 + 0 moreWhen my wife was using the garbage disposal Sunday evening, water was backing up into the sink. I called Golden Rule 7:15am Monday morning. Tim Lasco showed up at 10:45am! He spent close to 2 hours working this problem before the clog finally broke free. His last option was to cut the pipe at the elbow in the basement, which fortunately he didn't have to do. This is the second time I have used Golden Rule in the last year and as far as I am concerned, IF YOU LIVE IN THE CHESTER COUNTY AREA AND NEED PLUMBING WORK DONE CALL GOLDEN RULE ....... THESE GUYS ARE GREAT !!

 + -1 moreI called a few more plumbers and finally got two awesome plumbers from Walter Kramer Plumbing.I told the main guy Jeff over the phone the whole job. They came over and gave me an estimate of $331.00. He said this is an easy job that everything was right there, not too far under the house he had to go about a foot under. These guys were awesome and did the job in 45 minutes, They went above and beyond and now my water main is in the house and so easy for me to turn on and off. I was so happy. He couldn't understand why any plumber would say it was a hard job and that the price I got from Tim Lasco at Golden Rule Plumbing was a ripoff. So my experience with Walter Kramer plumbing was great. The guys who did it, one was named Jeff and not sure about the other plumber. I told Jeff the price I got from Golden Rule Plumbing after he gave me his price. He laughed. So their name and number is Walter Kramer Plumbing in West Chester, Pennsyvania. The number is 610-696-4801. Call them if you live in the area and ask for Jeff. So the job is done and I am very satisfied but I would never use Golden Rule Plumbing ever and if you do like I said get a second opinion always. Description of Work: Let me explain in short what happened. I am disabled and taking care of my mom too. I had several leaks at my house and got them fixed but I had to shut off my water main when leaving my home because I was worried I would get another leak. My water main is located underneath my house as it is a mobile home. I was sick and tired of crawling under the house to shut off the water main and get filthy. I needed a plumber to tie the water main into my house so I could shut it off in the house instead of crawling under the house. I emailed the contact Tim Lasco at Golden Rule Plumbing and the next day Christmas Eve I got a call from Mr. Lasco and I explained my situation and he said it would be a job they could do and he would call me the following Tuesday and at first I was impressed at the quick response time. Well no phone call so I figured they were just busy so I had to call them again later on in the week. Mr. Lasco apologized alot and made an appointment for that Saturday. So he comes over Saturday late and the whole time after looking underneath just sighing and complaining about the job. Mind you I had explained to him over the phone everything that needed to be done and told him it will be very muddy underneath my house. He just sighed so much it was like talking to a two year old. He said that the job would be very expensive around $500.00 to $600.00. I had already got estimates for $300.00. He said the job would be very hard. He didn't want to do the job obviously so he gave me the high estimate and said how hard the job would be. From the good marks I saw on Angie's list I wanted him to do the job. So after I said yes to the price he was still sighing. Then he said he would call me Monday to get the full estimate and set a date for the job. Tim Lasco never called me back. He was so unprofessional and acted like a big baby. Again I am disabled and caring for my elderly mother. I was so disgusted with him. It was one of the most pathetic experiences I ever had with a plumber. He didn't want to get dirty. All he had to do was say no to the job instead of leaving me hanging. I was excited to finally get the job done as it was really h****** me crawling underneath my house. Very unprofessional and acted like a big baby. Obviously he was only looking for cleaner and more expensive homes. I could understand if I never told him he had to crawl under the house but I explained to Mr. Lasco everything and explaining it would be muddy. Don't call them unless you have alot of money and Mr. Lasco won't have to get dirty. He is not honest and I would get a second opinion if you call him and he comes over. Call another plumber. He is very overpriced and unprofessional in my opinion. Big baby. GET A SECOND OPINION IF YOU DECIDE TO CALL THEM. Pathetic.

 + 0 moreWe signed up for Angie's List since it had been 18 years since we replaced an oil burning system to gas. We also had gotten rid of all our cast iron pipes. The contractor gave us an price of $850.00 for a 40 gallon gas hot water heater which we accepted and was installed that same week. ( it was leaking gradually ) Golden Rule was prompt and did the job quickly for us.

They were also very neat and clean and respectful of my house. (took his shoes off at the door-wow). He did not try to sell me a water heater but talked to me about the signs that may indicate I need one in the future. Very personable and professional. Golden Rule will be my first call in the future.
Description of Work: Golden rule plumbing came to my house to fix the drain in one of our bathtubs and to assess the health of our hot water heater. He fixed my tub and tested my water heater. He provided a reasonable estimate for replacement of my water heater should I need it in the future.

