They are amazing!!! I am always thrilled with their work. They work very hard, and do a great job. They are also nice people. I always tell people that Garden Restoration was the best contractor I've ever found through Angies List.

Barb, Ira, and the crew are the hardest working people I have ever had at my house! They are prompt and do an amazing job- installing new plants, removing old plants, and weeding. I feel very proud of my yard now . Barb and Ira are also very very knowledgeable about trees and plants. They gave me very good directions on what to keep and what I could afford to get rid of. Their prices are a little high, but , I think, fair for the quality of work they do. I have recommended them to friends. And I will continue to do so.

Barbara and her crew arrived promptly ready to work. She made sure that she knew which plants were to stay before they started. They worked consistently until the bed was just pertect. She and her crew are very committed to making the garden as perfect as possible. Barbara is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and great to talk to about plants and their care. I am very pleased with the finished garden.....it looks beautiful. My neighbors love it too!
Description of Work: Cleaned up large garden on corner of property. Removed old shrubs and plants. Planted new plants that I supplied and mulched with my mulch. Put the removed plant matter on compost pile . Moved river rocks onto the bed.

I think their work is extremely good but they are expensive. They get the job done in time and stay late if they need to and work hard. They sent 6-7 workers out to do the job.
Description of Work: They planted things and did gardening. They also did some hardscaping and brought in stone.

It was great and they did a nice job. They came in and freshened everything up. I would definitely recommend them. They sent 5 guys out each day to do the job and they got the job done in about 4 days. It is a nice option for someone that likes their overall plan but just needs it freshened up. The workers were great and very professional and worked all day. I was very impressed with them because they can redo the whole set-up or upgrade what you have. They were really easy to work with.

Barbara knows her stuff!! From the moment I met her, the knowledge flowed, like a walking encyclopedia! I explained what I wanted in the front of my house and she immediately came up with a plan. She contacted me after our initial visit with the list of plants/shrubs she had in mind, allowing me to see what would be placed. She and her crew removed what wasn't working, (or didn't belong in the first place) and replaced with a fresh array of shrubs that immediately added curb appeal. Better yet, she took some of my older plants, rearranged them (according to their need of sunlight) or split them to add variety to the area. Add to that a splash of summer flowers and some large rocks (which she had her crew search for in the woods behind my house), and my garden looks brand new! Barbara's crew worked hard under her direction. They were courteous and friendly and respected my property. I'm not done with Garden Restoration, I have more to do and will not think twice about calling Barbara!

. this was the third time they have worked for us in the last year. they know the yard and work quickly with minimum guidance. they are equally skilled improving the landscaping plan or maintaining the existing landscape. we will continue to use this firm in the future.
Description of Work: partial landscape of front yard: added large boulder to one of the beds, planted four small shrubs and 19 variegated liriope. they also planted an evergreen tree to replace one that had died in a large hedge of similar trees. they had worked for us earlier in the year and they trimmed shrubs and plantings thru out the yard. there are beds on both sides of the house in addition to extensive beds in front and back yards.

I put my yard into Barbara's very capable hands and her crew worked tirelessly to bring it back to life again. It's hard to adequately describe how bad it was but it was alot of work. I have 2.7 acres and after my husband died 3 years ago, the property just went down the drain. Her crew weeded, removed poison ivy, pruned trees, bushes, rose buses, cut back plants, removed plants and bushes, mulched, planted new plants, you name it, they did it. My husband always did a wonderful job maintaining our property and I had become very depressed seeing it all go downhill. It is now as beautiful as it ever was. She even went out of her way to make special areas for my 2 youngest sons. My youngest was upset when he found out a downed tree (downed after a storm) was going to be taken out. He liked climbing on that tree and considered that area his special place. When Barbara heard how upset he was she suggested they make a surprise for him out of the tree. Now he has his own special place, where the tree was, with a fence and table made out of the tree and 2 camping chairs. And so his older brother wouldn't feel left out, they made a special place for him too and supplied both areas with signs stating who's place it is. They loved it and couldn't wait to start making each area "theirs". Barbara listened to my needs and concerns, had suggestions which I really appreciated since I know nothing about landscaping and did a thoroughly professional job. Her staff worked hard, cleaned up after themselves and were always polite and professional. I will not hesitate to call them again in the future.
Description of Work: Barbara Nesbitt and her crew did 3 days worth of work over 2 days (12 hr days) giving my seriously neglected, over grown, beaten down yard new life again.

