Golden Rule Plumbing & Contracting, LLC

I had not used Golden Rule before, but found them on Angie's List. They were able to come out the next day, showed up on time, and worked to clear the drain - we thought with success. Within a few days, the drain had backed up again, and they came out the next day again. After several attempts to clear the drain without success, they opened a wall to check on the condition of the pipe leading from the second floor, and found the damage. Essentially nails had been driven into the sewage line during the exterior construction, resulting in the recurring blockages. They removed the damaged section of PVC pipe, and arranged to return a few days later to replace the pipe, working around my schedule to do so. High quality work, prompt response, and overall very satisfied.

They did it for a very affordable cost. We were on a very tight budget and they've worked with us. They were absolutely wonderful. We just couldn't have asked for more when it comes to price and quality. They did more than we thought they were going to do. The guy's name was Tim and he was just outstanding. We got a lot of quotes to get the job done and he really took to our situation and actually said to us he thinks technically it could have cost a lot more, but they think of it that we are first time home buyers and they want to keep us for the length of time that we will be purchasing homes. That was their idea behind it, which was a great concept. They are a very good company and we will absolutely use them again. We highly recommend them.

One of the employees did come out to the house mid-January and looked at the current water softener system and collected a water sample for testing. He said we would hear back from them in roughly 2 weeks. After leaving several unanswered voicemails, and speaking to someone yesterday who said they would review the file and get back to us, it's been two months and have not received any quotes or any information from the provider. Very unprofessional and could not recommend this provider to anyone based on our experience.

Our last encounter with Golden Rule Plumbing was just to fix/replace a pipe in a bathroom unit. We called early one morning, they were at my house within hours--fixed us right up. HOWEVER, Our first encounter with the company is why we'll stick with them: our toilet, sink, and tub were all backing up--turns out these phantom tree roots were interfering with the sewer line. Golden Rule spent two days clearing the blockage for, an extremely reasonable price. Super helpful, super courteous, and super reasonable.

They were very courteous and made every effort to fit me into their schedule. I was very pleased with their work.

I called and left a message in the morning. They returned my phone call by lunch and Tim came that same day. He was very punctual and courteous. He turned on the gas line in the basement and showed me how to light the pilot on my logs. He was very helpful and respectful. Thank you for fitting me in and just in time for the 2nd big ice storm!

Called this company on a Saturday and left a message about a leak under the kitchen sink. My message said that it was not an emergency but that I wanted to make a plumbing appt. I realized that the company was closed for the weekend but I figured I would get a call when the work week resumed. That never happened. I called another highly rated provider on Angie's list and they fixed the leak.

I called Golden Rule and the plumber arrived in less than an hour. He found the leak and repaired it. The plumber was very personable and answered all of my questions.

It is a very old steel tub. Tim found the leak location and was able to repair a pretty signifiant area of rust. No more leak and it looks great! Tim was very conscious of no tracking snow into my house and cleaned up the bathroom when he finished.

I had a leaking toilet which was fixed and while here did some minor plumbing fixes. I have used them on a number of occasions and always professional and timely. Last month my hot water heater was leaking, they came out told me it was under warranty and would only cost labor. I had no idea it was under warranty and could've been charged a whole lot more! Very honest and reliable. They also came out in the middle of Hurricane Sandy because I had water leaking from a bathtub and into my garage. I highly recommend.

The water heater was a natural draft, propane fired water heater in an unusual 40 gallon size. This heater size and type is not common. Tim searched his supplier network and found the heater. Tim also installed new valves that were not present in the original installation. He worked the job into his schedule, arrived within a few minutes of the appointed hour, and got the job done in the communicated time. We are now in hot water, a good thing for once.

Came out the day I called. Did an excellent job on a very difficult job. Had very reasonable rates. Would recommend this service 100%.

