we had a house with just a wood burning fireplace but I was honestly expecting a little more out of the service. Again, I'm not an expert and the fireplace could have been in really good shape and only needed the amount of service he completed. We did ask him to quote other future work for us which we have not acted on yet. We did not use the fireplace this year which would have really tested the status of the fireplace but for now we're satisfied with the service Glen provided.

I didn't read the fine print, and the big deal was just for a chimney sweep, and I have an insert in my fire place, and so I paid extra for that. I didn't mind it though, because he cleaned it, and did a good job. He was very kind, efficient, and did a good job. My husband was here and he helped them with the insert. They are a local company, and I would use them again.

I was very pleased with the service. The lady who works in their office has a terrific personality and is prompt to contact you and provide information as requested. The gentleman who came to my home seemed experienced and knowledgeable and was very personable, as well. I really have no complaints. I will definitely use them again.

Description of Work: I purchased the Angie's List Big Deal for chimney sweeping for $79. Within two days, I received a call to schedule the appointment, and selected a time for the service. Glen called around 45 minutes beforehand to let us know he was ahead of schedule, and could come earlier if that was OK. Once he arrived, he was personable, greeting the whole family, and started to prep the area before beginning work. He explained what he was going to do, and I discussed the need for some additional chimney services, since a bird had built a nest in a less accessible part of the chimney last year. Because this wasn't part of the standard service, and required additional time and tools, Glen let me know up front that based on the time and effort required, there might be an additional charge. I agreed to this, and after completing the original service, he addressed the bird nest issue. He took care of everything I requested, and the additional charge was $75.

He must have kids of his own because he made sure that the vacuum noise wasn't going to scare my 3 year old daughter. He showed up when he said he would and did a good job cleaning and inspecting the chimney. I liked how he followed up by texting me photos of what he found during his inspection and provided a written quote of his recommendations for additional repairs. I would recommend him to others and use him again in the future.