It was a pleasure to work with Barbara and her crew from start to finish. Barbara visited my home within a reasonable time after I contacted her and provided me with a sketch of some of the ideas we discussed. She was very helpful with plant suggestions, as I am not too knowledgeable on the subject. We were in contact frequently before the installation and she was very good about responding to us in a reasonable time. The installation itself went really well and the landscaping looks better than we could have imagined. The crew was very knowledgeable and worked very hard, managing their time well. They really went above and beyond our expectations and were very professional. They even moved several large boulders - which had previous been used for seating around a fire pit - and placed them in the front of our home in the flower beds. The result is fantastic and it feels like a whole new house. The prices was also very reasonable for all that they did during the day they were here. I highly recommend Garden Restoration and Maintaining!
Description of Work: Installed new flower bed in the front of my home, provided/installed mulch, installed/provided river rock at the bottom of my driveway where grass would not grow, planted a variety of plants, seeded large area of yard, filled in holes throughout yard from previous tree removals, installed new stone walkway, moved boulders from other parts of my property and installed them in my new flower beds, plus providing a ton of design ideas and help with plant selection

Garden Restoration and Maintaining was very nice, very thorough and very knowledgeable. We would have gotten the work from her, but she was out of our budget. We ended up doing the labor ourselves. But I would get more quotes from her in the future, if I need it.

Made appointment with Barbara to discuss my needs. She was very professional, courteous and knowledgable. I felt instantly comfortable with her. I proceeded to schedule 2 full days of yard and garden maintenance with her crew. That was to be 6 crew plus her for 2 days from 9am thru 4:30 at a price of $2400.00. They were punctual and got to work right away. I was told that first day that one of the crew was not going to start until later that day due to some sort of child care delay. I was a little put off by that since I was promised 6 people at two full days each. However, a great deal of work was accomplished overall in the two days so I'm not sure how much, if any, I lost out because of this. Barbara was very responsive and took care of all my requests. My yard looked great after. I will definitely use her services again next year. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality and quantity of work. Expensive, but felt I got my money's worth. It's nice to come home to a well maintained yard now.
Description of Work: Overall yard and gardens clean up and maintenance. Lots of weeding. Pruned back all shrubs. Removed and or relocated plantings. Added new plantings. Put down weed deterrent in beds. Fertilized shrubbery. Added gravel to walkway areas where it washed away over the years. Raised a step in walkway to make it more level. Took down some smaller trees and removed huge vine that was growing up side of house.

I contacted Barbara based on the excellent reviews in Angie's List. I was having issues with a brick walkway that was dropping off to one side due to loss of support from a stone wall. She came out to evaluate the job and confirmed my suspicions that the previous owner had hired someone who didn't know what they were doing. She made it clear that she wouldn't know how bad the construction was until they started the repair. One should realize that Barbara does not provide a fixed quote but instead charges an hourly rate for the work done by her and the crew. While some may find this disconcerting, she did try to give a ballpark estimate. She was always very good to keep me informed of any findings and updates on the approximate time to complete the project. I knew this was going to be an expensive repair but I wanted it done right. She and her team are hard workers and make sure to do an excellent job that both you and they can be proud of. And she really means it when she stands behind her work. I contacted her a couple weeks after finishing the job to inform her that rain was washing away the sand between the bricks on part of the walkway. She and her team came out soon after and spent part of the day making changes to fix the problem. I was not charged for any labor, just the cost of an additional piece of needed flagstone needed. They did a great job. Before, my walkway and stonewall was an accident waiting to happen and now it's safe and aesthetically pleasing. I've gotten several positive comments from neighbors. They also did a fantastic job with the landscaping project. Barbara had some wonderful suggestions to spruce up my mailbox area. They even relocated some plants to areas of my yard where they would do better. I highly recommend Barbara and her team for your landscaping and hardscaping projects. I look forward to working with her in the future.