 + 0 moreWe called for estimates, and Golden Rule promply responded with a return call. We set up a date for an on-site free estimate, and the owner, Tim, was on time for that. He inspected the system and confirmed that we needed a new well pressure tank. He also inspected our water softener/neutralizer system. While he was not familiar with our particular set up he said he would contact the manufacturer and get some answers. Tim returned a few days later with a listing of items he wanted to check out after speaking with the manufacturer. He was able to service the system and put it back in working order. we had a previous estimate for this work, and that plumber wanted to replace the entire system at a cost of approximately $1,800. Tim's service cost was $175, so we saved big time.
Description of Work: Two service were performed. A replacement well tank was installed, and a wter softener/neutralizer was serviced.

Their initial price was somewhat higher than other estimates, but we agreed on a price that was close to the lowest estimate we had received after their Angie's List discount was factored in. The job was completed promptly and there was no cleanup needed after they left. I can recommend them highly.

 + -1 moreI selected a different plumber and requested a quote over the phone after giving a detailed description of the necessary repairs. The quote seemed high, so I went to a nearby 'big box' store to price the parts. The part quotes I had received were more than 2x the retail price. While discussing the parts and project with the 'big box' store customer service person, I let slip the total amount of the quote. The customer service person appeared a bit shocked, and agreed that the quote seemed high. He recommended that I contact Golden Rule for a competing bid, even though I had bought nothing at the store. This was on Saturday. I phoned Saturday afternoon, described the job, had a quote on the spot, which was about half of the quote of the previous plumber. I told owner Tim of Golden Rule the job was not urgent He suggested Monday morning at about 8:30, which I said was fine. Two very nice young men showed up promptly and set about dividing the tasks between them. I noted the parts they used, and they were all of good quality based on my shopping over the weekend. Their work was very good, they explained the reason they treated each task as they did. They gave me suggestions for maintenance where appropriate. They were finished by 10:00 am, and charged 25% less than their own quote because they encountered no difficulties and were able to finish quickly. As the customer, I enjoyed the cost benefit of the lesser time they required to do the job. Golden Rule is apparantly an installer for the 'big box' store I happened to visit. The young men who did the work were skilled, and had a pleasant customer service manner. They were knowledgeable, and well supplied with parts of appropriate quality and appropriate to my job. I was very pleased with every aspect of their work.
Description of Work: I had accumulated four projects which needed attention: 1 Replace the house water pressure regulator. 2 Replace the shut off valves under the kitchen sink. 3 Replace the shut off valve for the master toilet and replace the line. 4 Replace a split section of pipe to an outside hose faucet, and the faucet.

He was knowledgable about her neighborbood and what was needed to complete the job. He quoted a price and scheduled a time to completed the job the next day. The contractor was punctional, professional and completed the service at the same price quoted. They were competitivly priced and I would use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: My mother in law is 85 yrs old and she needed help getting her water heater replaced. She was on a budget and we needed to find a quality plumber for the money that she could spend. I contacted 4 plumbers and inquired about pricing and when the work could be completed. We needed a replacement water heater and removal of the old. Water heater was natural gas.

 + -1 moreI saw a leak in one of my rentals. I called him and even though he was busy, he came right over and fixed it in 2 hours. They also clean up amazingly, you would never know they were there. Everything works like a charm, he did a great job. I use him for my properties and have used him many times, and he is very consitant. Very good and responsive. I heard they do bathroom remodels and I imagine it would go so smoothly with them. I had a nightmare remodel, and they would have been great to work with.

His quote was 50% less than the quote from a competitor for all services, and even gave me suggestions to save money on the faucet before hiring him to do the repair. The next morning, he and his partner were at our house. The hot water installation was done efficiently, and despite the snow and slush outside, they kept my floors clean. I would recommend them to anyone.

 + -1 moreLaundry sink had been draining slow and the metal trap developed a corrosion leak. I had emailed a picture of the problem so they would know exactly what to expect. There were also several other items that I wanted him to look at and provide an estimate. Fixing the drain however was a top priority and Tim Lasco gave a phone estimate of $120. My wife was home during the initial visit but I called in and spoke with the plumber as he looked over the job list. In the end he just cut out the old trap and replaced with PVC plastic Upon completion the plumber commented to my wife that we had a really slow drain and left it that way. I was rather unhappy that he didn't fix the underlying slow drain problem and only replaced the obvious. I think it should have been addressed before calling the job complete. I was charged $140 for the job and the basic invoice rate stated $125 for the first hour and $100 per hour each additional. At that price one expects more than the typical handyman fix. Had it not been for Angie's List first time discount coupon of $25 I would have been even more disappointed.

He assured me that the part wouldn't cost more than what could be found at a local hardware store, and he was right. Tim called back within minutes, and we scheduled a time for him to come out for an estimate. He and his team were punctual, price-conscious, and honest. I would definitely use them again, and next time, I won't waste my time bidding out to multiple plumbers. The solution that Tim came up with saved about $1000 on labor vs. the other plumbers I talked with. I highly recommend Golden Rule Plumbing!
