HIGHLAND ORCHARDS PAVING AND EXCAVATING

Excellent! They dug out old asphalt, dug into builders burning hole. The pulled everything out of the hole which turned out to be huge and filled it in with rock. The next day they came in with more trucks and equipment than I ever imagined. They installed the new section of driveway and recoated and leveled the old portion. The reason we chose them was because the install more inches of asphalt than another company we talked to. The driveway is beautiful. I couldn't have asked for a better job. Neighbors are already complimenting us on our new driveway.

The bid was the lowest, and I went for Highland Orchards. The first job was bad. I think it was because the job was performed in December, and the fresh asphalt never really hardened, not even after the winter and summer. The following May and June was crazy as the asphalt was even picking up tire treads. I can even push the asphalt with my fingers! Highland Orchards, to their great credit, decided that the asphalt needed to be repaved. So back came the excavator and the whole deal. The second time around, the team even put in extra gravel for the base. My driveway is now super stable, and the asphalt is hard and smooth. I can't be any happier! Did I wish that the whole fiasco of the first job did not happen? Of course. And Highland Orchards did try to tell me that what I was experiencing was normal or "user error". But I want to also say that I appreciated their coming around to redo the whole job. Two years later, the driveway is still beautiful.

Bruce came out in the evening to do an estimate on the job. He was very friendly and helpful. The quote was a great price right off the bat, so there was no negotiating required. The job was scheduled about 2 months out which was their first availability. The job was originally scheduled for Monday morning, and we have a very anxious rescue pup so I scheduled off of work to stay home with the dog. Not that I necessarily expect them to remember, but I did mention this once or twice in saying that I needed a definite date for the work. They notified us Saturday that projects were running behind schedule and they would not be able to start Monday morning as intended, but would start on Tuesday; time unknown. On Tuesday they started shortly after lunch and worked until about 5:00. They were unable to work on the job Wednesday and wrapped up Thursday mid-day. For most people this minor delay wouldn't have been an issue, but with our situation with the dog it was slightly inconvenient. Luckily, our patience paid off as the work done by Bruce and his team was great. We feel very good about the price, and the next couple of years will determine the durability of the work! All things considered I would recommend the work to a friend, neighbor, or family member.

They arrived on the scheduled date and took a look at my driveway and took measurements. They were supposed to email an estimate and I have yet to receive it.

We called the office and Bruce Hodge was at our home the same day. We discussed options and Bruce supplied quotes for each the next day via email. We chose the best one for us and the work was scheduled for the following week. The crew were great top work with and very respectful of our time and home. We were very pleased with the finished project and highly recommend them to our neighbors. We would never had found them without Angie's List. .

It was excellent. We had a little drainage problem. There are two streams that run underneath the road. They discovered that some of the drainage pipes underneath the road were rusted/corroded. They fixed them properly. They even put barrier walls on either side of the road so that little kids can't fall in. The price was very good. With regard to quality, there was absolutely no problem. Even the guy who plows our road for the snow said that it was so much nicer. He was very responsive. Because of the drainage problem, we had delays with actually getting the job done. But that was not his fault at all; it was the things he discovered afterwards. With regard to professionalism, there was no problem there either.

We were in the process of closing for our new home when I contacted Bruce. He was fantastic. He was able to give me an estimate based the home and structural engineering inspection completed on the house. He was extremely responsive and educated me on what needed to be done. The men arrived 7:30am the day after we closed and worked extremely hard to complete the work. The men were extremely professional and the quality of service was superior. Bruce was also on hand to help and ensure all went smoothly. I contacted 4 different foundation companies for a quote and Bruce was by far the MOST competitive. Bruce explained to me what the other quotes were as I had no knowledge of foundation work and that what the other companies were planning to do was overkill. The work was completed within 2 days and we are completely happy with the result. I plan to contact Bruce again once it is time to address the basement as there is a small crack in the foundation wall.

Called Bruce for an estimate of the project based on a recommendation of a friend and the reviews on Angie's list. He came out as promised to review the job and discuss my concerns about water drainage as our house sits up from road a significant grade. Bruce pointed out some issues and offered options. He promptly quoted the job offering prices for the various options. We decided to go with removing the old driveway completely and the enhancements. Bruce worked around our schedule and started the job on our suggested date. Bruce's team did a great job and on schedule. He always kept us up to date on what would happen every day. Very pleased.

Project manager provided clear estimate and scope of work. Worked with us on our time schedule. Kept in touch with us due to weather issues. Contacted us at the end of each work day to advise what would happen next. I know what we spent was alot of money - but - I am thrilled ! Highly suggest contacting them and utilizing their services.

He provided a really good itemized and defined quote but he was the most expensive of the quotes that I had. He even talked about drainage. He offered a discount when we said the we didn't have the money to afford his services. They were referred to us by our friend who said they did a good job on their driveway.

They were great. They were very professional. They made sure everything was cleaned up afterwards. It’s a gorgeous driveway. For the price we got a ?really good driveway.

The first sealcoat didn't work out well, but Highland stood behind their work and came to reseal. They definitely do stand behind their work and were receptive to my concerns.

Highland Orchards is primarily an old type country store where one can get flowers, pick your own fruit,etc. I found out however they have a separate paving/excavating department, run by Bruce Hodge, that has grown since Highland did development construction over the years. I wanted to hire a local company and though Highland's bid was a touch higher than I expected, the results were well worth. Paving is their main focus, however, Highland was well suited for my needs. Crew was on site for 1.5 days and Bruce Hodge provided detailed instructions for them; he also kept me in the loop. The amount of top soil required exceeded the plan, however Highland did not charge for the extra top soil which again afirms sometimes it's better to go with a established company than the lowest qoute.

Highland Orchard was recommended to us by Chip Griffiths (a concrete contractor who poured a front porch for us). They were prompt, courteous and saved us from spending more money than we needed to. We had a drainage issue with our old driveway and thought we would have to put in a drain in front of our garage because of the pitch of our lot. We were assured that a new driveway with the proper grading would be less expensive and easier to maintain. As the old drive was cracked and beyond repair, we decided to pull it up and expand the surface area to include a second parking spot. We were able to make the necessary changes and maintain the original cut to the road (in order to save a large tree at the road side). The work was completed quickly and the product is wonderful. No more water running toward the house. The expanded area accommodates up to 4 cars (it used to hold two). The driveway is smooth and provides a perfect place for the kids to ride their bikes. The only negative was that concrete dust got into the garage when the threshold was cut to make the appropriate transition. Overall we are thrilled with our new driveway. I highly recommend this company.