Barb came out quickly to talk about the work I needed done and we got it on her schedule. She had great ideas for how to make things look good and reuse existing plants and materials. She and her team do an outstanding job. They're flexible with making some last minute changes. Barb really listened to what I wanted and then came up with a vision for how things could look outstanding. She and her team followed through to implement it and went above expectations.
Description of Work: Barb's team spent two days at my house, cleaning up the gardens, pruning, mulching, transplanting some shrubs, redoing the edges on gardens, planting flowers, etc. There was lots to do since I haven't kept up with it much lately and really wanted it to look good. Barb herself did a beautiful job making a display for the entryway with 2 planters, cornstalks, pumpkins, mums, and gourds.

Barb returned my initial call promptly, scheduled a visit for estimate, arrived on time, professional with references, pictures, and great ideas. Gave us an accurate estimate of time needed to complete work and overall cost. They work on time and materials at a competitive rate, excellent when you factor in the quality of the work. The scheduled the work and completed it as estimated. Found a dangerous hornet's nest for us and had other good advice once they started. We have hired them again for more work in the fall.

Barb and her team did an excellent job (under very tough conditions +90 degree days). She listened to our wants, made suggestions, and did a good job communicating during the entire process on what she was doing as well as future care and maintenance the new beds would need. Services that Barb provides are well above what you would find from other contractors. She was very responsive and the work was done right and on time as promised! Her crew did a good job cleaning up after beds were completed. Barb went the extra mile to provide advice and suggestions for other existing beds and proper care of plantings. We would definitely use her again.
Description of Work: The beds in the front of the house were suffering from 20 years of over growth from previous owner who did not keep up with maintenance (old DIY plants). Asked Barbra Nesbitt to completely re-do two large beds in front of house including removing old plantings, roots, reconditioning soil, pruning existing red maple & dogwood trees, designing new landscaping & features as well as repair /re-plant existing rock garden.

I'm planning to sell my house soon, but I've been unable to keep up with the garden work for the last few years due to a disability. I needed a contractor who understood my need to do the necessary maintenance to make the landscaping more attractive to potential buyers while trying to keep the cost of the project reasonable. Barbara had "high marks" on Angie's List, so I asked her to visit. After telling her my goal, Barbara surveyed the property and offered several suggestions. We agreed on the work to be done and scheduled the job. Barbara and her crew were punctual and reliable. They worked hard while here and came up with some creative solutions to repair problems. The work was completed to a high standard of quality by honest and trustworthy people. This company is a class act. Although not inexpensive, they provided a quality value.
Description of Work: Considerable garden maintenance including bed design and mulching, transplanting and adding new foundation plants, repair of screen porch, hardscaping a walkway and small patio, and assorted miscellaneous lawn and garden repairs/restorations.

The company's owner is Barbara Nesbitt and we found them on Angie's List. We have just started with her and we are not fully done. We are going to continue in the spring and we really like the work that she has done so far. Her attention to detail is just superb. She brings an entire crew in, and we had seven people here on the two days that she worked. They did a lot of projects outside and the place looks great. We are going to continue in the springtime and have her do our restoration work, and probably clean-up in the fall and a little maintenance during the rest of the year. She is expensive but the value that she offers with the cost is far superior to anything else that we have seen out there.

Overall, they are a great business. We would have to concider using them again in the future because of the cost.

I have had a very satisfactory experience with them and I have very positive things to say about them. I called them because I had suffered an injury and wasn't able to do some of the exterior maintenance of planting beds myself. They did overall work so that the property looked attractive to us and from the trees in our neighborhood. They are very responsive to phone messages left for them. The woman who is the principal of that firm calls back, finds out what your needs are, and immediately goes through her calendar and finds a slot in which she can schedule her person to come. That is very much appreciated. The individual she assigns comes on time and works consistently and is very pleasant to deal with. He will take a break for lunch but not an extensive break. We consider their price fair and it is certainly not expensive. We have dealt with other providers and have been happy enough with them to keep going back to them. We have had some satisfaction with other providers but this has been more consistent for us. I intend to hire them again for some other work and I am willing to go back to them.

