Unfortunately they started mid November 2008 which was followed by a cold and wet winter. They dug the footers and we didn't see them again until Feb when they removed the old deck and then the weather turned bad again so we were without a back door for sometime. But once they showed up they were there nearly every day, even in 9 degree temps. We let them store the wood and their tools in our garage from start to finish which the crew said was very helpful, they could work longer and not have to spend time packing up. I'm an avid gardening and have a lot of landscaping, I removed alot of plants around the area they were building the deck, but not areas they would have to work. So far this spring there are several plants that haven't come back because of the heavy traffic, but that wasn't the crews falt they didn't know the plants were there. We also had hot chocolate and sweets for them nearly every day. The crew was very considerate. Josh, the crew chief, was very meticulous in his craft which we appreciated. Because my wife is meticulous she went around every Saturday picking up scrap pieces of wood, screws, cigarette butts. On several occassions they weren't able to do something the way we wanted and they always worked with us in coming up with a compromise we could live with. In the end the deck looks like an extension of the house as we had hoped and couldn't be happier. They told us that if any boards warp they will replace them. But getting them to return our calls hasn't been their forte, though I'm sure Brian will have a perfectly good excuse.
