Description of Work: Mark Long performed our house inspection right after we signed our contract to purchase. He had arranged with our agent to perform a radon test we requested prior to the day of the full inspection so he was able to send us our report the day after the inspection. His report was thorough, with photos of trouble spots and of things like the main water valve for our future reference. His notes of the trouble spots were rated from immediate concern/do-right-away to intermediate concern to think-about-it-in-the-future, which was helpful when planning and budgeting our to-do list. On the day of the inspection, there was a thunderstorm in our area and throughout Montgomery County to the south. Mark came early and was on the roof when we arrived -- he wanted to make sure he got a good look around the roof before it started raining. Once inside, he not only tested all the systems, including the heat (it was July), he also managed to crawl inside the attic (no floorboards) and into the crawlspace for a thorough look-around. Photos from these areas were in our report. BTW, Mark is about 6'4" or taller so this was no small feat. It started pouring rain during the inspection, but that did not rush his inspection. He tested everything, and answered all our questions about things that looked problematic to us. As first-time homeowners, a lot of things looked problematic to us, but Mark patiently answered every question. We respected his insights and point of view as a licensed contractor on what needed to be done. Our real estate agent was really pushing for us to use her favorite inspector, but we insisted on Peace of Mind. Although we had never met Mark until the day of the inspection, we had spoken to him on the phone several times over the preceding 3 months as we made offers on 3 other homes before we were successful. Each time, he was gracious and helpful, even pointing out things to look out for before we wrote out our offers. When our agent recommended we do a radon test, Mark even suggested we do a self-test to save costs, but we wanted a professional test done for our report. The final report is a secured document received on-line that clearly shows all the inspected areas. Problem areas are well noted in the photos, with rankings on the immediacy of the repairs. We could not be happier about our inspection from Peace of Mind home inspections and Mark Long. His company is well named!