Barbara Nesbitt was one of several landscaping contracters we contacted to assess, recommend, design and quote for a complete renovation of the landscaping in front of our home. (We had a 30-ish year old landscape with lots of DIY plantings and a TON of overgrowth and weeds from our inability to keep up with the maintenance). To start off right, Barbara was straighforward with me about her availability, turnaround, and charge for designing the solution. So far so good... as I'd already been burned by several contractors who came for a visit, promised a response and quote, and then either didn't return my calls or missed their committed dates on a response. Barbara spent over an hour with me reviewing some of her previous work in photos, walking around my property, discussing my requirements and priorities, and sharing some of her ideas. I was very concerned about creating a low-maintenance landscape (because I have very little free time for yard work), and she was aware of and proactive about considering deer resistance. She was up front and clear about her labor charges (for the team, by the day) and I agreed to pay her reasonable design fee (which would be credited to the job if I went with her for the work) and waited the agreed time for her design to emerge. When Barbara returned as scheduled, she came with expert drawings, detailed information about deer-resistant plants, a detailed quote (which I found extremely reasonable on the plant materials plus the aforementioned labor) and an open mind. My 73-year-old mother (an experienced home-builder and home gardener) put her through a grilling you wouldn't believe, and Barbara passed muster with flying colors. Barbara's design was realistic and true to my requirements re: color, formality vs. informality, maintenance needs, and deer resistance. It was the most expensive design I'd received, but I saw clear value in it vs. the others who had gotten as far as drafting a design. We made a few minor tweaks to the design, gave her a deposit check, and set a date to get rolling (about 10 days later). Barbara's team (always including her and 5-6 men) arrived promptly each of the 3 days of the renovation and worked tirelessly for a full day each day. They dug, hoed, chopped, raked, and anything else you can think of to do with a garden/landscaping. They planted two trees, about 20 shrubs, about 15 perennials, and 200 bulbs, and they strategically placed 5 tons of boulders, including creating a lovely dry-fit boulder wall at the bottom of my hill meeting my driveway. The stones were always placed with quarrystone for drainage. They also brought in and placed three yards of quarry stone for the foundation under my new shed. Soil was amended for each plant. They brought in and spread nine yards of triple hardwood mulch, and spread Preen. I was then and now remain completely thrilled with the results the following spring/summer. Given the starting point, Barbara and her team worked miracles. I now gladly bring a member of her team back every six weeks or so to do pruning and basic maintenance on the landscaping - a very reasonable expense (about 2 hours @$30/hr every 6 weeks or so) to keep the beauty maintained. Barbara Nesbitt was and is a delight to work with, her fees were completely reasonable for the quality and quantity of work done and plants supplied, and we drive into our driveway smiling to look at the results every night after work. My only regret is not doing this sooner.

Barbara came to the house and sat down with us, showed photos of some her work, walked around the house and gave us ideas of how to proceed and what could be done, sat down and explained her pricing and how her team works. She was very professional and gave us a very competitive price quote. We contracted with her and she scheduled us for an early season 3-day cleanup. She and her team were on time every day, did everything that was quoted, and more, while maintaining the schedule, seemed to be constantly coming up with ideas that made improvements to the look of the property (at no additional cost), and did a generally outstanding job. The crew was cheerful and hard working, did not complain about the "extras" or take long breaks, everyone pitched in and helped each other and got the job done in an efficient and effective manner. As you can tell, we were impressed with the whole team. We would hire them again without reservation.
Description of Work: Barbara Nesbitt's team pruned trees and shrubs, removed trees and shrubs, dug out stumps, designed new landscaping and added shrubs, repaired dry stone wall and added stone to walkway, and cleaned out and mulched all beds with cedar mulch. Some of the work had been quoted initially, some of the work was an extra that was included at no additional cost. The schedule and the cost targets were both met.
