ABC CONSTRUCTION

A total nightmare. One of the biggest regrets I have in life is having made the acquaintance of American Home Remodeling Services. My list of grievances with this company could go on and on but in a nutshell they misrepresented their abilities and availability, treated our home with little care/respect, had absolutely no system of quality control and conducted themselves in a rude, unprofessional and unethical manner. This project was originally slated to several weeks and wound up taking several months. The crew would start some aspect of the renovation and then randomly with no warning stop working, often for weeks at a time. When asked for an explanation of this, the project manager responded that the crew was working on a different site that day. From the beginning, it was clear that the management (on the rare occasions they did show up) and crew were racing to hit certain payment triggers in the contract - i.e. commencement of cabinet installation, commencement of painting, etc. They would install a cabinet or paint a wall, expect payment and then not show up again for weeks at a time, all per their own convenience. When asked for a work schedule and breakdown of the services that would be rendered that week, they rarely provided any. And there was little to no management oversight regarding care in construction or quality of workmanship. We submitted a detailed plan to AHRS and were shocked when subcontractors arrived at our home having no idea of the work that was to be performed. As a result, we often acted as our own project manager - even though there was one assigned to us from AHRS - by scheduling subcontractors, sourcing our own materials and performing as quality control. I could go on and on. Fortunately, the renovation detailed above is a thing of the past for us as is our relationship with AHRS. But I wanted to share my impressions with the community at large to save another family the time, trouble, cost and energy we expended in the course of our project. If you value your home and your relationship with it, avoid American Home Remodeling Services!