We heard a gurgling sound in a drain whenever we did the wash or used the dishwasher. Had our septic tank pumped by a service provider who recommended that we call a plumber to remove a clog in a line. I called Golden Rule at 7:45 am and the call was returned within little over an hour. The first truck arrived by 1:15 pm on the same day. This was first of pleasant surprise. The first plumber did not have a the correct faucet cartridge with him so he called in another truck to bring it in. The clogged line problem proved more difficult to resolve so reinforcements were called in. Ended up with a whole crew working the issue for hours. They stuck with it until they found the obstruction was a pop bottle. It some how must been in the septic tank since it was built and got sucked into a line. This was determined because we don't have any open access points large enough that the bottle would have fit through. Tim and his crew were polite, professional, and very easy to deal with. I called Golden Rule because I had coupon for 2 hrs of service for $99, which had expired earlier in the month. Tim honored the original terms of the coupon deal. This was the second pleasant surprise and a great saving because the job ended up using 8 service hrs. I called the next day to inquire about how the billing was done, because I did not understand the hand written invoice. My questions were answered in polite and clear manner and I was asked if we were satisfied with the work that was done. I was happy to give a resounding "Yes" to that question. I definitely will be calling Golden Rule again and recommending them to anyone who asks.

Tim came out to look at some water damage from an upstairs bathroom. I thought we had a broken pipe. Tim took his time and thoroughly investigated the situation. Turns out the water leak was caused when my husband was repairing a broken washer. Tim was very honest and told me we didn't have a leak. Will definitely call him again as I GREATLY appreciate his honesty and professionalism.

Mike was professional and efficient, and a man of few words. I couldn't ask for more. I will call golden Rule Plumbing again if I have any other problems.

Very pleased with Golden Rule Plumbing. Arrived on time , assessed the job(s) accurately and finished the work quickly , about one hour. Tim was easy to work with , polite and professional. I feel the price was fair and the work is of good quality. I would recommend Golden Rule to anyone and will definitely use them again.

We had pipe from our basement going through a non-insulated garage to the outside. This pipe had burst & we decided to reroute the pipe from the basement directly to the outside. Golden Rule responded to my request quickly, were very clear in what they were planning on doing & then performed the job as expected. I would contact Golden Rule again for any of my plumbing needs.

Tim had to reschedule the initial appointment due to an emergency call at a residence. He called several times to keep me posted, apologized, and rescheduled at my convenience. It is nice to know that the same courtesy would be afforded to me if I had an emergency, as my leak was not an emergency. Tim arrived on time, was very professional, courteous, and did a great job. He diagnosed the problem without cutting any holes in the wall or ceiling. What most impressed me was he basically said that the something wasn't installed properly, so when the master bath shower drain backs up, it overflows and ends up in the floor. He said he could either charge me a bundle by fixing the problem, or he simply advised that I not let the shower drain get clogged, and the leak will go away. He cleared the shower drain. He was right. After a week, no leaks, no problems. I appreciated his non nonsense and practical approach.

It went fairly well. There was an issue with one of the fixtures that I provided and the plumber did all he could to make it work out.

One of their plumbers arrived on time and began to do the tear-down of the existing system while I looked on. He was professional and polite and more than happy to discuss his plan and what he was doing (and why). Everything was accomplished - although he did not have one of the required fittings. I happened to have one so no time was lost. Several days later a small leak developed in one of the fittings. Golden Rule sent someone out immediately to resolve the problem. In fairness to the company, this was a somewhat unusual job, and I was running the system with a higher pressure than is found in most homes (about 80 psi). No complaints.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it worked out good. They were easy enough to work with. They did little basic fixtures for me, and it was overall a good experience. I wasn't home that day, my wife was there. They just did a small maintenance job.

It went perfectly. Five minutes before my scheduled visit, Tim called to say he was running a bit late. He said he would arrive in 20 minutes, which he did. I explained that I had installed the new toilet myself and thought I had done it correctly, but water was leaking out of the bottom of the toilet. Tim pulled up the toilet and showed then identified the issue. The tile floor was laid over the original floor, which meant the wax seal ring was set to low and not able to establish a perfect seal with the toilet bottom. He added an addition ring of wax on top of the existing ring, which solved the problem.
